Almost Right after getting into office, The Economy Boomed. Record Unemployment with Low inflation brought Humphreys Approval Rating to 63%. His Popularity only got better after the Little Rock Crisis.

Governor Orval Faubus of Arkansas defied national order to desegregate schools. And thus blocked any African Americans from Entering, Humphrey was Furious. He Demanded that he allows the Children into the school, The Governor Refused. Thus, Humphrey Sent in the Troops to escort the Children. This was Heavily Praised by many.
Humphrey was seeing a large wave of popularity and easily won the Midterm Election and regained both chambers of Congress.
Though this popularity all soon came crashing down.

In 1953, Cuba has a German backed Fascist Coup. And it was under Full Fascist reign for many years.
The USA, Obviously was not fond of this and President Dewey Had Secret Plans for an Invasion in case something happened. President Humphrey had a rough time with the Cuban Government.
Cuba destroyed a passenger boat headed to Brazil with American citizens on it on 1959, and Humphrey was outraged. He tried keeping good relations with the Cubans but the Cuban Government Refused to Listen. and with the help of Germany, They kept Defying Humphrey. Humphrey is currently undergoing a Diplomatic battle with the Cuban Government. And there are rumors the Cuban Government Took Survivors of the destroyed boat and are keeping them hostage.

Humphreys Approval Rating was already souring after the problems with the Cubans, and the Recession was the Last straw.
On January 6th, 1960. The Economy Fell into Deep Recession. And it has not since recovered at all. it seems to even be getting worse by some ways. Humphrey tried to enact Some new social Programs but these didnt help. Humphrey Approval Rating sits at 44%.
