Thor: Ragnarok - I know this might come as a surprise to you all, but a superhero film made money. The latest from the MCU Thor: Ragnarok managed to shake up the box office blues of the last few weeks opening at #1 to a massive $122.7M. That is the best opening yet for a Thor film, the 16th straight #1 debut for a Marvel film in wide release (thanks a lot Inhumans for forcing me say that last part from now on), and the 7th best opening weekend for an MCU film. This also marks the third MCU film in a row that has opened over $100M. In fact all three of those releases were this year, the first for any franchise. It also has helped pushed the MCU as a franchise past two major milestones, becoming the first franchise in history to pass $5B domestic and $13B worldwide. The film also had the best November opening ever in China, opening there to $55.6M this weekend. All that to say Thor: Ragnarok has done incredibly well and there's a lot of factors as to why.

Thor: Ragnarok (cont.) - Thor was always the odd duck franchise of the MCU, there since phase one but definitely the smaller of the initial three well behind Captain America and Iron Man. It also wasn't the most critically acclaimed either, not hated but not loved. As such it was a wise move on Marvel's part to hand the reins over to Taika Waititi who has had a string of critically beloved films that mix humor and genre. The tone shift was pretty immediate from the first image of the logo, an 80s arcade influenced brightly colored object that defined the marketing from then on. Include some great trailers and finally having an avenue for the Hulk (sidenote: ask me why Hulk can't have his own movie for legal reasons) outside of The Avengers and it makes sense why this one was such a hit. Interestingly the big shift demographically was women, with the split between men and women being 51/49 receptively whereas Thor: The Dark World saw a split of 62/38. Heading back to fort sill tomorrow, what’s 13B ait like and what to look forward too and how much field time?
In reality 11B only peaks my interest because 20k bonus and 7.5k off season ship bonus. Other than that from what I've read your a grunt you do grunt stuff and sweep bays. 13B could be a blast, and seems like dropping an ocs packet later would be easy, really for both. Bonus is 12.5k and same off-season ship. which mos will I most likely be able to pick up deployments with? Was originally set on 12B but I had surgery and lost my slot and next ship is date is like June and family/work stuff doesn't line up for that. So 11b or 13b is the question. In oregon.
