I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

With the last two cover albums ranked, itβs all-original Bob from here on out. And although I enjoy every record Iβve ranked since Shadows in the Night to one degree or another, weβre getting to the true cream of the crop for me now. Iβd say everything from #14 on are my real favorites, but the next three records Iβll be discussing are right up there as well.
The only slight asterisk for Slow Train Coming in my book is, as Iβve discussed in multiple other posts, how I feel about Bobβs singing and general production stylings from this time period. That said, with the exception of a few egregiously nasal shouts, I enjoy Bobβs voice here more than on any other record between Street-Legal and Down in the Groove, save for potentially Infidels. The utilization of horns and background vocals works better than on any other release in that timespan as well. For my money, the production of this album is clearly a step up from its predecessor, Street-Legal, even if the songwriting is comparably strong.
Other than my least favorite track (see below), I honestly donβt have many negative things to say about Slow Train. Itβs a remarkably consistent record, easily more so than Saved or Shot of Love, and at that, itβs consistently good. Lyrically and melodically, heβs at the top of his game. Weβre also blessed (pun intended) with a decently varied group of songs: there are subtly intense barnburners (βGotta Serve Somebodyβ, βWhen You Gonna Wake Upβ), less-subtle, in-your-face blues rockers (βSlow Trainβ, βGonna Change My Way of Thinkingβ), solid pop songs (βPrecious Angelβ, βI Believe in Youβ), and a stunning ballad in βWhen He Returnsβ to close it all out. Not only is this an extremely impressive set of songs in their own right, they also form a convincing and cohesive whole.

This is a follow up to the timeline of US immigration that I posted a while back.
The full version of this article is here.
TL;DR: In the late 1800s to Early 1900s, every non-WASP out-group worked to exclude Asians as competition. After the Great Depression, these groups banded together, along with progressive WASPs, to remake America in the 20th century as the New Deal Coalition. The 1965 Hart-Celler Act accidentally allowed large-scale Asian immigration for the first time, and now these same groups of people who ethnically cleansed Asians during the Asian Exclusion Era want Asians to vote for them.
In 1840 β forty-seven years after the US gained independence from Britain β the US population was 17.06M. 83.2% of this population was white (14.19M), 16.8% was black (2.87M). Only ~2% was Catholic in 1820 (hard to find reliable historical data on Catholic population) and ~.08% Jewish in 1840. However, ramping up in the 1840s, people belonging to these βoutsiderβ groups began to immigrate in large numbers, with the biggest share of immigrants coming from Ireland and Germany. At the same time, the discovery of gold in California in 1848 drew prospectors from around the world. The Chinese population in the US went from less than 400 in 1848 to 25K by 1852. The Catholic population surged to 6.9% by 1850, which made Catholicism the largest single Christian denomination if Protestant denominations are counted separately. The 1880 census recorded 50.15M with an Asian population of .2% (100.3k) and a Jewish population of .51% (256K). There was a financial crisis in Europe and North America (Panic of 1873) from 1873 to 1877 known as the βLong Depressionβ in Britain and the βGreat Depressionβ in the US (until the larger depression in 1929 overshadowed it).
1) Chinese Exclusion
The first anti-Chinese laws were introduced in this period, including the Page Act of 1875, the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, and the Geary Act of 1892. These laws effectively froze the Chinese-American population in place at their 1882 levels. According to census, Californiaβs Asian population fell from 75,218 in 1880 to 73,619 in 1890 and Nevada from 5,419 to 2,836. Washington and Oregon experienced small rises in their Asian population. Asians in New Yor

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.

Released: June 23, 1980
Produced by: Barry Beckett and Jerry Wexler
I know a decent amount of people who place Saved among their bottom 5 Dylan records. Conversely, I have two friends who rank it in their top 10, and understand that quite a few fans have positively reevaluated the Christian trilogy in recent years.
Itβs obviously not in my bottom 5, largely due to the superb βPressing Onβ and βCovenant Womanβ, the latter of which features truly excellent keyboard work. Iβve also always had a soft spot for the opening cover of βA Satisfied Mindβ. Unfortunately, even though I wouldnβt say I hate any of the remaining songs, none of them rank too high for me against the rest of his catalog. This isnβt to say that theyβre bad compositions; βSaving Graceβ in particular is a very affecting set of lyrics. I just donβt find myself itching to come back to them on a regular basis.
Part of this is also due to the overall sound of the record. The band is top-notch, and they particularly shine on βWhat Can I Do for You?β and βAre You Readyβ, but thereβs a jarring juxtaposition between the sleek late-70βs/early-80βs sound theyβre going for and the somewhat muddled production. And although Bob has some moments of wonderful singing, this is still within the timeframe of my least favorite Dylan voice. All of these aspects considered, regardless of how strong the songwriting may be in spots, Saved is not my preferred listening experience. Itβs not a bad album, however, and I can understand the appeal for many.
Least favorite track: βSavedβ. Iβve never minded how preachy certain songs are across the Christian trilogy, but Iβve always found this particular track a bit too ham-fisted for my liking.
Favorite track: βPressing Onβ. Everything comes together on this one. The background singers are utilized perfectly, Bob sounds as genuine as ever, and the bandβs performance wonderfully mirrors the passion of the lyrics.
Again, this is all just my take! #31 coming up nextβ¦
