Probably a very stupid question but.. Can I use any fire starter (weber, etc) in my kamado joe? Also are the long hand bic lighters ok to use? I don't want to wait to order a torch and everywhere around me is out of starters other than the weber. I know certain chemicals can't to in the grill!

FREE Simpsons 14" Weber Smokey Joe BBBQ (San Diego area)

Edit: Apologies for not editing sooner, but the grille is most definitely gone, sorry to disappoint!

Greetings, friend! would you like to grill out like me? Then let's meet up so you can take this grill off my hands! These were available for the Simpsons' 10th anniversary (1999 i suppose?). I inhereted this from my aunt when she moved a few years ago, and now it's time for me to do some decluttering of my own.

I don't think this was actually used but I can't really tell; there is a bit of rust, and one of the legs is a bit denty, but it's still good, its still good!

Anyway, I'd much rather this go to a fellow Simpsons collector instead of a rando flipper that finds it at good will. My only rule is that you cannot eBay this, you must give it a good home! Bonus points if you use it to cook up a hot beef injection, or perhaps throw on a whopper for the copper!

Throw me a DM and we'll figure it out!

Weber Smokey Joe for Β£35 worth picking up?

So there’s an offer from B&Q which will go live tomorrow. I believe the normal price is Β£79.99 where I’ve checked so it seems like a good deal. We grill a few times a week and this seems like a good grill to pick up since our Weber 57cm is really too large to grill with except for when people are around. At Β£35 seems like a steal but just wanted to get a second opinion

Weber Smokey joe vs original kettle

Hi, I’m wanting to get a charcoal grill so I start grilling on my own. I’ve heard lots of great things about Weber’s original kettle grills but I saw that they had portable Smokey joe grills for far cheaper. Is there any real difference between them besides size?

Confused by Season 6 ep 9 (at the very end) Richard Weber and Meredith at Joe's bar

So, at the end of episode 9 Meredith sees Richard at Joe's bar drinking something.. Usually he drinks club soda, but he's fallen off the wagon (though no one knows it yet except Joe). Richard is obviously uncomfortable with Meredith seeing him drinking but I don't understand why? Wouldn't she assume that he's still drinking his "club soda"? Was it the lack of bubbles and everyone automatically knows that he's drinking alcohol immediately? In the beginning of the next episode he tries to explain his behavior but doesn't do a very good job. The whole situation has always left me feeling a little confused every time I watch it. Am I missing something?

Battle of Fuel Efficiency! Kamado Joe vs Weber Summit Charcoal (Possible Fraudulent YouTube Experiment???)

Here is the video I had major questions with....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdFsW7Q5VCs&t=951s

This youtuber Smoking Dad BBQ posted a video a month back. He does mostly kamado joe videos.... He claims that he did 55 hours 250 degree with one basket of lump charcoal on his kamado big joe. I posted a lengthy comment questions the authenticity of his experiment and he deleted my comment right away (maybe he is sponsored by kamado joe so he deleted my comment cuz he doesnt want negative publicity towards that brand???).

Anyway lets keep that aside and look at this subjectively.

In this forum we all know that weber summit charcoal's dual wall insulation is extremely good. Which is what I currently own. 3/4 bag of 16 lb kingsford blue fills up the pit and will last close to 40 hours. (My 18 hour brisket cook consumes about half of charcoal). Also babybackmanic posted a video of his experiment, it lasted him 50 hours total on 1 basket of kingsford, which is in line to my experience.

One thing a lot of people have misunderstanding of is that, ceramic/weight/thickness, DOES NOT equal insulation. Metal/solid transfer heats much better than air. these 400 pound ceramic cookers will never beat a light weight double walled construction weber summit charcoal when it comes to fuel efficiency.

If you guys are familiar with pellet universe, Yoder pellet grill is probably top of the line in the pellet world. Yoders are extremely heavy, heavy metal, thick walls. but NOT double walled. Yoder holds its heat extremely well due to its sheer mass, but it consumes A LOT OF pellets. Its a common complain of yoder owners. On the other side, cheapo grilla grills double walled pellet grills are extremely efficient on pellets, because the insulation is better.

It is the exact same argument here. Kamado joe/BGE/Primo, all these cookers have thick/heavy single walled constructions, these cookers can hold the heat extremely well! BUT, they are not very insulated comparing to weber summit charcoal.

Before my weber summit charcoal, I had the kamado joe classic. The one big obvious sign is that I can comfortably put my hands on the outside of the cooker at 250 degree on my new summit . There is no way I could do that with my previous kamado joe. When I had the kamado joe, using kingsford blue, Even with me fill it to the brim of the basket, the l
