A list of puns related to "Intra Observer Variability"
Most bottles can go through some changes from opening to finishing, but does anyone have a bottle that is as wild as Ricky Vaughn sans spectacles? Mine is Larceny Barrel Proof A120. Sometimes itโs rich brown sugar goodness and sometimes itโs way too tannic and unenjoyable. A lot depends on what youโve tasted earlier, but donโt have any other bottles with this much day to day change. Interested to hear if anyone else has this experience.
We have all seen the Inter-Individual variability in autism, which makes it a spectrum. But how much do our own individual abilities vary over weeks, days, hours?
One of the things I've always struggled with is how inconsistent my performance is in all areas of life. Something that I can do flawlessly one day is something I can barely do another. I've made it my quest in life to find the patterns, and I've partially succeeded with some (For example, I generally function better in the mornings and I'm very dependent on having good sleep). But in other ways the variability seems just incomprehensible and the patterns out of reach. This is frustrating because I can't fully rely on myself and I can't be relied on.
Something that frustrated me as well is that I couldn't even begin to find what this variability is about. How do I even search for it? Anecdotally I know at least 3 other people with ASD who have expressed the same frustration. Do you experience any of this?
Yesterday I decided to give it a proper search and I finally found a term: Intra-Individual variability (IIV). Just having this term opened up quite a lot of psychiatric research on the matter. I am not done with my review but I've found two interesting articles to begin with, which seem to confirm this may be a thing with autism. A physical, measurable characteristic that seems to rather consistently be associated with ASD and could end up being considered an endophenotype of ASD (As far as I could read so far, it's not yet such though).
The two articles I've looked into the most are below, but you can search on Google Scholar for "Autism IIV" for example.

I would like to write a proper review of this, but my coping techniques for ADHD tell me that if I wait it may never get done, so I wanted to make a quick post here for anyone else who may have been wondering, or who may want to share their experiences.
I'm F33 with diagnosed ASD and ADHD as of two years ago.
Hi, I'm looking for intrasubject variability (aka intra-individual subject variability) figures in the public domain for the calculation of sample size in a 2x2x4 BA/BE study. The drug in question is divalproex sodium, delayed-release pellets and extended release tablets.
I've found a good source for the ER tablets, page 33 of 40 in https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/nda/2002/020782_s000_ClinPharmR.pdf
Still looking for DR pellets. Nothing in the FDA website, or google. Does anybody have any tips in finding this data? If I can't find, may just use CV% in similar products.
I'm a final year undergraduate engineering student having a little trouble with statistics..
For my final year project, I am undertaking research into evaluating further uses for touch motion such as in a biometric context. I have captured a series of signatures recorded on tablet device and a touch screen monitor. The data is all set up in SPSS and so far I have done bivariate analysis to assess the correlations between features.
however, I want to test for subject variability between both capture scenarios. I.e. how well does a subject perform between both conditions - can I say that for the 40 subjects that participated that this set of data can be applied to 100, 1000 etc..
any pointers would be appreciated!
Hi all!
I am a Doctoral Researcher at Brunel University London. We are conducting a study to further explore how certain personality traits and sociosexual attitudes influence our behaviour. We are looking for participants of all genders aged 18 and older to partake in our research.
The survey should take no more than 30 minutes to complete, please use the attached link to fill out the anonymous survey.

The research has been approved by the College of Health, Medicine, and Life Sciences Research Ethics Committee. The approved dates for data collection are May 5th, 2021 - August 14th, 2021.
Hi all,
I'm working on a project where I am reporting on the intra-rater reliability of a viewer who has watched video analysis twice and has repeated coding on specific movements and the frequency and duration of when they occur (e.g. Over 4 innings, the athletes made 27 high intensity throws, 14 sprints that lasted a total of 23 seconds, etc...). I am reporting the standard error of measurement (SEM) and Coefficient of variation (CV%). However, certain movements occurred very infrequently during the 4 innings analyzed (like 0.25 +- 0.5 jumping events), which caused the SEM and CV% to be above the acceptable limits of 10% due to the small sample size.
I need to run a post hoc analysis on these variables to determine how many instances I would have needed to view before they would have had acceptable SEM and CV%. It's expected that the amount of time it would have taken me to watch for the appropriate number of jumps or slides to get an acceptable SEM and CV% would have been unreasonable (10+ hours) within the scope of this project, but I just need to be able to report that I did my due diligence.
Any suggestions on how I can calculate the threshold needed to give me acceptable (<10%) SEM and CV%?
Thanks for the help.
I've only just discovered how Ashwagandha can be used to treat anxiety and I am speechless.
I've read so many comments of people's experiences, and the inconsistency is unreal. This drug is literally a Russian roulette. It seems like it helps most people with their anxiety, but the severity and variability of side effects that get reported does not seem ok, or even safe, at all. I'm sure it would help me with my anxiety, but I just can't ignore all of that. What the fuck?
PS: Healthline is a website I really trust for information related to diets, medicine, mental health, sports etc... Their article on Ashwagandha does not even mention ANY side effects and makes it look very safe https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/12-proven-ashwagandha-benefits I'm at a loss for words.
Hey newcomer here,
One day we're at -27 celcius with wind-chill and the next day the temperature is above 0 again. I've always lived in places with much less variability in temperature within such a short period of time.
I'm wondering if it's just climate change or has it always been like this? If so can someone shed light on the reasons why?
Thanks,
Edit: I've no idea why the post flair is now COVID-19 related...
Just moved to Hyderabad and living in Shamshabad. I noticed that the auto-walas charge too much and even Ubers/Olas are pretty costly here as compared to Mumbai(the place I came from) where they use meters for autos and รผbers/olas are a cheaper. What would you suggest I do? Unable to figure out public transport/metro routes online.
P.S: I know Omicron is raging so I will take thag into account whenever I travel.
I'm no expert, but I got in the market just over a year ago and it seems to me that daily fluctuations of 5-10 percent was perfectly normal around that time... I remember it felt like an absolute roller coaster, and after a few months of volatility it sort of just became normal.
Nowadays we see a dip of (and usually a pretty quick bounceback) and its like the sky is falling. You'll notice that none of the old-timers from the 2017 or 2013 bull runs are even flinching. If you want to make it in this market I would suggest following that path. If you aren't already doing it, now is the time to start DCAing. Maybe we will keep going down for a bit but I guarantee every single person on this sub will be complaining in 2025 saying they wish they bought more when prices were 'low'.
Take a deep breath, put your phone down for a bit, and plan your next moves.
Peace y'all

tl;dr If you have a Polar H10 HR sensor, check out EliteHRV to monitor heart rate variability.
Wanted to share this. There's a lot of discussion these days about training/overtraining. HRV has become a metric to help understand when you may be over doing it. This is a key feature of Oura and Whoop as well as others. I started a more structured training plan for the first time in ages and was a bit concerned about being too aggressive and overdoing it. Both kids both use Oura rings and find them useful but they've always been in good shape. Me @ 67? not so much.
Anyway, not interested in dropping the $$$s for Oura or Whoop. Been using a Polar H10 for HR and thought there had to be a way to monitor HRV. Polar will sell you their $400 fitness watch to do it - no thanks. Searched around and turns out there is an answer and it's cheap! EliteHRV is an app that uses the H10 sensor.
Set it up 4 days ago and it's really great. A quick 2-1/2 min monitoring and you get an overall readiness score to help you determine your readiness for activity. Tons of other nerd data as well if you want. For the $5 'Premium' upgrade you get Strava integration (and others) too, although that's a bit clunky at the moment.
IOS or Android and only the Polar HR monitor or you can buy their finger sensor.
Hey ya'll there's an event happening in Boston area (and there's a zoom option as well, I believe) for avid variable star observers November 5-7! It's the 110th Anniversary, so it should be worthwhile. There will be several keynote speakers and other events happening throughout the weekend. Here's the link to their website if you want to find out more! https://www.aavso.org/110-annual-meeting
