A list of puns related to "Joel Embiid"
>Full quote:
>We all got to protect each other. Whether it's wearing masks, making sure whatever you do outside of basketball, that you think about your teammates, their family or your own family. It does suck. But from the beginning, you know, even when it hit us I was mad because I thought last year there was great precautions in place and this year it was just all over the place and I just thought it was unprofessional and that's where we are now.

Embiid has been absolutely sensational lately running the break, evading double teams with smart passes, overpowering his man at will, knocking down mid range shots like heβs KD, and playing defense like itβs 2017 when he finished 2nd in DPOY voting. He currently lead the league in points per 100 possessions and over the last 10 games is averaging a mind boggling 48.9 pts per 100 possessions. Is he on his way to a MVP award?
Everything around the sixers is Ben Simmons or Tobias harris talk. Iβd like to take a minute to appreciate how otherworldly Embiid has been lately

Credit to u/FultzShoulder for pointing out how similar their percentages are as well
Obviously Embiid's volume is MUCH less, but it's kind of funny anyway given that his career 3P% is almost a full 10% lower
Although Embiid definitely has improved this part of his game a ton, being at 38% last year and 39% this year
Another dominant night for Embiid!

Joel Embiid says iso heavy offense easy to defend
After a loss to the Charlotte Hornets, Embiid shared how playing the Celtics was an easier matchup Friday night, further highlighting one of Bostonβs biggest issues.
βCharlotte, they move the ball extremely well and they have shooters all over the place, and they made a bunch of jump shots,β Embiid said, via Sixers reporter Derek Brodner. βBoston is more of an iso heavy team, so it becomes easier to load up and try to stop them.β
Maxey was amazing with 5-8 3FG and 25 points in the 76ers win over the Nets tonight. This performance came after a Sixers win against Toronto in which Maxey scored just 5 points, shooting 2-11. After that game, Embiid jokingly called Maxey's performance trash and Maxey responded with an amazing game tonight in Brooklyn.

> βWe just respect each other so much,β says Kevin Durant on the jawing with Joel Embiid. Adds the natural competitive fire comes out. Did anything Joel say cross the line? βNah, hell no.β
Embiid and KD got into a bit of a scuffle at the end there and then Embiid returned the wave KD gave to the 76ers at the end of the game, but itβs clear they were both just competitive Rivas and it isnβt personal.
>Joel Embiid: βI'm still pissed off about what happened last year. [To win] means a lot to meβ¦ In our situation, we got about $400 million worth of contracts not playing. Any time you can get a win undermanned, missing 2 or 3 players, it's great confidence for our guys.β
> Georges Niang on being @JoelEmbiidβs teammate: > > βHeβs intense. You can just see it in his eyes. He wants to win so bad. > > He demands greatness out of all of us, and he also demands greatness out of himself.β
Embiid was great tonight and money from midrange. Shot 14/27 from the field and 12/14 from the line.

>Joel Embiid, on their improved defensive execution tonight: "Charlotte, they move the ball extremely well and they have shooters all over the place, and they made a bunch of jump shots. Boston is more of an iso heavy team, so it becomes easier to load up and try to stop them."
The Celtics had 20 turnovers in the game and 20 assists. This season so far Boston ranks 23rd in the NBA in team assist-to-turnover ratio and 4th in the NBA in team isolation frequency percentage (9.2%) and 9th in the NBA in isolation PPP.

Joel Embiid with another great performance. Heβs the franchise. Heβs my muse and my flame. Absolutely dominant. Heβs a serious MVP contender rn. The agenda is strong.
> "When I came to the states, my goal really was to use this opportunity so I can get some sort of scholarship and some sort of degree so I can go back home and make something out of it," Embiid explained. "I never knew. I mean, you start playing basketball at 16. To me, it was like I never really had a chance to make it."
>Although Embiid was initially oblivious to the success he could potentially garner, those who saw potential in him from the beginning kept him motivated so he could stay on track and achieve his goal of making it to the NBA.
>βI think the thing that helped me the most people believed in me from the beginning," Embiid said. "That made me work extremely hard to try and get better every single day not to make it to the league because at that point, I always thought I wasn't good enough even when I got to college. I was always thought there was no way I was making it. The fact that people believed in me and I got to college, that's what I wanted, honestly. I kinda used that opportunity to get a degree and go work somewhere else and make some money for my family. I would have never imagined."
>On tying Allen Iverson for the fewest games played to reach 7000 points in 76er history:
> "Obviously, I wish I was more healthy," he continued. "I probably would have had at least 15,000 points by now. It's great, but that's not the focus. The goal is to always get better every single day, so we have a chance at winning the championship."

> Joel Embiid on the state of his team: βI feel pretty good. I donβt think weβve played our best basketball yet. We still got a long way to go. Weβre missing guys that could really help us. Thereβs really no urgency to change anything. We got everything we need.β
Previously, it was reported Embiid was fine with waiting for the Simmons trade (he also signed an extension in the offseason) and this seems to back up that report.

First of all, Gafford is absolutely his bitch. Just gets dominated every single game.
Second of all, Embiid has put together a nice season thus far despite his early struggles. He is absolutely carrying this team, and really our lone bright spot other than Curry this season.

> Joel Embiid on his back and forth with Montrezl Harrell: "I wouldnβt say I baited him into that (second tech) but I like to think that I'm a troll. I like to think I kind of made him get out of his comfort zone, and that got him kicked out...
> More Embiid: "...Basketball is also mental. You got to be able to get in your oppositionβs heads, and that's what I did."
Joel βTroellβ Embiid likes to think of himself as a troll, in the most least surprising news of all time.
Over the last 8 games, Embiid had averaged 31.4 ppg with at least 30 points in each game. Tonight, he finished with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assists against the Celtics
Embiid's free throw numbers generate a lot of controversy, with some arguing that they're entirely a reflection of his skill at bamboozling defenders, while others feel it's the product of a superstar getting enormous benefit of the doubt from the officials. Despite the NBA instituting new rules that don't reward players for creating contact with defenders, Embiid's free throw rate is statistically identical to last season. As crafty as Embiid is, yesterday's game is an example of how it's VERY hard to argue that the way he's officiated is consistent with the rest of the league.
To start, here is an official video from the NBA Officials twitter showing the new rules. They clarify in clip 2 that pump-faking a defender and leaning your shoulder into them IS NOT a defensive foul in the 2021-2022 season.
With that said, here are clips of the very iffy calls in Embiid's favor yesterday, leading to 10 of his 21 free throws (plus a couple bonus FTs on floor fouls for teammates):
Embiid pump fakes McDaniels into the air and leans his shoulder into him. 2 FTs
Naz Reid goes vertical away from Embiid, Embiid contorts himself into Reid. 2 FTs
Reid gets his hand on the ball, Embiid flares his arms out as Reid and Prince strip the ball. 2 FTs
Embiid wrap his arm around Reid's torso and bends over. Non-shooting foul
[Towns pulls his arm away as Embiid goes for a rip through, maybe makes marginal contact. Non-shooting foul](https://videos.nba.com/nba/pbp/media/2021/11/27/0022100292/23
... keep reading on reddit β‘Here on Part 546 of Things The Media Refuses To Talk About Because They Love The Lakers So Much, Iβm gonna spout off about how great Joel Embiid has been playing over approximately this past month because ever since December 3rd of last year, Embiidβs been finally playing like the MVP candidate we saw last year after a slower start to this season.
Embiidβs last 15 games look like this:
30.7 PPG
10.6 RPG
4.4 APG
1.3 SPG
1.2 BPG
63% TS
+17 NRTG
11-4 record, currently on a 6 game win streak
Pretty outstanding numbers, right? Well, thatβs pretty much how Embiid needs to play in order for Philly to keep winning games because they have been downright awful when Embiid doesnβt play. In the 27 games Embiid has played this year, Philly has a 19-8 record and is winning games by an average of 5.4 points per. However, in the 11 games that Embiid has missed, Philly has a 3-8 record and they are losing games by an average of 8.4 points per.
Simmons not playing this year has noticeably hurt Philly. Their ORTG so far is 1.6 points worse than last season and their DRTG is 2.1 points worse than last season, but Embiid over this past month, and really over the whole season, has been trying his damndest to keep Philly afloat in the East.
What chances do you give Embiid at winning MVP if Philly manages to getβ¦ lets say, 50 wins this season? Unlikely, yes, but the way heβs playing right now and if he stays pretty healthy, not impossible if he keeps it up.

He has 30/10/3 at the time of this post.
Embiid is dominant. Literally does the bulk of the playmaking, defending, and scoring for the Sixers. Heβs really turning it on and is getting it going.
He has to carry us so hard. This was such an unsatisfying win.
Two years after their fight in Philadelphia the Embiid/Towns beef has continued to mellow out. Last year Embiid tweeted out support for Towns after his mother passed away.
Embiid had a good game but also had 7 TOs. Sixers 7 game win streak ends tonight after losing to the Hornets.

Joel Embiid has entered the MVP conversation. This last stretch of games from him has been pure dominance. For sure carrying this team, and was the best player in the 4th. Heβs great.
> Matisse Thybulle was watching the @sixers play in Orlando on TV when he saw Andre Drummond and Joel Embiid take the court together for the first time: > > βI thought something was wrong with the subs.β > > ---- > > Matisse Thybulle (who is now available for the > @sixers > tonight) on watching Furkan Korkmaz get out of his slump: > > βTurkish Airlines is back in action.β
Another phenomenal performance from the Big Fella. Didn't get on the glass much tonight, but as a whole the Sixers rebounded awfully for much of the game. Embiid pulled through when it mattered, bringing the Sixers to their 5th straight win. His stretch from around December the 10th until now has been nothing short of unbelievable. So glad I get to watch him every night.
Among 4s and 5s he ranks 7th in the league, behind Green, Antetokounmpo, Durant, Randle and Sabonis. It's crazy to see how much embiid had improved as a playmaker and he seems to be actively getting better as the season goes on.
