I am a recent graduate from a mechanical engineering program and am interested in a career in the amusement industry. From what I've gathered IAAPA brings manufacturers from all of the world to showcase their new ideas and designs as well as runs workshops for industry professionals. Does anyone know if manufacturers are ever recruiting or looking to network with potential employees at the event? Through I would see if anyone has had experience with this before I spend the money to attend.
The IAAPA Europe Expo 2021 kicked off in Barcelona today, a handful of theme and waterparks have been playing host and all's been going well. It is in the itinerary that PortAventura director David Garcia will hold a presentation on Thursday from 10:25 to 10:45 am local time on the park's future plans. Which, if rumors are to be followed, are naturally quite interesting.
It was confirmed in an interview awhile ago that they were planning a new attraction for 2023, could/would either be a coaster or dark ride depending on what audience they felt the need to cater to. I'm not sure if a formal decision has been made yet. There's been whispers of an Intamin floating around on PA forums for awhile now.
A few new key pieces of information have come to light. Earlier this month, walls went up around a sizable chunk of parking lot adjacent to Red Force. An eagle-eyed user on park forums noticed that a recently updated re-upload of the Hot Racer promotional video shows a change of the path surface to match that of Ferrari Land. (Only a very dedicated enthusiast would notice something minor like this and take it seriously). Intamin officials were also at PortAventura yesterday, although I'm gonna rule this one out given the ongoing Expo.
So what's it gonna be? We're gonna get something at PortAventura in 2023. I know that they've a few other projects in the works, but its very possible that we'll get some kind of indication on Thursday as to what that 2023 attraction might be. How likely do you believe that PortAventura (Ferrari Land technically) will get the first Intamin Hot Racer north of the equator based on this info?
