We should know by now not to be surprised by any of Trader Jon Robinson’s wheelings and dealings.
Who would have expected DeMarco Murray to land in the Titans’ backfield for a mere exchange of fourth-round draft picks in 2016? Who could have guessed that seemingly gifted wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham would be shipped to Philadelphia during training camp 2016 after just one season, for tackle Dennis Kelly?
We certainly can’t forget the dealing of the No. 1 overall draft pick in 2016 for the famed “King’s Ransom.”
But Robinson’s decision to trade five-time Pro Bowler Jurrell Casey to Denver on Wednesday still had that earth-shaking feel to it. And it’s not just because in dealing Casey, Robinson was moving a player who’d posted at least five sacks for seven straight years, a leader who’d been voted a team captain six straight years.
It’s because there’s nothing really tangible, nothing to stand up and cheer about — not immediately, anyway — in terms of what the Titans received in return.
The point of the trade, of course, was not the seventh-round pick the Broncos sent the Titans.
It was instead about opening up salary-cap space this year and in the future. Per overthecap.com, Casey was due to count $13.4 million against the cap this year, $13.9 in 2021 and $13.9 in 2022. A big chunk — $5.45 million of Casey’s 2020 salary — would have been guaranteed on March 22, per spotrac.com. That’s a lot of money for a 30-year-old defensive lineman, even one as talented and respected as Casey.
But the acquisition of salary-cap space, as important as it is, doesn’t exactly get the fan base as fired up as obtaining a player — or draft picks. You can’t point to the statistical track record of cap room, can’t buy a new jersey with cap room’s number on it, can’t marvel over the treasure trove of young talent on the way due to cap room.
Defending the decision to trade one of the team’s best players by saying, “Hey, the Titans now have $37.9 million dollars to use, 11th-best in the NFL! (per Spotrac)” — isn’t necessarily an easy task.
When cap room all of a sudden looks great, of course, is when it’s put to use, when it leads to someone the fans can wrap their minds around with more enthusiasm. Maybe this extra cash will help sign Derrick Henry to a long-term contract. Maybe it will help cornerback Logan Ryan return. Maybe it will help land Jadeveon Clowney, especially now that there’s a big hole on the defense. Plenty of

This scene seems to set up so much that comes later. This is right after Ben Adler has shown back up on the Resolute and is showing the Robinsons Scarecrow. Now, the positioning here is interesting . Maureen the scientist should be the one more interested in Scarecrow at this point, with Scarecrow "safely" locked in his cage, but it is John who is pressed up against the window watching Scarecrow get tortured into submission, and he looks very, very disturbed.
Throughtout the show John is the only human who is shown to express empathy for the robots on a more intellectual level. Sure, Will loves Robot, but John is almost always more likely to be able to figure out what Robot is saying in complicated situations. John has a pretty good idea by now that robot is a person. So while Maureen just sees a dangerous machine being restrained.
John is watching a person being tortured, and he does not like it.
Not to beat a dead horse, and Gypsy sure doesn't deserve it, but the way the show handeled his relationship was the robots was too good for words! That makes it all the more painful that we never got to see Scarecrows final arc and John's and Robot's final arc...
Stockton was probably the last person I would have guessed to lead that roster in BPG.
He led them in total blocks too.
Even weirder, he was 5th in assists with Payton, Hardaway, Hill and Pippen ahead of him.
Barkley dominated yet again. He led the team in scoring on 81 FG% and led them in rebounds too
