A list of puns related to "Iron Chelate"
I recently found out I have iron deficiency anemia, and I'm looking into different kinds of supplements. Each kind I look into seems to be a different type of iron, like ferrous gluconate, ferrous sulfate, ferrous bisglycinate chelate, etc. Is there a resource that breaks down the differences? Do each of the different types serve different purposes?
I'm having a hell of a time trying to find a good source for Chelated iron in Canada.
My setup is far too small to buy 50-100lbs of the stuff and every site I can find seems to want around 20 bucks for a lb of Fe-DTPA which is fair... but not into paying the 55 dollars for shipping. I asked around everywhere locally already, kinda at a loss...
Where does everyone north of the border get their Iron? Or am I stuck getting hosed on shipping?
The only thing I can find on amazon.ca is EDTA, which, from what I understand from Nate Storey, is not good.
Any ideas?
I want to avoid buying from the US if I can -- customs is pretty unpredictable and sometimes extremely expensive :(
Other places I've checked (I searched for "iron chelate" and "iron supplement")
I know that iron chelate is safe for fish but i'm not sure about these other ingredients, it's this: total nitrogen (N) 3% Solulable Potash (K20) 1% iron (fe) 10%
this is it: http://www.amazon.com/Grow-More-7450-8-Ounce-Concentrate/dp/B004G1AON2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418672896&sr=8-1&keywords=chelated+iron
I'm fairly certain that I have anemia, so I'm looking to buy some iron supplements. I found this study on iron bis-glycinate chelate and was wondering if that's the same as iron bisglycinate advertised in these iron supplements.
Thanks a lot for any help :)
I have a new system that I'm trying to get cycling (fishless) and my plants are yearning for iron/manganese. Powdered iron chelate seems to be impossible to find here but I have found a liquid form.
Here is the product I found. It is FeEDTA and my system is running at 7.6-7.8 right now, so I'm afraid it will take in 0 iron from this product. Will using it as a spray on the foliage of the plants be an option? Any recommendations for dilution (5ml/50gallon for aquarium use but no reference for spray)?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I am located in the greater toronto area if anyone has store suggestions for other products (Fe EDDHA).
Findings
Opinion
I think itβs likely weβll get some therapeutic value from Bucillamineβs iron-chelating ability.
Discussion
Regarding finding #3, the limitation I see in the analysis is that the authors are comparing the mortality rate of apples to oranges. The apples are the group of 14 patients with < 1000 ng/mL ferritin, which arenβt taking an iron chelator. The oranges are the group of 11 with > 1000 ng/mL ferritin, which are taking an iron chelator. The mortality rate of the apples is 25% and that of the oranges is 18%. The problem with comparing the two is that the oranges are already at a higher risk than the apples because of their high ferritin levels [9, 15]. In other words, the mortality rate of the oranges would likely be greater than that of the apples (25%), had they not taken an iron chelator. The better comparison would have been oranges to oranges where half of them were taking an iron chelator. The researchers had a limited sample size so itβs understandable. I reached out to them to get their opinion.
As always, please fill or poke holes in my logic.

... keep reading on reddit β‘Hello,
Long story short, I've been chelating with Calcium Based EDTA (intravenously) for a couple years now due to high levels of Mercury, Aluminum and Lead in my body. In the IV bag, they also add Vitamin B (6, 12, etc.) I took a break from getting the B added to my bag around the time that I the first of two blood results listed below:
Note* I've been reading that vitamin B can make iron levels go up and was wondering what people think about my numbers:
1.Blood drawn at the end of October below:
Iron 166 | Iron Binding Capacity 312 | %Saturation 53 | Ferritin 231 | Vitamin B12 >2000 (Noted to illustrate how much B I've gotten through IV)
2.Blood drawn at the end of December below:
Iron 184 | Iron Binding Capacity 305 | %Saturation 60 | Ferritin 183
In the few weeks prior to the second test, my chelation doctor began adding Vitamin B again to my bag. In addition, I started a diet where I ate brown rice daily. Furthermore, I take tons of supplements to aid with my chelation. None of them contain iron. Are there any specific supplements that I should avoid other then Iron and Vitamin B?
Are these numbers worrisome considering my situation? I am longer getting Vitamin B added into my chelation mix and will not have it again while Chelating. I'm also adjusting my diet by substituting white rice for brown rice and taking a calcium supplement with each meal.
I'm just seeking some advice on how to lower my Saturation %. Any would help. Thank you in advanced!
--Bonus 23&Me Question" - I just so happened to order a 23&Me test a month ago (unrelated to HH). I'll get the results back in a week or so, and have heard that it displays information regarding HH. How accurate are those results? Thanks Again!
7b, North Atlanta, Hybrid bermuda. We are hosting a cookout for my husbands coworkers and family at the end of June, and want our lawn looking primo.
I see conflicting advice about how quick it works and how often to apply. I've read it works at 2-3 days, or 2-3 weeks, that you can apply every 2 weeks, or every 6-8 weeks and everywhere inbetween. Do we apply this week (3.5 weeks before) and also a few days before?
Also I'm thinking mow on the Monday, iron and water on the Tuesday, mow again on Thursday and water deep on the Friday so it will be nice and dry for the event Saturday afternoon, or maybe mow Friday and hope that watering early Saturday will be dry enough in the heat 8 hours later.
Anything else we can do in the next few weeks, I believe our lawn service is due out in the next 2-3 weeks for fert also? We had it leveled/topdressed and fert in mid May, and the weed situation is pretty good. Some grassy weeds that we can't figure out but when the lawn is fresh cut it blends in (wider blade, lighter color, faster growing).
Got a small bottle in the mail to test out, only a pint. My yard is only 300sqft so I don't need much, but dang if I'm not excited. Come Saturday morning I'm going to be jumping out of bed like a kid on Christmas morning.
Do we have any concrete limit to how much Curcumin we can take before it begins to drain Iron from our body? Have there been any studies done indicating a dose that has no effect? Love taking it for inflammation but Iβd like to avoid anemia as I have read several people have developed Iron deficiency after 18 months or so usage. Do we know the safe limit? Examine just says food dosages are safe.
Hello, per a recommendation from another post, I got some chelated liquid iron to help with yellowing of my Giant Bird: https://i.imgur.com/tpOipJ8.jpg https://i.imgur.com/9LbAsSw.jpg
The instructions say to apply to the foliage and I was wondering if anyone had experience doing this. I'm a little concerned about staining from overspray, and not entirely sure if I actually am supposed to spray it on the leaves and stems. I guess I do this with a spray bottle?
If mixing a gallon and pouring it into the soil would work, I'd prefer that. I think I'm dealing with hydrophobic soil too as I was told on a separate post, but there are some holes in the corners of the pot that will accept water.
Really appreciate any help. I'm pretty green when it comes to being a greenthumb. Thanks in advance.
