... keep reading on reddit β‘Does anyone know where I can read the Inglourious Basterds Graphic novel that was on the site of Playboy?
During the famous tavern scene, why did Hicox decide to take charge even though he's the least fluent German speaker? Why didn't Stiglitz or Wicki take charge from the beginning?
Edit: Also, why didn't the Nazi captain and the soldiers recognise Stiglitz? According to another officer, every German soldier is supposed to know him.
Title says it all. I must know, there has to be at least a dozen of them.
Other than Christoph Waltz, who else do you think should have been nominated for an Oscar for their role in Inglourious Basterds?
No R rated movie month would be complete with out the extreme violence and profanity that comes with Tarantino. So we will be watching one of his best. The genre and history bending Inglourious Basterds.
This, for me, is probably my favorite of his films, although it is often hard to pick a number one spot. So I'll be glad to watch it again to see if it still reigns supreme. Do you think it's among his best? If so, why? Or why not? Tell us your thoughts!!!

PREMIUM: Epochs of the Lotus Eaters #7 | Film Review with Mauler - Inglourious Basterds
Beau and MauLer chat about Quentin Tarantino's 2009 World War II movie 'Inglourious Basterds'. They discuss the distortions of history as well as the story telling and movies making techniques.

Tarantino has mentioned in interviews that his films have two separate universes that different movies take place in. One is a realistic universe that is very similar to real life, minus the fact that people are about a hundred times wittier. The other one is a more exaggerated universe where everything is allowed to be extremely ridiculous and over-the-top as it's meant to feel like a movie.
Inglourious Basterds, for the most part, stays pretty realistic, offering a brutally realistic depiction of an intelligent Nazi psychopath who's willing to kill people out of self-satisfaction, having two tension-filled twenty-minute scenes, and, well, dealing with WWII. And then, Hitler is shot to death in a movie theater.
Any notions of the film being something that could happen in real life are immediately thrown out the window with that one scene, or so you would think. Pulp Fiction stays realistic, for the most part, besides, as previously mentioned, the incredible witty dialogue, but also, Jules' famous speech. He cites Ezeikel 25:17, a verse from the Bible as being his speech, but if you've read the actual passage, you'll know that this shouldn't be the case as the actual Bible verse only includes the very last part of the speech.
It's even alluded to in Inglourious Basterds that history books can often be incorrect under certain influences. One of the very last scenes shows Hans Landa speaking to someone over the phone who'll write down the historical events that took place incorrectly to picture Hans Landa in a positive light, even though he definitely wasn't a positive person. So it could be possible that it was also written down that Hitler died via suicide in the film to cover up the actual Operation Kino plot that took place.
What are your thoughts?

HAIL CINEMA
Iβve recently rewatched the Inglourious Basterds on Netflix and noticed that the Chapter Title screens are just blank with no words though the text does appear in the subtitles. At first I thought itβs a Netflix thing, so I fired up HBO and sure enough, blank screens instead of chapter titles there too.
Then I thought I remembered it wrong but a Google search revealed that there were actually chapter titles screens just as I remembered them, though I couldnβt find anything on why they would be missing on streaming platforms.
Iβm just curious as to why they would change that?
At the beginning of the movies, Colonel SS Hans Landa interrogate Perrier Lapadite, at some point he switch from french to english. He does this because he kows that people are hiding under the floor. He also knows who they are and a lot off other thing about them, as the fact that they don't speak english. He continu his interrogation, getting knowledge off where the people are exacly hiding. He then ask Perrier to "follow his mascarade". That's his mistake "mascarade". The word is the exact same thing in french and in english. Same word, same exact meaning. Shosanna must have understand the meaning of what was happening witch give her an head start.
