A list of puns related to "How The Grinch Stole Christmas!"
(I saw this somewhere else, I forget where.)
Who-ville is one of the best-known locations that the good doctor created because it is a major setting in two of his most popular books: "Horton Hears a Who" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". As we all know, the Whos play with noisy toys and sing "Welcome Christmas" every Christmas, which greatly annoys the Grinch.
However, in "Horton Hears a Who", the dust speck on which Who-Ville is built, and by extension Who-ville itself, is only saved when every single Who (and possibly everyone anywhere else on the speck) makes as much noise as possible so that the kangaroo and the Wickersham Brothers can hear them. After that, the Whos probably made it a tradition to make lots of noise once a year, to remind the animals of the Jungle of Nool that they are there.
This also adds another layer to why the Grinch hates the noise so much. He probably thinks that all that noise is meaningless because the animals know that the Whos exist and are willing to help Horton protect the speck. Yet another layer is added when you remember that Horton discovered the Whos on May 15, which is nowhere near Christmas and would be a more meaningful day for the Whos to make noise.

I was watching the 1966 (animated) βhow the grinch stole christmasβ yesterday. I think itβs pretty clearly a critique of the materialism surrounding Christmas. The story shows that the Whosβ foundation for christmas is not based on material gain, but itβs also clear that their christmas isnβt based on their religion either. There are sermons, no readings from their sacred text, none of the βreason for the seasonβ BS. The implied significance surrounding christmas for the Whos is the happiness they get from being together as a family and community.
So as I sat through another obligatory mormon christmas program with canned church videos, cringey accapella hymns, and read-aloud messages from dusty old men, I looked around the room to notice that nobody cared. Not even the most devout TBMs seemed into it. There were yawns and glazed eyes and a general lack of engagement. But later when we sat down together to eat talk and play games, it was as lively as could be.
I realized the Whosβ conclusion applies to us as well. Christmas is about our shared happiness through our loved ones. Itβs not about a church. Itβs not a baby who would go on to save us from all the awful things heβd do to us if we didnβt let him save us. The religious βmeaningβ of christmas is just as corrupt as the consumerism. And try as the Mormons might to change that meaning, they will never truly succeed.

Iβll consider any offers or lists. Iβd prefer an animated family film for Grinch, like Polar Express, Charlie Brown Christmas, Abominable, Secret Life of Pets 2, Rango, Dreamworks, Blue Sky, etc. Or a Christmas flick like Elf or A Christmas Story.
Anyone else convinced that Dr. Seussβs story βHow the Grinch stoke Christmasβ is actually about minimalism?
I always heard it was due to some technological limitations, but I canβt get a clear answer on it.
We all know that the Grinch was an outcast who The Whos basically laughed at until he decided to leave and live at the top of Mt. Crumpit as a little boy. Well, my theory is Max was abandoned and thrown down the garbage shoot as a puppy and the Grinch finds him there. He was dropped down the shoot and one day while the Grinch is picking up trash to bring back to his home, he finds a small puppy who follows him home and the Grinch decides to keep him around - or as a more realistic situation would go; Max follows him back and the Grinch just goes with it. Acting annoyed and bitter but in the end not really caring all that much. This would also explain why the grinch (2000) says βYou know where it goes? To me. In your garbage!β because while The Whoβs are trying to keep these perfect personas the grinch sees them for who they can be, which is greedy and selfish. This could also add on to the fact as to why the Grinch hates The Whoβs so much - He found Max thrown away as a puppy at the dump by The Whoβs, And the Grinch basically saw something that was alone and an outcast... Just like he was.
It made over $400 million DOM adjusted. The new one, despite being a much better movie, will do $300 million at most.

So i just got home from the gym and my wife was watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I googled it to see the rotten tomato score out of curiosity because i thought must have gotten a pretty good score only to find its at 52 percent.
Am i wrong that this movie is popular? Every time i watch it i think its great. Its one of the few movies i can rewatch 18 years later. Jim carrey is incredible and the design of the world is perfect. Some of the reviews say the comedy doesnt fit but idk i find it hilarious. And the reviews say its not heartfelt but again, i just watched the scene where he is seething and calls people out in the phonebook and find it very sincere.
I dont know if other people have brought this up so i apologize if its a repost. Im not calling it a landmark movie or anything but i enjoy watching and so does my son. Does the 52 on RT fit in your opinion?
I always noticed this for a while now. If you ever watch this movie on TV, and then switch to Blu-Ray, you will notice that the TV version has scenes that were cut from the Blu-Ray version. Does anyone have an idea of why they would cut content from the Blu-ray/DVD version? There's quite a good amount of scenes, and it explains the random cuts in the movie.
Which do you guys prefer? Personally I prefer the Jim Carrey version, I just think itβs funnier, more entertaining and has actually aged really well. The new Grinch is fine, not as bad I thought it would be tbh but nothing about it to me felt that special. Iβm a huge Cumberbatch fan but I donβt think he stood out that much as the Grinch and his performance was a bit disappointing. Also the Carrey version feels much more like a Christmas movie if that makes any sense lol
