Her name is Karen, and she used to work at Hairfellas on Slater before that location closed down. Been getting my hair cut by her for a few years now, and wanted to pass on the message of her 'going solo', so to to speak:

This happened to this past weekend. I was in need of haircut and decided to head out to my local national chain barber shop. As, like most people, I am not a fan of lines, I did on-line check-in to put myself in the queue before I drove to the barber shop. The shop does not take appointments, just on-line and walk-in check-ins.
Upon arrival, I notice I am first in the queue. While looking for my name on the digital board, I notice a name 4 or 5 down the list that said "Karen +2." Being a fan of this board, I quietly snickered at this. The on-line check ins have a symbol next to their name. Karen's did not, but everyone in front of her did. I sit down and the only other person in the shop is a woman, obviously our literal Karen (sadly without the haircut...would have been perfect) and her 3 kids.
There were no barbers available, but after a minute or two, one became free and, as I was at the top of the queue, they called my name and I took my seat. As I moved to take my seat, Karen, in pure Karen voice and fashion, shouted at the barber, "Excuse me! I was here first. My children need haircuts so I should go next."
The barber informed Karen that the queue fills with people who do digital check-ins and walk-ins in the order they are received and you don't need to be present to take your place in the queue via digital check-in. Karen huffed and puffed a bit, but eventually sat down in anticipation that she would be next.
If that were the end of it, I probably wouldn't have bothered posting, but moments later 2 of the remaining queue members who checked in digitally and were in front of Karen and her kids arrived and took their place. When the next barber called the digital queue member's name Karen lost it and went on a full-scale rant. She ranted against modern technology, the lack of respect for working mothers and, the cherry on top, how customer service has changed for the worse in a world full of millennials who are always on their phone (making their lives easier like...you know...checking in at the barber shop to save time).
Karen proceeded to take her shaggy-haired brood and left. I asked the barber cutting my hair if that happened frequently and she said "more than you'd think," with an eye-roll. And that, my friends, is the story of how Karen's kids failed to receive a haircut because she doesn't understand technology.

I was recommended to post this here from another sub. Unfortunately I haven’t got around to making a hundred of them. I have no doubt I eventually will so if I’m violating some kind of rule, I’ll be back. Some of these are funny some are wholesome and some are tragic and dark. Some are boundary-crossing territory, be sure to ask players what they’re okay with. Feel free to add your own.
1. The Toll
While making a crossing, a troll demands the toll for the upkeep of his bridge. The troll inherited the responsibility of the upkeep for this bridge and lives in a hovel nearby. Because it doesn’t technically fall into any city’s province no municipality is responsible. The troll demands very little, merely one gold piece. It is willing to accept food, particularly of the fey kind as payment for its work. The troll may speak giant or very broken common depending on the party’s language loadout. There are no significant consequences for either paying ignoring or attacking the troll it’s just a stand alone moral choice.
2. “Give me a good death”
An old paladin hobgoblin wants his ‘good death’. The hobgoblin has been looking for this death for quite some time in order to get into their order’s afterlife. They might phrase their proposal with the implication that the players should kill it. But in truth a self actualised hobgoblin of this obscure faction must only be killed by the one who knows them the most, themselves. Cut to the dilemma: the hobgoblin has rigged up some very elaborate means to commit suicide, it could be a Rube Goldberg Saw trap which ritualistically cuts the individual open seppuku style or a simple cliff edge with lots of spiritual meaning to the paladin; the problem is the hobgoblin needs an audience for its death or it doesn’t count. Though they might explain this in so many words, the players may still not be able to shake the feeling they are being tricked into an ambush.
3. “Tell my wife…”
The players have arrived just in time to witness a grizzly scene. Two travellers have met with an unfortunate accident. Their carriage flew too fast down a hill and has crashed into a fallen tree. One of the travellers who was manning the horse was flung forwards and has been impaled on one of the trees many sharp branches. The other who was riding in the car has been partially crushed by the carriage. Both are still alive, though minutes from death. I don’t mean you beat bottom line like MS and then miss top line. I mean crush both badly! Compare the beat this time last year to expectations. To be honest not even the WFC numbers were impressive. They were better than the rest but the rest missed on top or bottom… and these are financials that usually beat! What about NFLX, AAPL, AMZN, FB. They missed last quarter! That was a huge sign as well… but I saw speculation going crazy, NFTs, people buying property in the metaverse… There used to be a saying when I was a kid, that if your shoe shinesman or barber starts giving you stock tips it is time to sell! Ask the people that have been in this long, that was the saying… That is because FOMO, that is because generally retail knows nothing about the market…. Yesterday was the first time a big famous money manager actually acknowledged my tweets and responded. She is on CNBC all the time, her name is Karen Finerman. I tag them all especially if they say something about a stock. It was about BA… I actually wanted to attack Bernstein as once again they upgraded BA and do this constantly as I see their history with the company and sure they have interests. I hope to find their twitter if they are on… She was stating in a very light way that retail is pretty much clueless and bond investors have a better idea… I did respond on BA debt which ballooned by 40 billion since covid [they have no means to pay it], that they are honored low coupon rates because of performance before Covid not after…. With rising rates and their 90 billion debt, when they lose money and have negative cash flow, they are not in a good position…..Little by little I tag people and sooner or later some important people will follow the tickers.

C.O. Bigelow Barber Elixir White 2.5Hello, CA fam! I would say "it's good to be back" but I never really left. I just didn't have the time and means to post; I've either been incoherently drunk or CAG's been here and I haven't felt safe whipping out the laptop. Gather 'round, it's story time!
There's been far, far, too much insanity over the last few weeks for me to condense into a single post. Individual days and events were postworthy in themselves, but as more and more incidents happened it just became too much to record. Suffice it to say I'm not sober, for a start. Since my last post I managed maybe 36 hours of sobriety before I caved and drank the shitty IPAs she left here, to cope with the yawning emptiness. I was going to mark it as a one off and try again the next day, but she got in touch, offering to return the clothes she had stolen. That's when the madness began. Again.
The days and weeks have just merged into one interminable period of booze-soaked crazy. It feels like it's only been two weeks since I posted here last, but looking at the date stamp it's been freaking 28 days.
Because of the sheer number of incidents I've tried to condense it down to a summary and we'll see where we go from there.
Some selected highlights for you:
- She tried to steal my cat, Jonesy. We'd gone out to a restaurant the night before and came back arguing. Some guy sat next to us had asked me about my mushy peas (pics to follow) and while he was drunk and perhaps a little obnoxious, he was otherwise harmless. CAG, on the other hand, maintained he was a 'threat' to us - this is one of her narcissistic personality disorder traits, that she recognizes (imaginary) danger while I'm otherwise "oblivious". She also looked like she desperately wanted to engage with the guy and was literally pained because I was preventing her from doing so, the source of the argument we had when we later got home.
The next morning she had interpreted words I said, before I left for work, as indicating, she 'deserved' her past rapes, which is absolutely not what I said. She must have been blasted drunk, as she completely forgot about the security camera I'd installed on the porch. I got a notification on my phone, while I was at work, about movement on the porch, and chimed in to hear her talking to her VA counselor. I could hear her telling him she was being abused. While the words hurt me, I wasn't entirely surprised; she's maintained the narrative she's in an abusive relationship since she got out of jail. Wha

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Be me. Sitting at a cramped on-post barbershop at a major MTF waiting for my other half to get his weekly buzz. Like many installation barbershops, the quarters in there are cramped. So, you're often sharing germs with those beside you, or those in chairs waiting to get buzzed.
So, be me. Sitting along the wall, fiddling with my phone. Another green suitor plops himself in the barber-chair next to the dumbass I married. I'm not phased, so don't bother to look up.
My phone buzzes. The bozo I'm married to, sitting three feet in front of and one seat across from me, has sent me a dumb meme. Laughter escapes my idiotic mouth, and I briefly look up to make eye contact with him & exchange a knowing smile. Before my eyes fall back to my phone, my eyes dart to the dude in the chair next to my husband. Rank looks too spikey to be an O5. I don't think those are tiny vertical squares either. My eyes squint. Maybe he's USAF and just wearing OCPs this particular day? I try to glance at his name-tape and branch of service. Army. I steal a glance at his rank again.
Fuck me. Not one, not two, but THREE stars on this dude's chest. I break out into an invisible sweat. Never been this physically close to someone with such high rank. Dude is sitting like three feet in front of me, staring squarely at me. Our knees are practically touching.

Few minutes later, my bozo is done getting his medium fade, and brings me mentally back to earth by waving his arm at me. As I stand up, without realizing the word-vomit that came out of my mouth, I blurted out: "you have a very impressive resume, sir."
Guy laughs. Reaches his hand out for a handshake. Waves us off and wishes us a nice day.
Frightening as that situation was, it also reminded me that, regardless of the rank, we're all human. Even if you've got stars on your chest, the green weenie still demands you look like a convict. And even if you've got stars on your chest, you still seek to save a dolla by seeing the Korean Karen's on post.

We told her she can lean on us for support. Although, we are going to have to change her driver's license, her height is going down by a foot. I don't want to go too far out on a limb here but it better not be a hack job.
