Hello again, just continuing with these because I love talking about books with my girlfriend, but she wants to read these soon so I have to keep quiet. Spoilers here on out.
I'm on my second cycle so I got more time to think about Jake and the role Ka has for him instead of only being completely destroyed by seeing him get die again. This being his third death, I thought it was interesting that it was a combination of his last two deaths on his Tower journey- getting hit by the car and Roland letting him drop. Instead of just getting selected by ka and being placed in Roland's path, or instead of being sacrificed, he has taken matters into his own hands by sacrificing himself and once again getting hit by a car. No Walter to come to his aid this time of course. And this time Roland lost more than The Boy. He lost his son. It hurts.
On this cycle I didn't relate to Jake as much but I'd be god damned if I tried to imagine this story without him. It's so nice seeing Susannah love him as a mother, seeing Eddie kid around with him, the fierce loyalty between him and Oy (not to mention what I think we can all agree is the saddest line in this entire series, you know what I'm talking about). It makes me so happy to see him and Roland as they are at the end of Jake's wheel. I'm proud of seeing him leading Father Callahan through the Dixie Pig. He was a younger gunslinger than Roland was and it showed in how he had to conduct himself, both for the good and the bad. The farther I get in this book the more I just want to put it down and let Susannah have her central park with Mr. MERRY and Mr. CHRISTMAS. Hile, Jake.
With the rise in popularity/recognition of Queen after BoRhap, I really hope people are respecting John's decision to back away from being more socially active. After learning about why he retired, it annoys me to see images of people trying to sneak pictures of him in passing. I don't know his lifestyle, and I don't need to know. I just hope he doesn't have to dodge paparazzi left and right to get do what he wants.
Tl;dr I'm just hoping people are respecting him and his wishes as the legend he is, and are giving him the privacy he deserves.
John Morrison wins!
After being identified as a murderer by the precogs, Anderton goes on the run. He has his eyes swapped out by the shady surgeon, but requests to keep his old eyeballs.
Later, he uses his eyeballs in a plastic bag to place in front of a retina scanner which gets him not only into precrime headquarters, but into the very room where the precogs are held in their pool.
So first, why did a cop have access to that room in the first place? There doesn't seem to be much reason for him to directly interact with the precogs that would have to do with his job arresting would-be murderers.
Second, he is now on the run as a known future murderer. Did no one really think to revoke his security clearance and access to restricted areas?
This even comes up again at the end of the film when Anderton's wife uses his eyes to get inside the prison in order to break him out. Why in the world would a man who is in prison still have the same level of security clearance, based on his retina scan, as he had when he was a police officer in good standing?
