I loaded up VATSIM twice today. The first time was this morning. Not hearing (or seeing much of) anything, I decided to try again this evening.
Both times I went to Atlanta. Atlanta is showing plenty of controllers logged on. I tune to the frequencies shown under “Controllers in Range” and haven’t heard a single thing.
I checked ATIS, and I can hear the weather report.
I don’t have a headset with microphone, but I have audio set on VATSIM to come out of my normal speakers. I didn’t plan on flying, just listening in to radio comms to get a feel for it.
I’m probably doing something wrong, but I can’t figure out what. Any ideas?

I don't understand why this isn't discussed as a major perk to being a veteran. Lifetime healthcare with no premium after being honorably discharged. I get a bill for about $30 anytime I need care. I totally understand the VA has issues, but I have had a great experience with my care through the VA. This coverage has allowed me to pursue my own business without having to worry about some sickness putting me into bankruptcy.
I'm just curious about what others think about this.
I mean impostor in the sense that they say they have credential X, but it turns out that it is astronomically unlikely that they actually do.

I'm asking because I think I've run into such a person. I have no intention do anything about it because, I'm not 100% sure, I feel like it is none of my business and I have too many deadlines and unanswered emails to voluntarily get involved in anything.
Is this a once in a decade event or does this type of thing happen all the time?
I’m profoundly deaf, I was born that way and this has been the number one problem between me and my MIL. I met my wife (she’s hearing) three years ago and she was basically the only female who has ever wanted a serious relationship with me. Everyone else left after spending some time with me and realizing it’s too difficult for them. And I don’t blame them, a relationship with a deaf person can be more challenging and complicated than with someone who’s hearing. But my wife was always there for me no matter what and by now, she has mastered sign language and our marriage is functioning very well.
But my MIL has always had some kind of dislike towards me. I have no idea what I did, I’m always trying to be very polite with her but still, she has never approved her daughter marrying me and I believe it’s exactly because of my deafness. MIL has never tried to talk to me. When we first met, I didn’t expect her to know sign language, of course, but now three years are past and she still hasn’t even made the slightest attempt to communicate with me. My wife mentioned it to her once and she was like "Oh no, that hand waving is impossible to understand!" Actually signs like ”hello”, ”how are you?” are very easy and now, three years later I see the fact that she hasn’t learned it yet, as an ignorance.
I can speak but usually, I don’t, because it’s difficult for me to control the pitch and volume of my voice and MIL has decided that since I’m not only deaf but also don’t say a single word, I’m also mentally impaired. Because of this attitude, we only see her when it’s some kind of holiday but yesterday was her birthday and she invited us to her house to celebrate. When we were sitting at the table, MIL started to talk to my wife and while doing that, she obviously forgot one little thing about me. I can read lips quite well. There are some people who talk very fast and then it’s difficult for me but if you’re speaking normally, I can do it.
Maybe I didn’t get every single word but basically, MIL was telling my wife that I’m a complete imbecile and she should really consider divorce before she gets pregnant from me and give birth to some other deaf idiot. She also said that those with disabilities should be all put in locked facilities further away from healthy people.
My wife wasn’t having it, she signed to me that we’re leaving because MIL is being rude to me and I then asked her to tell her mom I understood everything she said. Then I walked away and waited f

He also had it tough in school and got real bad grades. He then changed by going to India studying to become a monk and he bases some of his work on Eastern philosophy (meditation etc) but he has understanding for people who don't agree with it and doesn't force it upon anybody. He decided being a monk wasn't for him so he returned and took school serious and became a psychiatrist.
He is very open. Woody is very open. I'd love to listen to a conversation between the two. Many people have found help through him. Many had started crying with him because of how emotional they get.

I’m on board no racism but I still constantly hear racist imitations of Asians. I mean why is racist against black and Jewish stuff not okay but Asian is all good. At least keep it consistent.
So, I love deep talks, like depression, politics, taste philosofy and stuff, but today my brother and my father were discussing politics, both had an authoritarian view about government, thought one were leftist the other were rightwing, and they both ignored me who was more libertarian view, then i Just quit, just not worth my time.
I am atheist so what I'm saying rn might make zero sense to a Christian so plz don't beat me up lol. It's just a thought that crossed my mind and I was curious.
