A list of puns related to "Identity Provider"
Hello, I thought I would come back to give an update on what happened since my last post, and comment in hindsight on the steps I took that were important and the ones that proved useless. It may help someone in a similar situation some day, and I would be glad if it did! I also would like to get some follow advice to know whether I would be justified in seeking financial compensation for what happened to me, and how to go about it.
What originally happened (you can skip if you have read the original post): My identity was stolen and used to fraudulently enter a contract with an energy company, in a flat I briefly lived at 3 years ago (as per my tenancy agreement I was not liable for the bills while I lived there). The bills were never paid, the energy company took the matter to court and I was convicted to pay over Β£3k in unpaid bills and late fines. I remained unaware of the situation, having left that flat 3 years ago until the current tenant of the flat looked me up on social media and contacted me to warn me about threatening letters he was receiving that were addressed to my name.
What happened next: Following the advice I got from the sub, I did the following:
The court got back to me to let me know there will be a hearing to decide if the judgment should be set aside, and I received a letter from the energy company's legal team letting me know that they will agree to have the judgment set aside, and will discontinue the claims against me. I am really happy with this outcome, but there is still a sticky point: I want to ask for compensation for the costs I incurred while fighting this, and I have some questions about the process.
Guys -
So I have this requirement for authentication on a project, they want to use OAuth 2.0 in a similar manner as you would with Azure AD acting as an Identity (Token) Provider, but instead being back by an Identity database.
We don't want to use IdentityServer4 etc, since it now has a cost. So is there a way to use Microsoft Identity in .NET to perform authentication, but run/host our own identity provider based on a database to return the tokens?
I've just not seen any examples of this outside of IdentityServer4 or Azure AD acting as the IdP. I'm guessing it isn't possible, but if that's the case then I'm surprised.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
We currently have both Microsoft and Google going here. They are both using their respective directories to authenticate their users. We are thinking of switching Google to use Microsoft as it's identity provider, but we have numorius applications setup with "Sign in with Google". We are wondering if they will continue to work or if that will break them. Does anyone know?
I clicked a link and it led me to the microsoft store but I cant download it since theres no button to.
Also Im doing this because I cant see any Xbox services in the services.msc
...And Im trying to find it because the Xbox App isnt allowing me to sign in because when I press sign in the box just flashes 3 times and disappears.
PS: Yes having a lot of trouble with Windows lately, sometimes I understand why people have Linux as their primary OS in their systems.
Edit: Id like to think Ive looked in every corner of the web and each "solution" led to to more problems, hence the long chain of problems Ive come to ask for assistance with.

I want to start a new projet I will never complete, and I want to put a real auth in it.
I am a bit tired of dealing with Jwt myself etc So I'd like to use an Identity Provider, but which one?
I used keycloak some years ago but the templating and the server side login page is a big no
I looked at Auth 0, but it's limited to 7K users and my future dead project may took off and have billions of users!
Is there a free identity provider with openId Connect that just have an API I could use to handle my authentication and running it in a simple docker container?
What do you use?
ps: Sorry for my potato english
I bought an Elite Series 2 controller, and I can't even configure it because I get this error that others reports, but Microsoft has no valid response or support article on.
I've signed in to all 3 of the Xbox applications (not sure why we need 3 different Xbox apps installed, but I digress). I've tried signing out & back in, I've cleared the MS Store cache.
I've attempted to get the Identity Provider service, but there's no install button for it in the store so I can't possibly install it.
Error code has no support article, I found only 1 forum post with some canned response from support that doesn't even address the correct issue. Any ideas?

Greetings
We're slowly moving any compatible platforms to 2FA or SSO and I got to do Mimecast next. I'm slowly reading up on the documentation and checking prerequisites so apologies if it is mentioned in the mimecast docs and I just haven't read far enough yet.
It's been in use for about 2 years now, so basic configuration is fine. One of the prerequisites is of course configuring an app registration, but Mimecast already has one in our tenant for directory synchronisation, but the rest of the required parameters for SSO are not yet set.
Has anyone used that same app registration for SSO / 2FA ? Would it be a bad idea to configure a brand new app exclusively for SSO ? The documentation seems a bit muddier if I follow the "already have an app setup" route
