A list of puns related to "Jean Marc Vallée"
Avec La Casa Del Papel, Babylon Berlin, Au Service de la France, et bien d'autres exemples, c'est notre tour d'avoir une grosse série digne du Québec! Des idées?
I just learned that the director doesn’t storyboard, doesn’t use light/block light, and follows the movement of his actors and the creativity/curiosity of the moment. Incredible.
Since both seasons are only 7 episodes, I'm so glad to see they kept the singular director strategy for the season. This way each season feels like a more focused vision than if a new director was brought in for each episode. Also cool to see a woman helming the new season and so far, she is carrying out her vision well, with a nice mix of Vallées vision and her own. I hope if there is a 3rd season they bring in another, new director to direct all 7 episodes again.
He’s directed some amazing movies like Wild and Dallas Buyers Club but I think where he really shines is in limited series television. I watched Big Little Lies last year and it is so far my favorite television show that I have ever seen and now I’m watching Sharp Objects, which still has that eerie undertone that Big Little Lies had but it’s taken up a notch. Both have fantastic use of sound, direction, and editing. I wanted to see if he uses the same people for editing in any of his work and was surprised to find out that he edits a lot of his own work. I’d love to look into the mind of this guy or just sit down with him and pick his brain about filmmaking. I wonder if anyone else feels the same way but I think Jean Marc Vallée is incredibly talented.
I posted something similar in r/television but no one really wanted to discuss anything. I’m just really interested in Jean Marc Vallée and would love to discuss his filmmaking style with others interested.
I watched his movie Dallas Buyers Club which i thought was filmed beautifully. then I watched Big Little Lies last year and Sharp Objects this year. They all have this eerie undertone but cut together with great sound design, music, story and editing. I love how almost all of the films and tv shows he directs (and -as I was surprised to find- sometimes edits) seem to be filled with rich, complex characters and story lines told in an enjoyable almost mysterious way using everything but dialogue. I would love to sit down with this man and pick his brain on filmmaking I really thinks his work is just brilliant.
I would love to discuss Jean Marc Vallée with anyone interested or find other filmmakers who have similar storytelling styles.
