A list of puns related to "Indo Gangetic Plain"
This is the Indo-Gangetic plains. It is a wonderful part of the earth. It is incredibly flat. Its borders are incredibly well defined geographically. The geography has made it easy to conquer. Once an army takes one part, the rest is easy to capture. Because of this the area has a shared history, culture and linguistic group. The people who live here live incredibly similar lives. This life is very different from those who live in the mountains, like those in Kashmir, Pukhtunkhwa, and Baluchistan.
The British recognized this and decided that by creating a very unnatural border they can weaken the Indo-Gangetic people. This border is the India/Pakistan border.
Pakistan's existence and ethos is a means to create instability in our region. The lives of people who live in Pakistan are divided into two. Those who live in the mountains (Aryanic people) and those who live in the plains (The Indo-Gangetic). This is not a political distinction, it is a difference in how people live. A major example is in the plains women pay dowry to their husbands family when they get married. In the mountains, men pay dowry for their wives. This is a direct consequence of the density of people to arable land.
Indo-Gangetic Pakistanis (Punjabis and Sindhis) were asked to leave behind their Indo-Gangetic identity and to become ashamed of it. Instead they were told to adopt an Islamic identity. The Sindhis did not take up the delusion. The Punjabis took it. This is why many Punjabi Pakistanis are incredibly ashamed to be associated with their Indo-Gangetic heritage. This insecurity has led them to want to be associated with Pashtuns, Turks, Arabs, etc. This insecurity has led to a lot of suffering for them and for us.
There is nothing wrong with being Indo-Gangetic. It has an incredible culture and history. I hope that one day Punjabi Pakistanis can embrace their Indo-Gangetic heritage, instead of trying to be part of some Ummah. That is not an ethnicity or an identity. It is a political delusion. Punjabis are Indo-Gangetic and that is not something to be ashamed of and never should have been.

I've never gotten a straight answer on this. Some people say you can refer to them as Hindi, but I'm not sure how accurate that is. There are regions within the Gangetic Plain that have their own ethnicities like Awadhi and Bhojpuri, but I know of no term referring to all of them.
Would such a term even be accurate? If you were to ask someone living in the general area of Kanpur, for example, what their ethnicity was, what would they answer?
Such as in this map for example.
I read this claim a few weeks ago on Reddit, and I'm wondering if it's true. A quick google didn't turn up anything useful.
That is around the time of intensive agriculture on the subcontinent, was the land purposely deforested for agricultural purposes?
Also did the collapse of Harappan Civilization, cause a migration of people from there to the Gangetic plains before the Aryans swooped in?
Note: also includes Bangladesh too in Gangetic plains.
