Recently discovered The Delfonics and also only recently listened to Aretha Franklin's Spirit In the Dark (I was already familiar with the early stuff) and remembered there's so much more out there and I'm only scratching the surface.
#373 Isaac Hayes- Hot Buttered Soul
This album is a funk-soul masterpiece! Perhaps you could say a perfect album. From the opening chords of the 12 minute funk jam “Walk On By” to the closing chords of “By The Time I Get To Phoenix” you feel transcended to another level. Hayes’s voice is so deep and powerful and the mix of the band on this album is perfect. I listened to this album three times in a row. I can't get enough of it. It has definitely sky rocketed to one of my favorite albums I have listened to since I started this little experiment of listening to every album on the RS list. There are only 4 tracks on the album, 3 of the 4 going over the eight minute mark but you don’t feel the need to skip any of the tracks. If you haven’t had the chance to listen to this album please stop what you are doing and listen to it now. It is an album everyone should listen to in their lifetime.
