A list of puns related to "John Ceiriog Hughes"
Between 1983 and 1992, John Hughes wrote (and directed) a string of iconic classics that were both (1) mega hits at the time, and (2) remain culturally relevant and significant today. Does any writer even come close to writing this number of iconic classics in ten years?
His verifiable iconic classics from this period include:
(1) Home Alone (1990)
(2) National Lampoons X-Mas Vacation (1989)
(3) Uncle Buck (1989)
(4) Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987)
(5) Ferris Buellerβs Day Off (1986)
(6) The Breakfast Club (1985)
And in this same period he also wrote the following much beloved and remembered movies:
(7) Home Alone 2 (1992)
(8) Beethoven (1992)
(9) Dutch (1991) [bullshit addition - just my fave]
(10) The Great Outdoors (1988) [less so than others]
(11) Pretty in Pink (1986)
(12) Weird Science (1985) [less so than others]
(13) Sixteen Candles (1984)
(14) National Lampoonβs Vacation (1983)
(15) Mr. Mom (1983) [less so than others]
I just finished watching Planes Trains and Automobiles for the first time in almost 10 years. Still an amazing movie with great moments I never forgot.
I was surprised to see at the end that it also is a John Hughes movie, (never paid attention to directors/writers in the past).
I kept asking myself "Why don't they make comedies like this anymore!?". Yet I wasn't sure what I even meant by that.
The best way I could put it was that he could make a wholesome rated R movie.
Maybe he is just a product of his time and that's why the movies are so popular, maybe it's just the nostalgia rip, but there's definitely some magic in a bottle that John Hughes tapped into and it resonates across most of his films.
Good looking, mysterious guy full of self-doubt is hanging with the cool kids. He quickly realizes they are not the crowd for him, and after they embarrass him and take advantage of his insecurities, he is left with nobody to hang with but the misfit crew. But, it turns out, the misfit crew is where he belongs, and through his friendship with them he is able to gain his confidence, and ultimately conquer and embarrass the cool kids. In this scenario we can substitute the AEW title for the token female love interest, and the comparison makes even more sense.
>Spencer Dinwiddie on being the next Wizards starting PG: "I'm not Gilbert, John or Russ... I think I'll possibly be the first point guard in D.C. to lobby Senators about Bitcoin."
>Spencer Dinwiddie on his timeline to return from the ACL injury: "I don't see any reason why I won't be in the starting lineup for the first game in October."
Smh forgetting the franchise GOAT, Ish Smith.
