A list of puns related to "Jasper Tudor"
Jasper Tudor was born November 1431 to a French royal mother (whose own mother was of Bavarian and Italian background) and a Welsh father.
So where the heck did he get the name Jasper?
Catherine de Valois and Owen Tudor are reputed to have had about six children. We are most certain about the two who were recognized and ennobled by their brother, King Henry VI, Edmund and Jasper.
Edmund's name could have come from the royal family's close association with Edmund Beaufort, Henry VI's paternal (half) cousin. Wiki mentions four children's names: Edmund, Jasper, Edward and Margaret. Other sources record a monk named Owen.
Edward was an important English saint, Margaret was Owen Tudor's grandmother's name (and that Marged's sister was the mother of Owain GlyndΕ΅r).
But Jasper seems a complete outlier.
Recently I came across a suggestion that it was an Anglicization of Casper, a respectable biblical name. (My impression that use of Casper/Kasper would lean slightly Germanic due to the Shine of the Three Kings, of which Gasper was traditionally one.) But even if that is the case, why would a French Queen of England name her son by a Welsh knight Casper or Jasper?
Prior to 1422, the remarriage of a widowed queen of England was rare (I can think of three post-Conquest examples: Henry I's widow Adeliza of Louvain remarried and had 7 children, John's widow Isabella of AngoulΓͺme remarried and had 9 children, Isabella de Valois remarried and had one child). However, Catherine de Valois remarriage [note] was clandestine and thus her subsequent children were not named with an eye to parental alliances. Presumably their names reflected their parents' wishes.
Which really just keeps me circling back to my basic question: Where the heck did Jasper's name come from?
NOTE: The remarriage may have not been legal, but I don't think that would have any bearing on Jasper's naming.
Welcome to the next in my little series of strategy guides for DOR that I've decided to make as I play my umpteenth playthrough of the game to spice things up. Today we have Jasper Dice Tudor, Yugi's... uncle, this time around. He better not be Mai's brother... Ok, he's not. Thank god. That's been bothering me for a while now.
Jasper Dice Tudor - Difficulty: 5/10 - Terrain: Another castle. This one is pretty well defended, forcing you to go all the way around to the back
Notable Monsters: The Exodia pieces, Illusionist Faceless Mage, Phantom Dewan, Nemuriko, Curtain of the Dark Ones... Yeah, nothing too strong. Just a lot of spellbinding effects.
Notable Spells: Time Seal, Just Desserts, Tremendous Fire, Ookazi, Final Flame, Swords of Revealing Light, Solomon's Lawbook, Yellow Luster Shield, Book of Secret Arts, Black Pendant
Notable Traps: Anti-Raigeki, White Hole, Gravity Bind, Acid Trap Hole, Infinite Dismissal, Magic Jammer
Hidden Card: Dharma Cannon, C4
Strategy: Threefold. Keep you spellbound as long as possible, do lots of direct damage with spell cards, and attempt to summon Exodia
Jasper has no strong monsters whatsoever. The closest he might come is Illusionist Faceless Mage, which might get a ridiculously high Def rating and block your path. What he's really trying to do is summon Exodia inside that castle of his. In order to do that, he has to actually summon the arms and legs directly around his DL and flip them face-up. If he can accomplish that, you automatically lose. However, he only has one of each piece. If you can destroy or spellbind just one, you immediately ruin that particular strategy. Really, it's not a big deal, especially since the Exodia pieces will be competing for his monster limit with his stall monsters.
Honestly, the bigger issue is his effect burn strategy. He's got three Just Deserts, a Tremendous Fire, an Ookazi, and a Final Flame. That's more than enough to kill you with effect burn damage alone. So therefore, whether it be Exodia or death by effect burn, this duel is a race against time.
If you do it the way Jasper wants you to, then this duel is going to be incredibly difficult. He's got all kinds of monster effects, spells, and traps that are aimed at no greater purpose than to stall you for as long as possible, and your monsters have a long way to go to reach the castle as it is. They're going to have to wade through a whole lot of Spellbound status to reach it, but if you can do it in time, you win. Prett

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
Here are 100 reasons why you should get vaccinated. Iβve heard so many fucking times that βIβve done my researchβ and βshow me the proofβ and all these idiots think they know how to read research.
Ok, so go look up these citations and read them. If you can sift through the Latin and immunology, microbiology, organic chemistry, genetics, and other biological studies - then youβll quickly find all the proof you need and then some.
Anytime any vaccinated person is questioned you should read even one of these studies.

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
