My uncle and Grandmother's food stamps were both shut off. They requested telephone appointments for their redeterminations and were sent in office appointments. When they got in, they were told it was a six hour wait, even though they had an appointment. My uncle is disabled and my Grandmother elderly. Any recourse for them? They cannot wait that long in the office.
I was given less than a weeks notice about this appointment, but it was to be conducted by phone.
They scheduled it for today. Stated that one of THEIR caseworkers would call me between 1pm and 3pm Central Time. It is now about 3:20 pm. I've had my phone on me all day. I made sure I had a connection. I have received no phone call from them. Does that mean they're going to cancel my application? Will I be the penalized? Should I call and leave a message, as conveniently they stop answering the phones at 3pm...
I'm so happy that I didn't take off the last two hours of work to deal with them as they didn't bother calling.
I was supposed to receive my SNAP benefits today. I went to the store, got all my groceries, went to checkout, and I had a zero balance. I was supposed to receive them today. My normal day is the ninth but I received a letter stating the date had changed to the 10th. I went online, it say my case is active. However, it shows my benefit amount as zero dollars and no pending benefits. This is a major setback, and I'm extremely confused and concerned. I received no other communication regarding the status or anything stating I wouldn't be receiving them. I have no idea what to do. I know I can contact my DHS office tomorrow but I don't even have a caseworker because I'm assigned under a special case where I only need to report if I make over a certain amount of money in a month, which I haven't. Anybody work for IL DHS and can shed some light on the situation? Anybody else in IL have or had a similar experience? Thanks

I don’t even know how or where to begin this post...so here it goes.
Around last March my dad got stage four prostate cancer. .I actually moved into his place last March in Idaho to take care of him and my grandmother (who has dementia) while he had prostate cancer and was going through treatment. Then after 11 weeks of radiation 5 days a week miraculously the cancer went away. My dad was doing better, and my work offered me a promotion that I had to go back to Vancouver to take. We both decided that it’d be best for me to move home and take the promotion. Right before I left my dad he mentioned that he found a lady from a dating site who was a care giver who could take care of my grandma. (Because of the dementia we were always worried she’d accidentally burn the house down or something).
When I asked for the name of the caregiver my dad told me her name was Melinda Conzelman(he called her lindy) That’s where everything changed. When I looked her up the first thing I found was this Supreme Court case she had lost against her ex. (Hi lights include her lying to the police about being hit, hacking into her ex’s phone and cutting off communication to their family, etc)

The second thing I found was a long post of people from all over the states (Florida, Illinois, Colorado, Wyoming to name a few) saying she had done things to them.

When I saw this I immediately showed my dad trying to tell him that she was dangerous but he was so set on finding a partner to love him. My dad said he wasn’t going to talk to her anymore, we left it at that.
Later into that year my dad changed the story. Melinda now lived with him and was taking care of my grandma. He now declared that I had to get along with his gf or get out of his life. I was speechless. My dad had never been someone to do something like that. Before I could even come up with a choice his ex (Melinda) had us blocked and cut off all communication with us. And I got a lot of replies from people saying, “Are you SURE it wasn’t rigged? How do you know? Where’s the proof? I heard that it was, so maybe we should look into that.”
Ok, so let me double back for a minute.
If you honestly aren’t sure whether or not the election was rigged, the best way I know to address that is to provide a wide variety of sources on the subject.
So here are 44 sources - a number of them supporters of the president - for you to consider.
In my view, if you genuinely believe that the election may have been stolen, you owe it to yourself to at least check your beliefs against what you see below.
(And if, upon review, you determine that the evidence does not support a conclusion that the election was rigged, the next step would be to cast a skeptical eye toward the sources that repeatedly tried to convince you otherwise.)
“But Jeff, why should I believe anything you say?”
Don’t. Check the sources.
“But Jeff, these sources are all corrupt and lying and should be ignored!”
Ok - but just know that when people accuse you of believing a conspiracy theory, this is why.
It’s because - in the face of an immense number of fact checks, Republican judges, and Republican elected officials - you’re not willing to consider the possibility that you may have been misled.
That’s conspiracy theory territory, and you should just know that going in.

I am currently in the hospital. I had a back operation yesterday. The surgical nurse came in my room and started asking questions about my back. She asked me if I had any falls during the last year. I responded just one. It was after summer.
She laughed and said in 20 years of doing this she never was told that joke.

This happened a few years ago when my son was 6ish. When my kids hurt themselves and it doesn’t look serious I always do the “we might have to amputate that bruised hand” shtick with them. I’ve done it enough that they now roll their eyes.
So, my son got hit lightly in the face with a rubber ball. It wasn’t a hard hit and I could tell he was more upset by the shock of it rather than the pain. So I say “looks like we will have to amputate your nose.” To which he replies “then how will I smell?” And I say “terrible!”
It was my greatest dad joke ever. I felt like I could retire after that.
