A long-awaited Lincoln Rhyme novel is finally here.. The Midnight Lock introduces another genius antagonist in the series β The Locksmith. Like Rhymeβs perpetual nemesis The Watchmaker, this one is also interested in the mechanics of tools and locks. Hello everyone.
My GF has always been an avid thriller/crime stories reader. Through our years together I developed some kind of "tradition": I gift every family member books on Christmas; as said gifted books piled up in time, it grew more difficult for me to grab some fresh/new books for her, especially since those genres are not my experties.
I'm really fond of publications by this italian editor - Adelphi. My contribute to our shared bookshelf mostly comprises books from this editor and when I discovered its whole huge series of Simenon's works about Maigret I thought that would be a good choice. Sole issue lays in that I red just one book of this author, - "The man who watched trains go by" - when I was a pre-teenager, and could not remember much of it apart from it not being a proper crime/investigation focused novel but more a self-centered protagonist's inner thoughts drived plot.
I know Maigret is considered a great series for crimes, but since my GF mostly enjoys the investigation side of the genre, I'm wondering if this could be a good choice.
The books series the editor is publishing contains a good amount of entries - about 15 books or so, everyone collecting 4 or 5 novels. Here's the first one as an example. Sorry, I know it's in italian.
I would like her to discovery a new series to follow, and not thinking I chose that one for the sole reason of me being a fanboy of the editor, a circumstance I would not even try to deny.
I'll gladly hear your opinions and suggestions.
Thank you!
PS: apologies for any mistake, English is not my main language.
This was so nice to read this morning.
Jeffery Deaver: 'I can always find solace in Middle-earth and Tolkien's imagination'
I have read the bone collector by Jeffery Deaver and it was really good. Please suggest a book which is as good as that or better than that book. Thank you
