[Mandarin] 打鸡血 dǎ jī xuè (lit. to inject chicken blood) - Someone who is overly excited

I teach English to a native Mandarin speaker, and we were making fun of her son's American school teacher who sent an email in which nearly every sentence ended in one or more exclamation mark. "I'm so excited to teach your child! This is so exciting! Yahoo!!!" My student told me she 打鸡血, and described it as someone who feels so excited they feel overly powerful, and want to tell everyone, almost like they are on a drug. Some internet research indicated this originated from the Chinese medicine practice of actually injecting chicken blood which was banned in 1965. Jī Chhân(http://tech.fhl.net:8100/) is down

The address http://tech.fhl.net:8100/ has been inaccessible for several days. Does anyone here know any details about this site? Is it moved or under maintenance? Then when would it be back? I actually came here for inquiring things about Jī Chhân. I found this community from the results I got when I searched "http://tech.fhl.net:8100/" in Google search. It makes me really anxious that it's down for a while yet having no way to know what's happening. Seems that there's no project site or so for Jī Chhân now. I really need help since I need Jī Chhân very much.

Is there a dictionary online where you can type in the spelling of a word in Pe̍h-oē-jī and/or Tâi-Lô and get the corresponding characters?

Possibly also vice versa would be nice if it has it, but that's not necessary. It doesn't need to have any English or anything, either.

DAD JOKES ARE NOT DIRTY.

Go post NSFW jokes somewhere else. If I can't tell my kids this joke, then it is not a DAD JOKE.

If you feel it's appropriate to share NSFW jokes with your kids, that's on you. But a real, true dad joke should work for anyone's kid.

Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???

Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.

Thank you,

A Dad.

Pulled a Dad Joke on a Nurse

I am currently in the hospital. I had a back operation yesterday. The surgical nurse came in my room and started asking questions about my back. She asked me if I had any falls during the last year. I responded just one. It was after summer.

She laughed and said in 20 years of doing this she never was told that joke.

[Y1V4] How VIPs are decided

Many people don't understand how Ryuuen found out all VIPs. It is because they don't understand japanese. That is why this post.

Students are grouped together by school. School decides it that is why Ichinose was supposed to be in dragon group but was placed in rabbit. It is not based on Zodiac signs.

Chinese zodiac sign table

1.Rat – 鼠, shǔ (子) (Yang, 1st Trine, Fixed Element Water)

2.Ox – 牛, niú (丑) (Yin, 2nd Trine, Fixed Element Earth)

3.Tiger – 虎, hǔ (寅) (Yang, 3rd Trine, Fixed Element Wood)

4.Rabbit – 兔, tù (卯) (Yin, 4th Trine, Fixed Element Wood)

5.Dragon – 龙/龍, lóng (辰) (Yang, 1st Trine, Fixed Element Earth)

6.Snake – 蛇, shé (巳) (Yin, 2nd Trine, Fixed Element Fire)

7.Horse – 马/馬, mǎ (午) (Yang, 3rd Trine, Fixed Element Fire)

8.Goat – 羊, yáng (未) (Yin, 4th Trine, Fixed Element Earth)

9.Monkey – 猴, hóu (申) (Yang, 1st Trine, Fixed Element Metal)

10.Rooster – 鸡/雞, jī (酉) (Yin, 2nd Trine, Fixed Element Metal)

11.Dog – 狗, gǒu (戌) (Yang, 3rd Trine, Fixed Element Earth)

12.Pig – 猪/豬, zhū (亥) (Yin, 4th Trine, Fixed Element Water)

Rabbit group is 4th.

Members -

Class

A Kōji Machida

Shigeru Takemoto

Takurō Morishige

B

Honami Ichinose

Tetsuya Hamaguchi

Ryōta Beppu

C

Mio Ibuki

Shiho Manabe

Nanami Yabu

Saki Yamashita

D

Kiyotaka Ayanokōji

Kei Karuizawa

Hideo Sotomura

Teruhiko Yukimura

Arrange the last name of participants in order using hiragana Table, 4th person is VIP. For dragon group it is 5th.

Hiragana Table Read from top to bottom, left to right

First is 'A'. Ayanokouji's last name starts with 'A'. Likewise then it will be Ichinose, Ibuki, and 4th will be Karuizawa, then Sotomura and then in follows. You just need to know surnames of the people in your group. Ryuuen confirmed it by checking 3 VIPs from his class. That's it.
