Year Twenty: How much we've done; How much more remains.

Previous issue: Year One: How far we've come; How far we'll go.

> * 1 June 2041

>It has been two decades since that fateful morning in 2021, when Southeast Asia awoke to a world aflame and their worst fears come to life. This Persekutuan took its first, hesitant steps into the harsh light of a brave new world, blinking and mewling like a babe in its reluctance and uncertainty.

>It was only thanks to the leadership of this Persekutuan's founders - President Joko Widodo, Sultan Abdullah of Pahang, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah - that Nusantara was able to build a better union for the people of this archipelago. Beset at all sides by jealous eyes and power-hungry empires, reliant on trade in a suddenly deglobalized world, and united by the faintest cultural ties and a shared reluctance to give up hard-won independence, the nations of these Outer Islands took a bad hand and did the best that they could.

>Today, Nusantara stands apart as a paragon to the world - one of resilience, independence, and quiet sovereignty. From its megalopolises hail inventors, innovators, leaders, and cultural hearthrobs. On the world stage, this Archipelago is regarded with muted respect, winning partners and friends through hushed words and careful planning. Peaceful coexistence, that hallmark of Nusantaran diplomacy, has led to a prosperous Indo-Pacific, one built upon pre-Collapse tradition and post-America norms.

>Despite moves towards centralization, Nusantara remains at its core a loose federation - a [mandala](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandala_(political_model)) of mandalas, if you will - founded upon personal ties and a mutual desire to not be minnows in an ocean of sharks. Its core ideology, that of Pancasila, is in practice pragmatic

[EVENT] More infrastructure to be completed

In line with the 13^th Malaysia Plan, more infrastructure projects that are long overdue by the previous government will be continued or restarted in the peninsula. Those selected for this year are:

KL-Singapore High Speed Rail, Phase II
Phase I of the HSR project was completed in 2022, with the terminal in Jurong East, Singapore and Bandar Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. Phase II will be critical to developing the country's north, introducing non-stop service between Penang and KLIA. Other stops at Ipoh and Taiping will receive intercity HSR services. Cameron Highlands will be more accessible through Ipoh and to that end, route A181 will be widened to account for expected traffic increase to the popular holiday destination. Expected completion: 2036

East Coast Expressway, Phases III & IV
Phase III will connect Kota Bharu to Kuala Terengganu, while Phase IV will connect Kuantan to Johor Bahru. A total of 400 km of expressways will finally connect the entire eastern coast with expressways. Phase IV in particular will be crucial to improve the flow of goods in eastern Johor and Pahang, which are seeing increasing industrial activity in the mining, agriculture (palm oil), logging and manufacturing. Expected completion: Phase III by 2033, Phase IV by 2034.

Malaysiaโ€“Singapore Third Crossing
Singapore is Malaysia's second largest export destination after China. The current two crossings are operating at full capacity, and exceed capacity during busy periods such as the holiday season, causing congestion on both sides. A third bridge, linking Singapore's Changi region with Pengerang, Johor would alleviate the congestion at current crossings and provide a boost to real estate, tourism and industry on both sides. The existing roads from Pengerang to Johor Bahru will be upgraded to expressways. Expected completion: 2034

What Would You Like To See Vila Nabila Turn Into ? ( Survey )

Hello, my dad have a huge piece of land that was passed on to him from the previous owner, I'd like to believe most Malaysians wouldn't be stranger to this piece of "land". It's the infamous Vila Nabila that is located in Johor Bahru.

We are considering making it public, in a way that everyone can access and enjoy what it's going to be built in the future, but before we go there, we need to hear what Malaysian wants to see Vila Nabila turn into ? To do that, I have created a short survey that would not take up much of your time, less than 5 minutes if you will. We really appreciate any kind of response and if you have any suggestions please do let us know, we are open to all things considered. Thank you so very much !

Inquiring about the proposed BRT plans of Johor Bahru

One of the buses (or trams, as they look like one) used for the future BRT system.

ENG

To anyone living in the Iskandar Malaysia region:

There is a plan to build a BRT system for Iskandar Malaysia, linking Johor Bahru with Iskandar Puteri, Skudai and Tebrau, using a dedicated grade-separated roadways for buses to travel through.

Phase 1 would connect 90% of the population of Iskandar Malaysia, and it is said to be convenient, reliable, safe and fast, with extensive connectivity.

This would be good for the people there, but in my opinion, I do not think a BRT is suitable for Johor Bahru. What would you think about BRT? Should they do something better, like maybe build a commuter, LRT or MRT? Give me some answers and I would see about that.

BM

[Games] World of Warcraft (Part 1: Beta and Vanilla) - dinosaur cartels, naked gnome protest marches, racist stereotypes, funeral massacres, and elf orgies in a tavern in the woods

In this series I'll be covering most of WoW's biggest controversies, dramas and scandals, as well as plenty of smaller, weird little tales. Any one of these is worthy of its own write-up, but I assume no one wants to see 50+ different World of Warcraft related posts. By the time I finished writing up all the weird shit from WoW's first release, I had double the character count of a single post. And WoW has nine expansions and several spin offs, not to mention drama at its parent company, Activision-Blizzard. So I have decided to split this post up into parts. As for the entries in this post, Iโ€™ve tried to put them in chronological order, but there are some dramas that stretched out over many years โ€“ and in those cases, I placed them where they started.

What is World of Warcraft?

While Iโ€™m sure almost everyone has at least some idea of what WoW is, Iโ€™ll give a little overview. World of Warcraft is an MMORPG developed by Blizzard Entertainment โ€“ a fantasy game which takes place in the colossal online world of Azeroth, where players can quest, fight, and interact with other players. There are two factions โ€“ the Horde and the Alliance โ€“ each had separate playable races, separate cities, economies, questlines, politics, backstories, and attitudes. The factions acted as the cornerstone for the gameโ€™s PvP.

WoW was an immediate hit when it first came out in November 2004. It followed on the heels of games like Everquest and Ultima Online, but completely reinvented the formula, with more player conveniences, far greater variety, graphical fidelity, and storytelling. It was a breath of fresh air in an otherwise stagnating genre, and went on to dominate the MMORPG genre for two decades. Here is a video beginnerโ€™s guide to those who need it.

#Part One - Beta and Vanilla

โ€˜Vanillaโ€™ is the term players use to refer to the game upon its release. The game was unpolished, its community a wild west where anything went. The rules and expectations of MMORPGs hadnโ€™t really been figured out yet, and so this is when a lot of WoWโ€™s strangest dramas took place. We wonโ€™t be touching crazes like the hilarious Onyxia Wipe or Leeroy Jenkins or The Talisman of Binding Shard, because there isnโ€™t really enough meat on the bones there. But theyโ€™re fun to go back to anyway.

Is there a relationship between tree seed size, shade tolerance, dispersal method, and successional niche?

I'm working on a proposal for my grad project and in the background I made the comment that: "Shade intolerant pioneer species trend towards small, wind dispersed seeds while shade tolerant trees trend toward larger, animal dispersed seeds." My advisor called me out on this suggesting I needed to cite this, which is reasonable, but I'm having a hard time finding anything that describes this all together. I've seen some papers suggesting parts of it, namely the relationship between seed size and shade tolerance, but less that link dispersal to successional niche.

My advisor also asked if it was my own idea entirely, which I didn't think it was, but am I just making this up? Somewhere along the line I thought it was established that earlier successional trees trend toward being wind dispersed and would in turn have lighter seeds than later successional trees, but is that not as true as I'm assuming? (I get there are always exceptions, though) I'm thinking namely about birches and maples in a general Eastern Temperate context. I also probably shouldn't specify 'animal dispersed' as heavier seeds can be moved otherwise, as well.

So to sum up my question: am I just making up this relationship or is this as established as I thought it was?

Trip Report: the Mesa de Anguila in Big Bend- How I Missed One of the Most Important Moments in U.S. History

When: January 6th, 2021 -January 7th, 2021

Distance: 29.85 Miles

Conditions: Highs in the 70s, Lows in the 20s. Clear skies.

Gearlist: Pretty much the same gearlist from my Big Bend 100 thru-hike.

*Thereโ€™s a TLDR and a gear review section towards the bottom of the post, if you donโ€™t want to read this long winded allegory about a hike I did. If you wanna see small overviews of each day with corresponding pictures, take a look at my Instagram starting here. If you want to read the trip report with pictures from my hike, you can visit my website here.

Useful Pre-Trip Information:

The Mesa de Anguila is one of the least visited and most secluded regions in all of the Big Bend region. Most backpackers only know about the Mesa because the Big Bend 100 cuts through it. To be honest, although you get a sneak peak of the beauty the Mesa de Anguila has to offer while on the BB100, the route leaves out the best sights and sounds itโ€™s alien-like landscape has to offer.

In my BB100 guide, I provide a map that includes some of the points of interest sprinkled within the Mesa. Where you could see evidence of ancient peoples, slot canyons, access to the Rio, etc. What I leave out are the game trails, the "best routeโ€ through the southern section, flat spots for dispersed camping, etc. It took me days to source the information from public spaces, it's up to you to make your adventure.

Be aware, there are some false cairns strewn throughout the Mesa, so if you feel you're getting off track, it might be a good idea to double check your map and GPS. Note also that although there are tinajas labeled on on the map, there is no guarantee that there is ANY water inside of them. Many are also very hard to get to, and even more difficult to get out of.

Prologue

I have famously missed huge events in my life and in the greater culture while out on backpacking trips. While out on the Guadalupe Ridge Trail in March 2

##War Plan Gunji - All provisions for the Liberation of the Chishima Islands and Karafuto

War Plan Gunji represents the apex of the National Restoration Associationโ€™s ambitions in the north and further exemplifies the concern Japan feels from Russian aggression in the west. We will not let the colonisers use our land as a staging point from which they will orchestrate our subjugation, and to prevent this we will stop at nothing.

War Plan Gunji is a plan that has been in planning for years purely amongst the Prime Minister and his Chiefs of Staff in the armed forces. This small group of men have slowly and surely been preparing Japan for war by moving the pieces and unwittingly preparing forces for this endeavour.

The great preparations for this coming attack have been disguised under the auspices of a standard deployment exercise featuring Japanโ€™s Ninth Army under which the Imperial Guard and many of Japanโ€™s rapid reaction forces operate in times of war. Land, Sea, and Air forces across the country had been gathering war fighting supplies and had been preparing to deploy to the exercise when the Imperial Chief of Staff passed down encrypted orders that were to be decrypted with keys released at specific times. This was standard practice for orders, even on deployment exercises, to simulate proper operations security. What was no standard, however, was the content of the orders.

Gathered early morning on the 6th of May 2032, soldiers, sailors and airmen all gathered around their officers as they received the official order confirming their deployment. As was practice, all units involved immediately prepared for war and cut all telecommunications contact, ready to move when ready.

Units involved will be stripped of insignia. For the first hours there will officially be no Japanese attack on Russia, and the government will go silent. Only when the Rising Sun flies over our rightful land will the world know of our drastic measures to secure peace.

##Preparations for War Plan Gunji

War Plan Gunjiโ€™s code word is โ€œClimb Mount Takeโ€. All units upon receiving this order will understand that all constituent operations are underway and will move to me

An Abridged and Totally Unbiased History of Modern Malaysian Politics: The Era of Unrest

It was a time of celebration in the town of Sibu. Standing tall and greeting the school children, after inspecting the honour guard. It was his first official tour around the territory so of course there would at least be a crowd of curious onlookers. The man was wearing a pure white uniform with his large white hat to match.

Then, a young man comes forward, holding a camera. He wants to take a picture. โ€œWhy not?โ€ the governor thought to himself. His new position was expected to be rather calm. Any unrest had already been quelled by then so there should be no danger to him. Might as well get close to the locals. The governor accepted the request with a smile.

A second man wearing a songkok walked up towards the governor as he was posing for the camera. The youth with the camera was smiling at the other man.

Blood. Shock. Pain. It was 4th December 1949.

The knife Rosli Dhobi was holding was lodged deep within Sir Duncan George Stewartโ€™s gut as the crowd stepped back. Rosli pulled the knife out. You could hear someone screaming โ€œMurder!โ€ as the Scotsman staggered back from the knife. Officials quickly rushed to the two young men and arrested them before they could make their escape.

The officials asked the governor whether he was fine. Holding in the pain, the governor smiled and assured everyone that he was not seriously hurt and that everything was under control. Sir Duncan tried to act as if the assassination attempt didnโ€™t happen but he was rushed for treatment when his uniform was stained blood red around the stab wound.

Sir Duncan George Stewart will soon succumb to the dance of Death a week later, lying down in a hospital in Singapore. Rosli Dhobi and his accomplice shall live a bit longer, being hanged in the gallows of Kuching Central Prison on 2nd March 1950. Rosli Dhobi was only 17.

The period following World War 2 was one of turmoil, especially during the colonies at that time. The age of great unrest and agitation. Rosli Dhobiโ€™s radical action was not that strange compared to other movements at the time in Malaysia. For example, the Malayan Communist Party (MCP) had launched an insurgency against the colonial government the year before while Malay nationalists had launched an anti-Malayan Union campaign through the newly established United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) while Rosli Dhobi was part of a greater movement to protest the secession of Sarawak to the British Empire. In Sabah meanwhile...not much really happ

Last night's USA west coast UFO will reappear tonight! (because it's Starlink)

Several people reported a "cigar-shaped UFO" from California and neighboring areas Thursday evening, and some obtained nice video of the "object". This was actually the satellite train of the Starlink G4-3 group at the end of its first orbit around the Earth. The rocket launch was at 6:13 pm EST; the satellites were deployed from the rocket body at about 7:30 pm somewhere over the eastern hemisphere and hence were still very close together when they passed over California an hour later.

Fortunately there will be another opportunity to see the same object this evening (Friday December 3); actually two opportunities for different portions of the United States.

The first of these will occur from about 7:05 to 7:11 pm EST (6:05-6:11 CST) when the train will be visible from a large portion of the southern and midwestern United States along a path roughly from San Antonio to Shreveport to Memphis to Louisville. For people near this line, the satellites will pass nearly overhead, but since they are hundreds of kilometers high, people on either side of the line can also see the satellites from even hundreds of kilometers away. The train of satellites will emerge from beneath the southwestern horizon and then take several minutes to cross the sky. They will pass into Earth's shadow at about 6:10:30 CST over Indiana, so one would then see them gradually fading from view over a period of several seconds. Observers further northeast will be out of luck because while the satellites will pass over, they won't be visible.

Here's a map of the ground path of the first pass:

https://www.heavens-above.com/gtrack.aspx?satid=73219&mjd=59552.0064451031&lat=35.03&lng=-90.0103&loc=Unnamed&alt=0&tz=CST

The diagonal line is the satellite train's path above the ground; the numbers signify the time at which the satellite will reach that point.

On its next orbit G4-3 will pass over the southwestern United States. The train will again emerge over the southwestern horizon and might be detectable by about 5:39 pm PST from southern California. This event might be a little more difficult to see than the earlier pass because it occurs about one hour after sunset when there may still be some lingering twilight, but I think it will probably be adequately dark by then. This event should be viewable for most of Calif

A project you all might appreciate: Ecology, community, and resilience with chestnuts

Hi all,

I'm really glad this forum was created. To know how bad things are and not be able to take any action to make things better is such a burden. So I'm sharing a project and great widely dispersed group that I've connected with that has a goal of getting a million chestnuts planted over the next 10 years. Other staple food trees are great too if chestnuts aren't suited to your area (mesquite, carob, breadfruit etc.) but this group is largely focused on the ways we can be responding to climate change and biodiversity loss in ways that build soil, community, and resilience.

So: Why chestnuts? I'm going to reference the group's wiki here:

We're often asked why we've chosen to place focus specifically on chestnuts.

  • For much of the northern hemisphere, beech-family ecosystems are an important carbon sequestration landscape. They share a niche that provides food and habitat for many organisms, and many are compatible with regenerative human food systems. Oaks and beeches are not consistent producers, and they require some processing. Chestnuts, however, produce nuts annually and often for centuries. Chestnuts have been integral to food systems all over the Northern Hemisphere, including in Italy, Spain, Corsica, Korea, China, and the Eastern forests of North America.
  • Chestnuts are perennial. If you plant corn or wheat, you have to do it again next year. If you plant chestnuts, you can produce food for the next 5000 years.
  • Chestnuts are nutritious, more like a grain than a nut. They can be eaten roasted or dried and milled into flour for bread, pasta, and desserts.
  • One chestnut tree can provide around half the grain needs of an adult human. This means that chestnuts trees can help replace soil-damaging and tillage-intensive annual grain agriculture, which is currently contributing to erosion, soil death, carbon loss, nitrates in groundwater, and dead zones in oceans.
  • Chestnut population can be quickly increased, because they start producing nuts in 2-5 years.
  • They produce a staple crop with room underneath. Mature chestnut trees can produce the same amount of food as a cornfield, but unlike corn, they produce in a canopy. There is room underneath them to grow other crops, foster native plant restoration, or to walk on streets and sidewalks. Because of this quality, chestnuts have the potential to bring staple food production into urban and residential spaces. This would allow us to shift the large landscape back to wild systems,

I'm Cybrxkhan, creator of the Regional Immersion and Cultural Enrichment (RICE) mod for CK3, which adds simple "Flavor Packs'' to different parts of the world (Steam link here). In today's dev diary, I'll cover RICE's upcoming Sus Flavor Pack. Iโ€™m not just memeing - Sus is a region in southern Morocco and this flavor pack adds new content in southern Morocco, though some of it is available to North and West Africa in general. Please note everything here is WIP.

The next update will hopefully be a two-parter and also include a Guanche Flavor Pack as part of another collaboration with BlackEmperor's Africa Plus mod, but Iโ€™ll cover that in the next dev diary.

Like the Maritime Trade Dynastic Legacy introduced in the Socotra Flavor Pack to represent political involvement in the Indian Ocean sea trade (or the Maritime Silk Road), the Sus Flavor Pack introduces the Trans-Saharan Trade Dynastic Legacy, available to rulers in North Africa and the Sahel. Its five perks mostly have various economic bonuses (some are connected to the Trans-Saharan merchant spawn which I'll explain later):

  • Ships of the Desert
  • Gold and Salt
  • Legacy of Syncretism
  • Fortified Oases
  • African Scholars

Argan and Dates

Several counties in the Duchy of Sus as well as the Counties of Tindouf and Asfi now have a special building called Argan Forests. Argan is a species of tree endemic to southern Morocco, particularly the Sus river valley. It has had many practical uses over the centuries, though recently it has become popular worldwide as a source of cooking and fragrant oil. A peculiar phenomenon with Argan is that goats literally climb these trees to feed on the leaves, fruits, and nuts. It is often said argan nuts found in the goatsโ€™ feces are easier to crack to access the v

Is moving to Johor Bahru a good option?

For context I am a 27f British Muslim Arab and I'm thinking about this move in 3 years time. Nothing soon. I work full time but I have two side projects that are making me some money. Not significant money but hoping that it will grow. I was telling my Singaporean friend that I wanted to do something new and move abroad and how Malaysia seemed like a good option. She recommended Johor Bahru saying that it was a good city, relatively cheap, good for shopping and close enough that I could visit her on weekends.

I know that compared to UK, salaries aren't that great in Malaysia unless you're working for an international company so I'm trying to set myself up so that I make enough money from my side projects to live and can continue to develop them whilst working in Malaysia.

People have told me different things. Most Muslims I know have some cousin or friend who moved to Malaysia and absolutely loves it. The humidity isn't ideal but you can't have everything. I know JB is also more run down compared to other places. Not as developed and pot holes too and transport links aren't ideal.

My questions are: How much money would I need to be making in order to live comfortably in Malaysia?
Is Johor Bahru a good place to consider?
How Muslim is it in JB or any other city? I know about the abundance of halal food.
What would the car situation be like? Is it easy to buy a car?
And does anyone have any experience on the whole residency/visa issue as a brit?

I had intended to go to Malaysia last year but covid. So I'm hoping to visit next year for a holiday.

The Jackal Guards (Beta Reading) Chapter 18

Chapter 18: Beyond the Bamboo Curtain

Mustahil, Shabelle River Basin, Ethiopian Highland

June 29th, 2025, 20:45 Hours

The rumbling of armored vehicles rattled soils and gravels as they sped through the sandy countryside. Under the starry night sky, the Jackal Guards advanced as though they were under a shroud of invisibility. Horus sat in his humvee with Temujin and Roxanna as they drove up the road heading towards the Ant-Hill. The convoy they led turned their lights off and navigated using the starry night sky and their own night visions.

The security elements were Ethiopian exiled troops that Chima could gather. While lacking heavy weapons in abundant quantities, they made up for it with their knowledge of the terrain. On high, they set up observation posts for artillery spotters. On the road, they set up checkpoints to keep the route open. Around them were the roars or howitzers from both sides trading shots and counter batteries at each other.

"Words from the Scribe said enemy SAMs are still active in the area. So that limited our air support options. The Ant-Hill is the prime real-estate for enemy radar-guided SAMs and MANPADs." Horus briefed them. "So we have to slog in and smoke them out." Temujin sighed out. He sounded exasperated and nervous about the prospect.

"That's right. We have to slog through and burn it down. The Ethiopian lack heavy weapons, so it's up to us as the shock troops." Horus concluded. The convoy soon heard the howling sound of rocket artillery as rounds came down on the highway. "Get off the road! Dismount, dismount!" Horus shouted as his driver swiveled the wheel and stopped just off the road, allowing him, Roxanna, and Temujin to dismount. The Sobek IFVs of their convoy quickly stopped and scattered to either side of the road. Their passengers dismounted and scrambled into bombed-out craters.

Inquisitor Ramesses ran up to Horus and crouched down next to him, accompanied by Rezat and Archer. "I bet they got every inch of this road dialed in. But even so, the speed suggests there's an enemy lookout nearby." The Inquisitor noted, cringing at the occasional mortar shell detonating near their position. "Above or below?" Horus asked. The Inquisitor grunted when another mortar shell rumbled the ground close to them. "Below. Close by but shielded from air and artillery strikes." He pointed over to a nearby village across the Shebelle River, where a mosque was by the riverbanks.

Kremlin "pyramid" UFO.

In response to this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/pxzjs3/huge_tetrahedron_ufo_over_the_pentagon_and/

Its not the first time "pyramid" was seen or captured on tape.

TLDR: it is sky glare. Not ufo. Spotlights reflect into the sky from the ice rink. Source: https://kosmopoisk.org/articles/zaklyuchenie_po_delu_nlo_nad_kremlem_1224.html

-

In December 2009, 2 videos appeared on the Internet, captured from different angles a large unidentified flying object in the form of a tetrahedron over the Kremlin. They are called "night" and "day" plot.

Video 1 - "night" plot

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEx1I3SDjNo

Video 2 - "daytime" plot

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ir0eYuDy2Gc - (OP: The author has restricted access to the video. Here, with timecode you can see it again: https://youtu.be/X8oncuGqyhg?t=112)

Here it is, the first generally accepted mistake: the so-called "daytime" recording was actually also made in the dark, this can be seen from the lights in the frame, the recording itself was made by an infrared tracking camera (of which there are many in the center of Moscow) or, most likely, an interactive camera (first and other camera strongly "brighten" the night sky in their image, making the recording seem like daylight to the viewer). Most believe that the shooting was made on the same day, but at different times. And although we have already stipulated their involvement in the evening-night period, nevertheless, conditionally, we will continue to call them โ€œnightโ€ and so-called "daytimeโ€.

pic
The date of their shooting called differently, mainly in the range from 9 to 19 December. The majority only know that the first video was posted at YouTube on December 10, from that moment it began to be copied and commented on the Internet. The peak of fame, thanks to screenings on TV, this story reached around December 20. At the same time, of course, commentators indicated in the TV plots that "film has just been filmed," hence the rumors that refer to the end of December.

In fact, the first message about the "night" story appeared much earlier, at the very beginning of Decem

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

WOW: Weed Of the Weekend

I present our Weed Of the Weekend: buffalo grass

buffalo grass, Stenotaphrum secundatum

Description:

  • A long-lived creeping grass usually growing 10-30 cm tall.
  • It regularly produces roots along its creeping stems and also sends up short upright flowering stems.
  • It's long and narrow leaves (2-30 cm long and 3-12 mm wide) are often folded lengthwise and usually have rounded tips.
  • It's seed-heads (3-15 cm long) consist of flower spikelets partially sunken into a broad flattened stalk.

Impacts:

  • A very widespread introduced lawn grass that is most commonly naturalised in the coastal districts of southern and eastern Australia.
  • Buffalo grass (Stenotaphrum secundatum) is regarded as an environmental weed in Victoria, Western Australia, New South Wales, South Australia and south-eastern Queensland.
  • Buffalo grass (Stenotaphrum secundatum) reproduces by seed and also vegetatively via its creeping stems. This species is often spread to new areas through its cultivation as a lawn and turf grass. Seeds and stem segments are dispersed in dumped garden waste, and may also be spread by water, animals and vehicles.

Control:

  • Foliar spray
  • Slashing and mowing

weeping grass, Microlaena stipoides

Waaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh? You thought Australia didn't have native grass suitable for lawn substitutes? Well there are a few! After all, grasses are the preferred diet of many of our native kangaroos, wallabies etc.

Why not buy some seeds and throw them on a bare patch you have?

Just because it's a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke

Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB

Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"

I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual

So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes

r/unclejokes for dirty jokes

r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC

r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes

Punchline !

Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub

Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat

RICE Mod Dev Diary #15 - Sus Flavor Pack: Door of the Sahara

Lastly, before I continue, feel free to check out the new official website for more info on my mods. Also feel free to check out the official discord for my mods if you havenโ€™t already.
