A list of puns related to "Hot Properties"
My hot tub is on its way and Iβm trying to figure out how to keep it healthy for guest. I figured Iβd have the local hot tub company perform service but they donβt have the staff to support check ups after stays.
Any recommendations on apps or tools to remotely regulate chemicals / health of my new spa? Itβs a Sundance cameo and will be network connected.
I want to ask this question here before I start pestering / pissing off our brand new landlord!
My husband and I just moved into a new apartment a week ago, everything else is great and weβre happy with the property. The only issue weβve encountered is with the hot water in the shower. Itβs an older place and we didnβt expect the hot water to be unlimited of course, but Iβm curious if this falls into βlandlord should be repairing thisβ territory or if we should just suck it up and deal.
Usually, when I turn on the shower, I turn the cold water tap just a tiiiiiny tiny amount, and then turn the hot water tap a lot to bring up the pressure. The water is what Iβd classify as βwarmβ for about 15 seconds, and then becomes lukewarm - that is, more cold than warm, but thereβs still some hot water running at least. This can last anywhere from 2-5 minutes, then the hot water runs out entirely and thereβs only cold water left.
This evening I had a shower that had lukewarm water for about 20 seconds, then went straight to freezing cold. For reference, my husband and I had each taken a max 5 minute shower earlier in the day, but that was it. We hadnβt even done any dishes or anything like that today either.
This is mildly annoying in summer, but I suspect it will be unbearable when it gets colder. Is this something we can complain about and ask for it to be fixed? Or can the landlord just come back with βsorry, the hot water heater is small, suck it upβ?
As the title suggests I broke contract and gave my keys to my landlord because I was tired of being ignored. I emailed him last in late August telling him again that I have no hot water and that the boiler is making strange noises. I was given no response.
Today the email I received said that the last email he received was in April and he believed that the issue had resolved itself even though I emailed him again in August. In the email he goes on to say that he is disappointed that I did not pay an additional month of rent even though I had already vacated the property and returned his keys. He also said that he will be taking my entire deposit because I did not pay an additional month's worth of rent and that I still owe him Β£400 because the deposit doesn't cover the entire rent.
I've contacted citizen advice bureau but was told they are too busy to deal with my calls.
I need legal advice immediately as he has threatened me with a court date.
Edit: my fixed tenancy ended in July, it has currently rolled over on a monthly basis. Therefore, I have not broken contract.
Second edit: my landlord has not checked the gas safety for more than one year.
Additionally, 1 1/2 of my deposit is inside a deposit saving scheme.
We have moved into a large, old house and the bills are very high. I'm trying to figure out the most efficient way to manage the hot water.
In the cellar is an Indirect Hot Water cylinder, controlled by a Honeywell Smart thermostat, and powered by a relatively new 48kw Worcester boiler.
The current schedule has the hot water on for four hours in the morning, and four in the evening.
In my previous home I had a combi boiler, so hot water was produced only when It was needed. In the current system, hot water is being heated and stored whether it is used or not, and I'm trying to figure out if this is more efficient, or even why this was chosen over a normal combi boiler.
We are not a high useage household - but the home is big so maybe it's a way to get hot water around the property.
If I set the hot water schedule to be off entirely - am I right in saying that the immersion heater in the hot water cylinder will heat the water? Is there any way that would be more cost effective for us than heating an entire tank of hot water?
Would I be better moving to a combi boiler system?
