Intensive forms of therapy

Is there a therapy that is forceful / Intensive??

I know this is often seen as not a good idea. You don't want to re-traumatise yourself etc, but I have been to maybe 4 or 5 therapists over nearly 10 years and I keep getting to a point where I need them to reach in and pull apart of me out. Meaning, the sit back and wait approach (for me to open up) doesn't work. My feeling is, is that there is something out of my control (psychologically or emotionally) and it won't let me be open. Is that clear?

So I can't open up, but if I'm pushed then I have no choice but to reveal the trauma or pain or whatever you want to call it. Now, I'm not silly, I don't just want to be re-traumatised. I want the therapist to get me there and then inject some empathy. Does that make sense?

Anybody know what I'm talking about??

HSCT obviously has its risks, not as much with the less intensive version but still, so the question is, if someone came up to you and offered you the treatment, would you take up the offer?

Abortion restrictions and bans are a form of discrimination on the basis of sex, in other words; female oppression

Making laws that specifically target to remove the basic human rights and freedoms (privacy, medical care, self defense, body autonomy/integrity, reproductive) of ONE group of people on the basis of sex is discrimination.

Female people who are fertile are vulnerable to impregnation due to biology. Banning or restricting abortion uses this biological vulnerability against us, to remove our basic rights to protect our bodies from harm and get medical care. Pregnancy causes damage and changes to the female body, and forcing a person to continue gestation is a form of reproductive coercion/abuse. Banning abortion causes harm to the female body by using a biological vulnerability to hurt us physically and psychologically.

Claiming that women can just abstain from sex is also discriminatory. Consensual sex between adults is perfectly legal and not restrict-able based on whether a woman agrees to continue gestation. Controlling womens sex lives via forcing gestation on women is discrimination. Women are free to have sex without gestation and childbirth; agreeing to gestation IS NOT a prerequisite for having consensual sex.

Claiming that women can just get surgery is also discrimination. We do not restrict consensual sex based on fertility status. We do not discriminate against those who are fertile.

Trying to control female people’s bodies is sex based oppression, and discrimination on the basis of sex.

Edit to add: I have to say I’m very disappointed by the pl effort in response. Very weak arguments to defend discrimination.

Edit to add: this was my response to one pl.

Again, the β€œlegitimate purpose” of β€œprotecting life” NEVER involves removing basic bodily human rights from citizens who have not committed a crime. The government doesn’t get to steal someone organs when someone else needs an organ donation and justify it by saying β€œwe’re protecting life so we get to violate your rights and this isn’t discrimination even though it’s only being applied to one group of people!”

You want to apply this unequal violation of human rights only to fertile female people who are impregnated. That is discrimination on the basis of sex. Trying to justify it with β€œprotecting life” only proves that this is a discriminatory law, because we aren’t using β€œprotecting life” as an excuse to violate anyone else’s human rights. It’s exclusively applied to women, which shows it’s not about β€œprotecting life”; it’s about discriminating against women.

Edit: I just want to

CMV: Having the word "divorced" on medical intake forms is unnecessary, shaming and should be retired.

Identifying married/separated may be helpful to the medical center because it may help them collect fees if the patient does not pay and helps establish who is the medical decision maker if the patient is incapacitated (POA also helps). It does nothing for the patient.

Identifying marital status may be helpful to the patient because it is associated with long-term health outcomes. As such, knowing your marital status can help your healthcare providers determine the best treatment plan and predict patient outcome. Using a large number of variables to help in an individual's treatment planning is called "precision medicine."

However, the categorical approach of married, single, divorced, separated has limited utility in precision medicine. Separating divorced/single/widowed seems to have limited utility unless more context is provided.. Instead, getting a full history of previous relationships, the quality of current relationships, etc.is much more useful.

There remains stigma and shame around divorce. And as one internet writer remarked, it's not pleasant to be reminded of one of life's low points when filling out routine forms.

So until the clinical utility of asking about divorce is shown, health care services should stick with married, single and perhaps separated and an indication of having a significant other. "Single" should be enough to cover anyone not currently partnered.

How do we argue that the modern world is not a dystopia? (Also please help I can only communicate with other humans in the form of self-righteous 1700 word monologues.)

From a Youtube comment thread under a "Hello Future Me" poll asking whether Arcane is a dystopia.

OP

> I'm not sure why Arcane doesn't feel like a dystopia when I think it technically is close enough to be counted as one. Honestly the best reason I think I'm unsure is just because of how nuanced and real the show made its world and characters. It's almost like to count Arcane as a dystopia, we might as well count our own world as one. Also super hyped to hear Arcane discussed in a video!

Reply from 'A'

> That's because, in the eyes of many many many many many many many MANY people, the world we currently live in IS a dystopia.

My reply to 'A'

> That sort of robs the word β€œdystopia” of any meaning. Most people today live far, far better from their ancestors. It’s so different it is not really even comparable. Certainly many people, particularly in the West, are unhappy with the current state of affairs, and often justifiably so. But if we live in a dystopia today, then the nearly all humans who have ever been alive lived in a dystopia. That doesn’t feel right to me.

'B' replying to my reply

>so I think there's a lot of relevant bits you are either missing or overlooking here. For example: think of any techno futuristic dystopia in fiction. Anything that you think clearly counts as a dystopia, but where the technology is advanced way beyond modern day technology. There are likely countless ways in said dystopia that the lives of the people are "improved" by technology compared to today, if you narrow your vision and only look at that technology and not the wider scope. They must have it so much better! No, brushes like dystopia have to be painted by looking at the broad picture.
>
>And some of the broad picture elements that justify viewing our own world as a dystopia have to do with things like the disparity between the top amount of wealth and access and the bottom. It didn't used to be so wide of a gap. In fact, go back far enough and the gap was only mildly better for those at the top! This disparity is at absurd levels. Another element is how technology is being used. Think of a new technology. When it starts to exist, who does it primarily serve? Who does it continue to serve? Who benefits, who is harmed? Tech in our current world has a strong focus on benefitting those who have over those who do not have. If there's some benefit to those who do not have, then the tech is almost required to be benefiting "the haves" m

Can I write using words to form sentences to convey ideas? Can sentences form paragraphs which together form scenes, chapters, sections, and the whole book? Or is that copying?

I watch a lot of anime and it has inspired me to write a novel. I've started writing it, and then I heard about this Netflix series that has some very vague and extremely generic similarities to my own works (namely, I have characters and they perform actions).

Is it okay if I write my novel to have characters in it? Or will people think I'm ripping off acclaimed Netflix series Van Helsing?

I've heard that Stephen King also wrote novels with characters. Am I copying him?
