The Karamanli dynasty ruled Libya from 1711 until 1832 when they were deposed by the Ottomans. So is there a descendant family with the same name that still lives in Tripoli today ?

The Karamanlides were an Orthodox Christian ethnic group in the Ottoman Empire, who spoke a dialect of Turkish with heavy Greek borrowings, and wrote in the Hellenic script. During the Greco-Turkish War, they formed an autocephalus church in protest to the Patriarchate of Constantinople's backing of the Greek invasion of Anatolia, and electe Pope Eftin I as their leader; he was notorious for being taking the position the his people were descended from christian Turkopoles, rather than Turkified Byzantine peasants.
Because the Population Exchange that took place after the war was based on religion rather than ancestry, almost the entirety of the 300000+ Karamanlid Turks were deported to Greece. Likewise, large numbers of Muslim Greeks were expelled to Turkey, despite the fact that many groups within that demographic had supported and fought for Greece during the war, such as the Vallahades from Macedonia, and many Cretan Muslims. In the end both communities have since assimilated into their host countries, and can often only be recognized by their last names.
