It is a pretty long post and an interesting read. As a missionary kid who also grew up surrounded by religion, I can definitely identify with his analogy of "slowly pulling on sweater threads and then suddenly realizing there is no more sweater"

He has some pretty good points about the bible too. I remember the last church service I went to had a sermon about the Abraham story that Jon references in his post. The point of the message was how strong Abraham's faith was for believing that god would provide for him even if he was being asked to murder his own son. I couldn't think past "this dude got convinced that he needed to kill his own son. That's not faith, that's fucked up." And now that I am on the outside looking in, yeah... the bible isn't some wonderful, mysterious thing any more. It's just an old book. It has some good stuff. Some bad stuff. Some real stuff. Some made up stuff.

The comments are also interesting. I haven't seen any overly hostile ones. Several are along the lines of "I know God is real and he will reveal himself to you!" well maybe god should have done that when Jon was still actively searching instead of using his omnipotence to win at hide-and-seek. But there is also a lot of support in the comments. If I had an IG account I might comment and mention The Clergy Project for those other people he talks about who are doubting hard but still in positions of Christian leadership.

I was just thinking about this. I dont think Jon could beat Big Foot or Barnett. But I could see DC beating Lyoto, shogun, rashad, gus, and texiera with ease imo.

I have looked but I can't seem to find a definite answer. The last show I went to he was there. Birmingham, AL Nov/2014. I missed the ATL show at the masquerade in April of this year.
