... keep reading on reddit ➡The 2015 Kansas State Wildcats come into the season with something to prove. The last two seasons have ended 12-1, with 2 Big 12 titles to show for it. Still, it's left Coach Max Power and his players craving more.
"We need to take that next step. 2 years ago it was Ohio State in week 1. They came back from 17 down to beat us at the end. If we don't fall apart in the second half there, we are playing for a national title. We really let it slip through our hands. Last year it was a different team, but the same result. This time is was Nebraska in week 1. That game was a debacle from the word go. We never looked comfortable out there and a lot of it has to do with me." said Power.
Kansas State does definitely have to prove themselves before they are taken seriously. They certainly have the offensive talent to do so. Led by blazing fast SO- QB Russell Mayes, the Wildcat offense is in for big things yet again. Mayes was the nations leading passer and was rising the ranks of the Heisman with his 8 week stretch following the Nebraska game, before an injury knocked him out for the season. Sophomore Alex Delton burned his redshirt to replace Mayes, and the results were predictably up and down. With Mayes healthy once again, you can expect him to pick up right where left off.
Replacing stud RB Charles Jones will be SO- Justin Silmon and JR- Darmon Walmack. The hope is that those two can help offset the loss of such a great RB in Jones. With Mayes providing so mucy as a runner, the pressure won't be too much for the guys to handle.
Kansas State returns the nation's most prolific pass catcher from a year ago. With over 120 catches, JR- WR Dominique Heath proved he was the bell cow the offense needed. He paired with another Heath, his cousin Kalen, form quite an impressive duo. Kansas State also welcomes 4 good WR's from this years recruiting class. TE Glenn Gronkowski graduated and left for the NFL leaving what could be a huge void. 2013 starter, Dayton Valentine will step back into the role of lead TE.
The defense must replace a duo of pass rushers that rewrote the record books. Will Davis and Matt Moore combined for over 80 of the record 123 sacks Kansas State had a year ago. Called "cheese" by some around the nation, the defiant Power just raises his chin to stench of shit wofting his way.

Passing & Rushing:
The Kansas State Wildcats and The Louisiana State Tigers will face off in the last Non-Playoff Bowl Game of the FBS Season, The TaxAct Texas Bowl.
The edge in Rushing certainly lies with KSU. Deuce Vaughn is a stud and he's certainly going to be eager to perform for the Wildcats in his first career Bowl Game. On the other side, LSUs David-Price has opted out for the NFL Draft, leaving RB2 Corey Kiner to run the ball for the Tigers.
I would say that LSU has the edge in Passing, but with their QB1 moving over to Texas A&M, these passing stats for LSU mean almost nothing. Their QB2 is freshman Garret Nussmeier, whose only thrown 59 passes all year with an average QBR of 32 & he may not even start in order to reserve his red shirt status. That leaves QB3, Taivon Faulk more likely to get the start. Faulk is also a freshman and hasn't thrown a single pass in the FBS. With that, I also give the edge in Passing to KSU.
Defense & Special Teams:
Both teams come into this game with above average Defenses going against less than stellar Offenses. KSU stands out

Big Purple will be in McLane Stadium tomorrow, and they're also looking to bounce back: a loss to Texas last week, despite an admirable comeback attempt, had the Wildcats seeing red (or, more likely, burnt orange).
Either way, one team will bounce back, and one will slide farther from a bowl bid.

Baylor made major strides last week, giving #3 Oklahoma a big scare and nearly completing their upset bid. But the fact remains the Bears are winless, four games into the season. They have a chance to rectify that with a trip to the Little Apple to take on the Wildcats of Kansas State.
It's never a good idea to underestimate the Cats, especially when they're playing in Snyder Family Stadium under the direction of their legendary head coach, but Baylor's been showing steady improvement and seems poised for their first victory of the season.
