CHIYODA, TOKYO β A group of reporters was invited to the Portuguese embassy in Chiyoda ward to a press conference held by International Trade Minister Fukuda and a delegation consisting of the Portuguese Ambassador and local representatives from Timor-Leste, a small Portuguese colony occupying half an islandβthe other half being held by Indonesiaβin Southeast Asia. The Ambassador reiterated earlier plans for an independence referendum to be held in Timor-Leste in either 1970 or 1974, and introduced plans by which Japan has agreed to aid in this process.
The main part of this plan was economic in nature, with Japanese industry and investors supporting the development of Timor-Leste in order to ensure stability in preparation for its independence. The highlights were: Road and rail infrastructure to connect the disparate villages and towns Schools and libraries in regions which presently do not have access to them Clinics and small hospitals to serve rural areas Machinery for the textile industry as well as spare parts and Japanese engineers to aid in training local operators Military communications, troop transport, fuel, cargo and ambulance trucks to serve as part of the basis for a new Timor-Leste Defence Force
While much of the plan was left vague, some of the bigger-ticket items were explained in more detail. The rolling stock for the rail infrastructure would be delivered by Hitachi and would be non-high speed for cost and lack of necessity for high-speed rail and standard (1435mm) gauge to aid with compatibility compared to the much less common Iberian (1668mm) gauge of Portugal. The trucks would be produced by Toyota (troop and cargo transports), Isuzu (fuel tankers) and Mitsubishi (command/radio cars and ambulances).
Obayashi Group and Kajima Construction, two of Japanβs Big Five construction companies, were jointly awarded the construction contracts as part of this deal. Portugal would be responsible for the recruitment and training of teachers and librarians as well as setting education policy due to greater language and cultural familiarity. Daiichi Medical Co. Ltd, an up-and-coming manufacturer of medical devices, would provide diagnostic and surgical equipment to the new hospitals as well as a number of doctors and nurses to aid the Portuguese in training the local population.
All of this was in addition to Minister Fukuda announcing plans for low-interest loans to aid in further development of the country once a referendum has successfull

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π

The three WONDER Consortiums each specialized in a specific area of advancement, have confirmed a variety of new projects both independently and in some cases cooperatively with the other Consortiums. Project details can be found below.
The Euphrates Canal

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
