Calling all current and former recruiters! So Iโve ended up on the HSST list for FY22 unfortunately... Im going to submit a package for recruiting duty. What are the PROS and CONS of recruiting duty? Do I get to pick my location for recruiting? Any information will be appreciated.
I have a buddy who is a Marine who just recently got HSSTโd. He said this would push him towards either being a recruiter or a drill instructor. I have never served and am not familiar with all of the Jargon I see in other posts/ threads related to this on here. I was wondering if anyone could dumb this down for me. Specifically , what is the process of being HSSTโd. Who is selected and why? are you selected at random once promoted to sergeant or is it something that you must be qualified for? Or am I completely wrong and itโs because you fucked up or failed some evals? If it was your choice, would you prefer the recruiter aspect or drill instructor and why? Any help on the explanation of an HSST would be greatly appreciated.
Hey gents quick question. I was already putting a package in to volunteer for DI then I got hsstโed Obviously not getting any bonus or anything like that , and HQ really decides what Iโm going to do. However, I was wondering if I write in my comments section that I would prefer DI and also had my chain recommendation added as well what is the likelihood of HQ even taking that into consideration? Any info would help!

I have a Draw case code of BK(Selected for HSST), I also have a code of Z7. What does the Z7 mean.
If a Marine denies and get the RE-3O code does that limit them from joining the reserves? Additionally, if that marine got a tattoo after the package was submitted, would that disqualify the Marine in any way? (Yes, it is within Regs.) Thanks all.

Thought I'd managed to evade and escape this the first time it came around, but it looks like the Corps is determined to snatch me up. Thanks to my tattoos, Recruiter and MSG are off the table, but DI and CI have already guaranteed me a waiver ^^^hooray so I'm on the shortlist for one of these billets.
What I'm looking for is info, specifically irt how bad this may fuck up my family life considering I'm not married, but do sometimes enjoy spending time with my dog and my girlfriend. What are the daily hours like? Housing? Libbo? Leave policy?

I just went to a Marsoc brief today and told them I wasn't interested, my gunny walks up to me about 4 hours later and tells me they HSST'ed me, what exactly does this mean for me?
Iโve read here that you get some code and canโt re-enlist or get promoted. Iโm personally told your EAS moves up to the graduation date of the class you would have gone to. So which is it?
HSST. That was something I learned about when I first got to the Fleet and heard a bunch of Corporals and Sergeants hating their life because they got "HSSTed" for an SDA like DI, Recruiting, Combat Instructor. How exactly does it work? Does the HSST board just take the best Marines in each MOS?
Hi everyone I need some help I reenlisted fy15 with a duty station incentive and have been given orders however they were pulled (I'm not sure why) and now I am on the hsst I am being told that I will not be able to pcs now even though I have that reenlistment perk.

Sailorette here, married to a SGT in the marines. Heโs on that HSST list, which really throws a wrench in our upcoming plans to get orders to Hawaii (and at the same time). We are officially colocated and also Iโm pregnant.
Iโve tried google with no results.
Any insight on how dual mil works with this? Do you think that would be enough to disqualify him? Any experience with this is much appreciated!
Iโm reenlisting, donโt want to get HSSTโd, my shop is Bias towards recruiters given they were prior recruiters, havenโt talked to any prior DIs yet; but what are the pros and cons, Iโll be talking with the Career Jammer soon. Thanks.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Does anyone know how SDAs/HSST is taking the new Tattoo Policy? Specifically Recruiting. Iโm HSSTd and have a class date already and was wondering if theyโre still being strict on allowing Marines with tattoos. I donโt have any tattoos as of right now and was wondering if I got one thatโs in regulation with the new policy, (half sleeve from elbow down), would they have an issue? Obviously donโt need the tattoo any time soon if itโs gonna cause issues.
