... keep reading on reddit β‘I got my undergraduate degree in Anthropology a couple of years ago and ever since then dreamed of creating a qualitative research career that involved international populations.
For the past year I've dabbled in some quantitative skills (SPSS, Python, PowerBI) to help me be a bit more comprehensive but my ideal methodologies will likely always be interview, survey, oral history, ethnography, etc... I not only feel more comfortable with them, but just prefer them overall.
I'm at the point where I've experienced how harsh and volatile the job market can be so I'm hesitant to focus on any one area where I'd like to do research. I think the reality is that I will need to try and grow wherever I land... the most important thing to me at this point is that I'm primarily a qualitative researcher and that I work with international populations, ideally doing something vaguely cross-cultural at some points.
What kind of graduate degree should I be aiming for? And if any of you have advice on how to start acquiring experience I would greatly appriciate it. I've been struggling to find any research openings that don't require a Master's degree.... I've interviewed for the few that do not and haven't had any success. And because I've been out of school for a few years, I haven't had any luck in getting an internship or unpaid position for experience.
