Manufacturing company with no Quality Department... Sound shady?

I'm hearing some shady stuff but I'm looking for outside opinions.

If the owner of a manufacturing company said that they didn't have a Quality Department, what would your thoughts be?

This is a company that produces fairly simple assemblies from parts produced internally and from outside vendors and sells in quantities up to around tens of thousands of parts a year.

EDIT: I would like to keep this as vague as possible, but for a little more insight, the same person who said they didn't have a QC department, also stated that their vendors never screwed up.

And while I know some companies have quality checks throughout their manufacturing and assembly process, I highly doubt that here.

A conversation about Family-Owned manufacturing companies

Just looking to bounce ideas off some folks about passing family businesses down to children. I'm 26 y/o and have worked for my family's company for a year in a solid position, but have also floated around in previous years for summer work. I'm considering whether or not I want to someday continue with the business.

Is there anyone who is also in a similar stage in their life/career? What has that conversation (with yourself) looked like?

When Farms turn into Manufacturing Companies

okay, this is a bit of a pet peeve of mine, idk if y'all can relate, but it really bugs me when people set up their very advanced farm and it ends up looking like a manufacturing plant. Like when all the barns/sheds are in lines and the animals are just everywhere willy-nilly and don't have any grass or anything. Idk if its me being a farm kid or what, but it drives me bonkers! No hate to anyone who does set up their farms that way though

Can I ask for pointers or best practices here? My wife and I own a small manufacturing company which produces and distributes children's training cups. We have a fairly decent presence but this year want to really put some effort and funding into growing that presence and sales, focusing on online

We realize that online sales and presence is the primary medium for our sales. We generate about 250k in sales annually and want to double that in the next two years. About 1/3 of that is via Amazon, 1/3 is to government agencies (WIC), and the remainder is wholesale to retailers, export to foreign markets, and other conventional means.

Increasing our online placement seems to be our primary goal. When people search for a product in our category, I want our product to be one of the top results. I want to also craft ads that would be directed to the appropriate buyers (someone has been searching for related products, has a child in a certain age range, etc).

Our secondary goal is to expand in foreign markets, but this is more difficult with language barriers.

What might be some "must dos" or starting points we should consider?

We've worked with marketing companies in the past, and frankly, they were better at marketing themselves than they were our product.

3 positions at a Global Manufacturing company: Cloud Architect (Azure), NOC Manager (build a new NOC), Security Analyst (data governance minor) - Company HQ in Atlanta, Remote available

I have three roles open for β€˜22. All individual contributors at a global manufacturing company, going though a digital project - becoming data driven.

  1. Cloud Architect to help move us to Azure and define operating model in the cloud. Begins as an IC but will evolve into a leadership role as the team is built out. Team will consist of existing people moved into the team and new roles to be added in 2023 & 2024.

  2. We do not have a formal NOC and are looking for a (IC) to help define what the NOC looks like and lead the practice. Likely to be a mix of outsource (partner) and insource. This, too, will grow into leadership.

  3. Security Analyst - we have a small internal security team that is responsible for Security and (Data) Governance and am adding a role. It will be 70% security analyst work and 30% data governance. This will remain an individual contributor.

I am not a recruiter, but the CIO. If you have any questions please let me know. I’ll be as transparent as possible.

What companies/industry create custom manufacturing technology?

Whenever something unique needs to be manufactured - say a special engine, or any kind of new device, you may often need custom machines to do it. What companies (and what's the industry called) which crates these machines?

For example in the buggati video at the link they have machine putting sealant on the engine at 11:25. Who creates the machine needed to put the sealant in place? This seems like it'd be a one off, customized type of machine, and I assume a lot of unique manufacturing requires very customized machines like this. What industry/companies make these customized machines that manufacturing requires?

Sorrento currently has the capacity to produce 30,000,000 COVISTIX tests a month and is currently building up its manufacturing capacity in the US. The company anticipates having a fully automated assembly line capable of producing 6,000,000 COVISTIX units per month up and running in Q1 2022.

Let's take a closer look at this press release yesterday.

Pending US and global demand .

Notice how they say US before global?

Sorrento is also in discussions with multiple US States for incentive packages to further expand its US manufacturing capacity pending strong US and global demand for COVISTIX tests; and

and?

Combining OEM and in-house manufacturing capacities, Sorrento is positioning to provide 30 million COVISTIX tests per month in the near term and expand to 50 to 100 million COVISTIX tests monthly to accommodate accelerating demand globally.

Discussions with multiple US States for incentive packages?

Does everyone remember when the pandemic first started? Every State was on their own to find PPE. Multiple States were out bidding everyone to buy gloves and masks.

COVISTIX maintains its ability to detect the Omicron Variant, in addition to detecting SARS-CoV-2 and all of its major variants of concern (VoCs);

Well now we know COVISTIX maintains it's ability to detect the Omicron.

How about all of the rest of the FDA approved PCR tests?

The $5B shelf was prepared for what going to come next.
