I want to have the Hunter Davies biography and I don't know if the latest 2010 version is better than the 2006 illustrated one! Aesthetically, I prefer the 2006, not sure if this one is the one that has more pictures. Does anynody know which one is better? Thanks

English is my first language but I'm on mobile.
I picked up The Beatles Book a few days ago after it piqued my interests, I dived in and learned much information from it immediately, Hunter Davies has an incredible amount of knowledge about the Beatles and seeing some of his memorabilia was very fascinating. It is split into four sections: People, songs, places and broadcast/cinema. All of them where packed with information that even die-hard beatlemaniacs might not be aware of, and if you're looking for an encyclopaedia that has all you need to get a huge cache of knowledge, I can't recommend this enough, I doubt you will need another Beatles Book after you get this. However; it's not perfect, for example, in the songs section Davies provides reviews of the music. Some of which were... interesting. In one instance he gives Love Me Do a perfect ten, stating: "Has to be top marks - because look what happened afterwards." Now I agree that it was a big change in pop music and gave the Beatles the platform for success. However, when you give it a better rating than I am the walrus, Hey Jude, Penny Lane and Let it be (Just to name a few) then I have questions. I know opinions are opinions and they can't really be right or wrong, but I think that they can be criticised. I also found spelling errors in the book, and while they don't affect the information so much, when I was reading I found they pulled me out of the experience.
Overall: 8.5/10 Lots of information and rich writing that captures the essence of the Beatles, but spelling/grammatical errors and strange ratings bring it down for me.
A few days ago I was waiting for my niece to finish her spa/beauty bar visit and was left with free time to do a little brain noodling. Anyone who knows me will tell you that 2 of the things I have loved all my live are books and the Beatles. A strange convergence happened that evening. Next door was a book store and I thought I would take a peek inside to pass some time while I waited. While I wandered the aisles I came across a Beatles book by Hunter Davies. Most will know that Hunter Davies wrote the original, and only, authorized biography of the Beatles back in 1968. I remember back in the early 70βs as a kid the joy I had from discovering this book at the library, and the number of times I leaved through the book, reading the stories and marveling at the pictures. This was the closest I could get to these idols far away in the tiny Ontario town I grew up in. The book I held in my hand while I whiled away my time in the book store was a Beatles encyclopedia that Hunter Davies wrote and published in 2016. What a wonder, and a brush up against my youth, discovering that book . A few days before had been the 50th anniversary of the Abbey Road photo shoot that resulted in the legendary and much replicated album cover. I had been there in London back in May taking photos crossing the zebra walk. On that same UK trip i went to Liverpool and explored all the haunts of the Beatles before they became the gift that they were destined to become. Now there in my hand was a book about the Beatles written by the author that first introduced me to the Beatles story. I have not purchased a physical book in maybe 10 years having migrated to the electronic versions of the βwritten wordβ, but I felt an urge or maybe a need, to bring this book home. I am now the proud owner of a copy of the Beatles Book by Hunter Davies and those 2 parts of my life collided together in a book store in Toronto.
tl;dr. Discovered a Beatles encyclopedia written by Hunter Davies and purchased it.
This one, from the 1986 edition of his Beatles biography. I don't think the typically PR-conscious Paul would have shared half of this stuff if he'd known it was on the record, although it seems he was so upset that he may have stopped caring.
Did Paul at least know in advance that it was going to be included in the book in 1986? I can't find much information about it.
Yo I put every song mentioned in depth as an early influence by The Beatles in Hunter Davies βofficialβ biog of the band into a playlist on Apple Music. Here it is:
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/playlist/the-beatles-early-influences/pl.u-g3lRh5MGZ0J
Hunterβs book came out in 1968, and is still the only official βauthorisedβ biography of The Beatles. Itβs an awesome read, with an incredible amount of access. The playlist I made features every early song the guys mention in the book as being a big influence on their songwriting and general taste. This is the stuff John, Paul, George and Ringo would have listened to as teenagers when they were just starting to write songs and play music.
Itβs a great listen - some pretty obscure stuff alongside some classics! You can see a lot of songwriting-steals too. Love Letters by Ketty Lester, for instance, was ripped off massively by Lennon for βGodβ. And the same track was famously always the last song of the evening to be played at The Cavern too - basically the sign that audiences had to clear out and leave the building.
Anyway, enjoy!

Edit: suru video because lots of questions. Itβs a great little knife but it has slight lock rock. Nothing is broken and it locks up fine and stays locked. Just a bit of a user with some rock. Hence the half off. Thereβs also a scratch that can be seen only in certain light. I dropped the price another $10. Tried to show it all here. https://imgur.com/a/sfTlAPQ
Also fox said they would fix but Iβm too lazy to send to Italy :)
