A list of puns related to "Isao Sasaki"
Hi everyone
Iβm relatively new to Reddit and Iβm really pleased there are subreddits for Anime music and Japanese music.
My favorite Japanese singers are Mizuki Ichirou (ζ°΄ζ¨δΈι ) and Sasaki Isao (γγγγγγ). They are best known for their anime and tokusatsu music, but they both sing non-anime songs (particularly when they first started in the 1960s). They are often regarded as the fathers of Anison. Both have given us thousands of classics (e.g. Mazinger Z, Captain Harlock, Uchuu Senkan Yamato, Ginga Tetsudou 999, etc.)
Iβve searched endlessly for videos online of their live performances from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, but have not found much unfortunately. Iβve tried Google Videos search, Youtube, Niconico, etc, but I havenβt found many live performances from the good old days. Hereβs some of the few examples Iβve found:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqfOAHZm7QY
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laaLpIddwYk
Thankfully, there are a few videos from the 1990s out there, but not many.
Part of the difficulty is that I still have a long way to go in reading and writing Japanese, so searching hasnβt always been easy. I would be really grateful for any help please. Old VHSs out there are probably the best source : )
Thank you and all the best

70's Robot Anime Geppy-X is a PS1 shoot-em-up from the 90's. It takes place in the year 197X, and it is basically a huge love letter to mecha anime of the time, mainly Getter Robo. The game's main gimmick is every level is formatted like an anime episode, complete with an opening, cutscenes, and even commercials for fake Geppy-X products between stages. It gets better: Like Getter Robo, Geppy-X has three different forms and depending on which form you defeat the boss of the level, you'll get a unique cutscene of the monster being finished off. The visual department isn't the only thing that gets to have fun. The game's music is made of vocal songs by some of the biggest names of anison like Hironobu Kageyama, Isao Sasaki, MIO, and more. They also got Akira Kamiya to voice the Ryoma Nagare expy and >!ShΕ«ichi Ikeda to voice the Char clone.!< I think this was originally supposed to be a Getter Robo game, but they lost the license during development, so they made a tribute to it.
You'd think a robot/show that is a parody of all the 70/80s mecha shows would be a very obvious addition to the series, and what mecha fan wouldn't go crazy when they see it being added to the game.
I mean bringing a fictional mecha otaku's favorite fictional mecha show to life in a gaming series about bringing different mecha shows to life in a single universe, and changing their stories to live up to what mecha fans dream of, what could be more fan-service or SRW than this. I would dare say this would be the ultimate move that a series like SRW can do. Sadly, the closest we ever got is just having the amazing theme song of Gekiganger 3 in games like SRW W and the team attack (Double Gekigan Flare) is a parody of the Gekiganger 3's final team attack in the show.
I mean can you just imagine how amazing it would be for the main characters of Gekiganger 3 to meet Gai Daigoji, the Gatter team ? or while everyone is thinking logically and tactically to win each mission, the Gekiganger 3 crew instead try to solve everything through 70s mecha show tropes and pure hot-bloodedness, the jokes and amazing interactions just write themselves.
If you're thinking "well that's not what happened in the show", that doesn't really matter when they already changed the story and events of the show into many "what if" scenarios whenever it's added to the series, it's kind of what the series does anyway. Plus there is an OVA for Gekiganger 3 where they even got Isao Sasaki to sing an original song for it.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
Because she wanted to see the task manager.
Theyβre on standbi
Pilot on me!!
Nothing, he was gladiator.
BamBOO!
Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
What did 0 say to 8 ?
" Nice Belt "
So What did 3 say to 8 ?
" Hey, you two stop making out "
I won't be doing that today!

I thought this up after realizing βmodern fans donβt know what Robotech or Star Blazers isβ. This will be going over the attempts to bring anime to US Television throughout the 20th Century. Some names you will most definitely realize right away, but others you may not even know what it is. This obviously wonβt cover everything, especially since as the decades go on, the number of dubbed anime increases massively, this will mostly just cover the big names and some a few smaller attempts.
Astro Boy is perhaps the most well known anime from the 60s, with a remake in the 80s, another in the 2000s and a CG Movie that was produced in 2009. In 1963, NBC had acquired the rights to Atom and had consulted Ladd on how best to market it. From there, he created a pilot episode, which led into a full run for the series. NBC massively toned down the series from its original Japanese version. Things such as violence were often cut, because of broadcast standards at the time, especially since this was aimed at children. At least one episode was cut, because it dealt with a dog having an operation, which NBC felt was βtoo terrifying for young childrenβ. Tezuka spoke about this in the Atom manga, saying that since Americans already hunted and killed animals, white people in Africa hunted animals for sport, the English spread rumors that the Japanese ate dogs, so why was this such a problem to NBC? Needles to say Tezuka definitely was not happy with the amount of censorship that happened in the American version.
One interesting note is that one episode of Atom was supposed to be destroyed after airing, due to the episodes poor quality and while the original had been destroyed, they had already sent a copy to the US for dubbing. βMidoro Marsh'' was produced not by the normal staff, but by Studio Zero, a studio founded by some of his former protges, most notably being Shotaro Ishinomori(Kamen Rider / Sentai / Cyborg 009) and Fujiko Fujio(Doraemon). Due to their lack of experience in anime production, the art quality varied wildly throughout. This episode was considered lost for a long time, due to the fact that Tezuka had it destroyed, surviving only in dubbed form for years, until the original Japanese audio was found and spliced with the 16mm print.

This morning, my 4 year old daughter.
Daughter: I'm hungry
Me: nerves building, smile widening
Me: Hi hungry, I'm dad.
She had no idea what was going on but I finally did it.
