A list of puns related to "Indian Film"
Watched Jai bheem recently and the production value, cast, acting all were outstanding. What are some of must watch films made in India which are NOT in Hindi language. Kindly suggest also where i can watch if possible (as i will.be needing subtitles). All genre welcome. Looking for drama and mature audience flocks mostly. But any recommendations are welcome. Edit: thanks for suggestions. Keep em coming.
Will Brahmastra get as much love as a Baahubali?
This is oddly specific, but I've been trying to find this film for years now. I watched it roughly 7-12 years ago, but it could've came out even earlier than that. It's an Indian film, not sure whether it's Bollywood or South Indian and was dubbed Hindi, but I did watch it in Hindi.
Details: Basically, in the film, the son takes the blame for murdering/ attacking a male figure in the family (I believe it was an uncle or a family friend that was visiting). After he is arrested, his family faces a lot of shame in society and everyone in his family hates him, especially the father. Once the son is released from prison, he wants to have a good relationship with his family but everyone hates him, except his mother. Throughout the film, there are scenes about how he kind of tries to help his family behind-the-scenes with no one knowing. In addition, he falls in love with a girl at a college. (Oddly specific, but I'm pretty sure there was a basketball scene or a scene where he gets jealous over a note the girl gets from another guy and then he professes his love after this incident?) Anyways, there is a goon/ gangster family that is messing with the guy's family. One of the gangster's like the son's sister, but she is marrying someone else, i.e., her lover. At the end of the movie, the gangster crashes the wedding and tries to kill her lover (partner). The sister accidentally stabs the gangster and at this time, the son- her brother, same guy hated by family- shows up and takes the knife from her before the police arrive. He essentially reassures her that nothing will happen and that he will take the blame, while their father and entire family is watching this all unfold. Now, it is revealed that this is exactly what happened years earlier when he was arrested. The male figure at the time had ill intentions towards his mother, who struck out in self defense. The son had taken the blame back then and was about to do so again.
I have tried a million different ways to search this movie and have found nothing. I can't even remember a SINGLE actor so that doesn't help either. I did try searching movies by year and possible actors but came out with nothing. It sounds similar to the movie Boss with Akshay Kumar but it's not that one. I want to give up but I REALLY want to rewatch the movie no matter what, even if I do remember it really well. I appreciate any help I can get, thanks in advance guys!
Edit: THANK you so much for all the help guys! I really appreciate
... keep reading on reddit β‘So I have been on this subreddit for quite a while now and have taken some amazing recommendations so I thought of returning the favor.
TUMBBAD (2019) It's a movie that about greed among generations with some creepy twisted mythology, amazing vfx and powerful performances.
I feel like this subreddit mostly consists of either American or Japanese movies so maybe give this one a try.
Mine are Sardar Udham, The great Indian kitchen and Sooryavanshi (I enjoyed watching it).
They have throughout Bollywood either depicted as corrupt bribetakers, or as over-the-top Superheroes. I wanted some movie recommendations in the middle of the spectrum which would picture the Indian Police/Other Investigation Agencies in an authentic/realistic manner.
Preferable the Indian Police Service. (UPSC aspirant hu bhai)
I'm so out of touch of Bollywood i can't even recall any good Police movies. Please NO Dabangg/Singham/Simbaa/Crime-patrol/Policewalagunda masala.
1- Item number (a song in which a girl dance with nearly wearing no dress - most of such songs are copiedο»Ώ from Pakistani films of 60s, 70s and 80s)
2- Sex scenes (bed scenes - kissing scenes)
3- Adult Language and abuses and hatred
4- No story line - No message - No use - People clap on adult jokes with their families
5- Films without a story looks trash so the production signs big artists
6- For such a film, only one good song can make it famous before its release
Edit: it's a fun thread intended to be taken lightly, I know there are good movies and interesting ones out there, what observations I'm posting are for mainstream typical Bollywood
I enjoy Hollywood and Bollywood films much more than Pakistani films.

I don't know how credible Film Companion is or if it's paid reviews; but only 2 Tamil Movies made it to their top tier list while 3-4 Malayalam movies made it to the list.
I'm really disappointed with Tamil movies in general! Where are our content driven movies? Are we slowly becoming increasingly commercial and worshipping heroes like the Telugu industry? I really wished we produced more quality content like the Malayalam industry.
Saw the visual effects of some recent Indian films and not gonna lie, they look kinda impressive inspite of their low budgets (especially the phenomenal work done by Red Chillies VFX). I'm curious to know about the salaries, post-production stuff, advancements in the technology used, work culture and overall experiences of working as a VFX artist for Indian movies, as compared to big budget Hollywood tentpoles.
So, can anybody on this sub give some detailed explanations about the VFX scene in India?

The 2019 Indian coming-of-age comedic drama βChhichhoreβ is set to hit Chinese screens nationwide on Jan. 7, 2022. It will be the first Indian film to release in the worldβs largest film market in two years following a bitter border dispute.
The news comes as Chinese authorities remain mum about approvals for Hollywood blockbusters like βSpider-Man: No Way Homeβ and βVenom: Let There Be Carnage,β yet have just programmed a slew of small, years-old titles from countries other than the U.S., potentially indicating a more severe ban on U.S. imports.
βChhichhoreβ is directed and co-written by Nitesh Tiwari, whose last film β βDangal,β starring Aamir Khan β became an unexpected smash hit in China in 2017, grossing $193 million.
Indian films have been unofficially iced out of China since skirmishes on the border between the two countries in 2020 led to a rise of nationalism and acrimony on both sides.
Before that, Indian cinema experienced some unexpected successes in the China market, but commercial performance was mixed.
The Khan-starring title βSecret Superstarβ grossed a surprising $118 million in 2017, while mid-tier films such as βAndhadhunβ and βBajrangi Bhaijaanβ grossed $47 million and $45.5 million, respectively. There have also been flops, including the 2017 mystery thriller βCoincidenceβ ($1.45 million) and lavish βBaahubali: The Beginningβ ($1.11 million).
Tiwari may have trouble pulling off a second βDangalβ dark horse feat here, however, with his latest title running 143 minutes long but lacking a headlining superstar like Khan. The reportedly $7 million-budgeted film has grossed around $30 million so far worldwide.
Its subject matter is likely to resonate with Chinese viewers, however, as the film tells a nostalgia-tinged, emotional story focused on a relationship between father and son as they grapple with the intense pressure of college entrance exams and reminisce about the past.
βChhichhoreβ will debut in China a week before βThe Matrix Resurrectionsβ on Jan. 14. It will be facing down five strong local competitors premiering New Yearβs Eve, including the highly anticipated corruption actioner βG Stormβ and the rom-com βEmbrace Again,β which features top stars Huang Bo and Jia Ling, the writer-director-actor triple threat behind 2021 Chinese New Year hit βHi, Mom.β
The news of the first Indian theatrical release in years came just a week after the
