Say what you want about Michael Moorcock (and people have, he's fairly controversial, not in the least for his habit of going back and revising old stories decades after publication - changing names, plots, everything - see his Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Moorcock)

Anyhow.

Say anything about Moorcock, but he's an extreme binge writer. As in "whoops, I've got a deadline next week, let's start this novel right about... tomorrow".

OK, not every time, but he liked to write in white heat, and created a method for writing a novel in the space of a weekend.

It goes something like this:

1. Know your world.
   1. Create lists of character names.
   2. Create lists of imagery that's thematically coherent (i.e. swords, shields, knives, blood all go together).
   3. Create lists of cool-sounding place names (i.e. Plain of Screaming Faces).
2. Prepare a structure.
   1. Set up a time bomb. This will drive your story.
   2. Set up a goal - what is the hero going to achieve + stakes.
   3. Set up an event every four pages (yes, four (4) pages).
   4. Know what narrative problems you need to solve at every event.
3. Remove all distractions - no phone, no TV, no Internet, no people.
4. Write like mad.

A few months ago, a dive into Grant Hill's Wikipedia page got me wondering. How many active teammates did he have? Curiosity piqued, I went from there and scanned over all NBA Hall of Famers and compiled their active teammates. And then did it with baseball. The NFL, with their much larger rosters, was a bit frightening, but here it is at last! First, a few ground rules.

A. Each player must have either played this year, or be on the injured reserve. No free agents, so players like Larry Fitzgerald were disqualified from this exercise.

B. Practice Squad DOES count. Tahir Whitehead played with Calvin and he's on a practice squad this year, I counted him. On the flip side, TO only played on the Seahawks practice squad in 2012, but I still counted the Hawks teammates.

C. Finally- I'm anything but perfect! I skimmed over all these rosters over a few hours, and I'm sure I missed a few here or there. Only caught Broncos Brett Kern, Steelers Brian Hoyer and Falcons Dustin Colquitt at the last moment. If you see where I erred, don't be afraid to correct me- I also used the rosters on Wikipedia, because Football Reference is murderously slow, so that might not capture the full season.
