2022 Pre-Season Update - Richmond Tigers
The Richmond Tigers reserves program yet again did not get the chance to back up its 2019 premiership glory and will hope that 2022 will be the year to finally go 'back-to-back'. The Tigers did not seem competitive enough to attempt the famous two in a row victory as they finished the season 11th with four wins, a draw, and five losses. Richmond has confirmed their 2022 squad as of pre-Christmas training. They have also confirmed their coach, and it’s a familiar face that will take over Xavier Clarke’s head coaching role of their VFL squad.
Competition Updates
The Victorian Football League will return for the 2022 season on March the 26th and will continue to align closely with the Australian Football League Men's season for a 22 round season with each team taking 4 byes each. The Aspley Hornets are the only team to confirm their exit from the eastern coast competition with the remaining 21 clubs beginning to strengthen their sides for another run.
The salary cap has been increased by $20,000 for standalone teams to $220,000 while AFL and AFL-aligned clubs have received just a $10,000 boost to $110,000. The caps also introduce the ability to pay $10,000 of a playing coach's salary outside the cap while indigenous coaches implement a $5,000 concession.
The list size rules also remain pretty much identical to the 2021 rules with AFL affiliate clubs having a maximum of 30 players (15 development players, 15 primary listed players) while stand-alone clubs can have a total of 40 players on their lists (28 primary listed players, 12 development players).
Coaching Updates
Steve Morris was the 2019 VFL premiership captain, continued his captaincy into 2021 and will now take over from Xavier Clarke and become the Victorian Football League’s first playing coach since David Teague played for the Northern Bullants in 2008. Morris, 32, will continue his playing career at the state league level while developing further as a coach after stepping up from a playing assistant coach role to a playing head coach role for the 2022 season.
Steve Morris was able to continue to have an impact for the Tigers over his six games in 2021 where he averaged 15.3 disposals and three tackles. He will be fantastic as a natural progression for the club that he has been part of since joining their AFL list at the end of the 2011 season. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
