Hey there.
I really don't know the exact reason, but for some reason I love one really sad movie. I don't why sadness in this movies touches me so hard. Or why would anyone even enjoy a sad movie. I doesn't really makes sense, we should enjoy happy movies, not sad ones. But at the end of the day, this is the kind of film that is hard to stop thinking about.
The movie tells a story about a man trapped in a dogs body. (That's really all I can tell without spoiling too much, but it should be enough.) To me, it's a movie about accepting who you are. Some things in life are unchangable. You just have to live with some facts. Maybe you are intelligent person, stuck in mentally challenged persons body. Or maybe you are person with working legs, stuck in a wheelchair persons body. Or even a sighted person, stuck in blind mans body. Simply put, you have something in yourself, that has been really difficult to accept as it is. Well, if you feel that way, this movie is definitely for you.
It's called Fluke. The movie was made in 1995 and directed by Carlo Carlei. The movie starrs Matthew Modine, Nancy Travis, Max Pomeranc, Eric Stoltz and Samuel L. Jackson. Other minor roles are played by Collin Wilcox-Paxton, Ron Perlman, Jon Polito and Bill Cobbs. The composer of this movie is Carlo Siliotto, who did a really good job. The music in this movie is very beautiful and touching.
Even though this movie was originally marketed as familiy-friendly, I would probably recommend it for 16 years or older.

Background
I've had the full DVD set of this show for probably twenty years. I've watched the first episode a few times and the following couple of episodes maybe but never actually put it on my watchlist. After coming off another full rewatch of The West Wing, I figured I should knuckle down and watch it soup to nuts. I've read the book but again that was twenty years ago and I can't remember any of it.
I'm not from the US and so I may well get job titles and other Americana wrong.

Plot
The show opens with two cops, Steve Crosetti & Meldrick Lewis (C&L) who are searching for shell casings and clues at the scene of the homicide of a Becker, shot dead at night. Crosetti mentions the Lincoln assassination and you know it's not for the first time.
After the opening titles, the viewer's introduction to the police unit and its people is through a new boy, Tim Bayliss, on his first day there. It doesn't start well when he introduces himself to the wrong guy he thinks is the boss. Along the way he interacts with Lewis and Felton, and the real boss Giardello fills him in on the way it works here: two people teams (one the primary and the other the secondary) working each case, with a wall filled with victims' names in either black (solved) or red (open). Bayliss is here from the "Mayor's Detail" and I'm guessing he called in a favour. Saved his life? Blackmail? Nepotism? He seems awful young and naive.
We cut to Munch & Bolander (M&B) at a double stabbing as they talk to a suspect in A&E with knife wounds.
And from there to the victim of the first crime as Crosetti & Lewis try to talk to a barely conscious shooting survivor.

Anyone think Artie doesn’t just memorize lines of his favorite movies, but could actually do really well in a gangster film?
If they were to remake Miller’s Crossing (which pray to God they never do…), would he not be perfect for the part of Jonny Caspar played by Jon Polito?
Anyone else have any other idea for parts Artie could have done if things had been different/time wasn’t a factor in drama/noir/thriller films or shows?
I've always maintained Season 4 was the best season, partly because I think The Nightman Cometh is the best episode of any sitcom ever. But after seeing posts here where people were arguing Season 7 was better, I gave it a shot and rewatched it straight through. I still love Season 4, but I will say Season 7 is probanly equal. (People criticize Frank's Brother, but Jon Polito is always great, and I love that episode.) What I'm curious about - is there an argument to made the best season is something other than Season 4 or 7?
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
