Thereβs often a stereotype associated with the executives who run our favorite teams: whip-smart young men with penchants for advanced mathematical modeling and Ivy League degrees to their names. But how does this archetypal image of MLBβs GM and PoBO sphere hold up in reality?
Scouring Wikipedia articles, LinkedIn pages, media guides, and the depths of local newspaper profiles, Iβve assembled a list of the top ~120 baseball executivesβpulling 3-5 from each teamβand their educational and occupational backgrounds. The job roles I pulled included presidents of baseball operations, general managers, vice presidents, assistant general managers, directors of operations, directors of analytics, and chief research and development folks.
I tracked their undergraduate majors, undergraduate schools, graduate degrees, graduate institutions, as well as executivesβ first experience working in baseball and any prior non-athletic career experience.
First, letβs look at undergraduate majors. From most frequent to least frequent, executives studied: economics (16), communications (8), history (8), business administration (7), finance (5), mathematics (5), english (4), political science (4), sports management (4), psychology (4), accounting (2), American studies (1), biomedical engineering (1), cognitive science (1), computer science (1), east Asian studies (1), eastern languages and civilization (1), education (1), engineering physics (1), food and nutrition (1), art history (1), industrial engineering (1), industrial labor relations (1), information technology (1), journalism (1), kinesiology (1), latin classics (1), mechanical engineering (1), molecular biophysics (1), physical education (1), public policy (1), sociology (1), sports marketing (1), statistics (1).
I wasnβt able to find majors for some of the older executives, but this seems like a broad enough sampling.
Now, for undergraduate colleges and universities. From most frequent to least frequent, executives attended: Harvard (7), Yale (7), Princeton (5), Dartmouth (3), Haverford (3), Northwestern (3), Notre Dame (3), UC Berkeley (3), Cornell (2), George Mason (2), Georgetown (2), MIT (2), Tufts (2), Tulane (2), UC Davis (2), UC San Diego (2), UChicago (2), UPenn (2), University of Illinois
... keep reading on reddit β‘I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
What did 0 say to 8 ?
" Nice Belt "
So What did 3 say to 8 ?
" Hey, you two stop making out "
I won't be doing that today!

This morning, my 4 year old daughter.
Daughter: I'm hungry
Me: nerves building, smile widening
Me: Hi hungry, I'm dad.
She had no idea what was going on but I finally did it.
Thank you all for listening.
