A list of puns related to "Hormonally Yours"
I've been on HRT for a month now. Had to stop because I was getting really high blood pressure and bad tachicardya for a few days straight. Apparently my dose was too high. Talked to endo, now the plan is to do 2 mg instead of 4 for a month or so for some time.
I know stopping HRT for a week even after only a month won't revert me back to where I was a month ago, but I am just curious - what happens hormonally?
Looking for a nice copy of Shakespears Sister's 1992 album Hormonally Yours, ideally in the US! I do think, however, this was only pressed in Europe so I'm open to whatever. Cheers :)
What the title says.
Question aimed to transpeople that already socially transitioned (present as female in the case of transgirls, present as male in the case of transguys) and hormonal transitioned (body has "transitioned" to the desired sex).
While i understand life is considerably better for transpeople that transitioned due to the lack of gender dysphoria, im sure not everything is 100% perfect and there must be things transgirls dislike about live as girls both socially and "physically"; and guys must dislike something about live as guys both socially and "physically".
I see many topics about "the joys of being a girl" and "the joys of being a guy", but almost nothing negative about getting accustomed or living as the opposite "sex".
Im quite sure the shock must be pretty big at the start.
Why YSK: There are women who were on birth control for many years and stopped taking it only to discover that they arenβt attracted to their husband or boyfriend anymore. Itβs a pretty devastating thing to have happen to you and many of them couldnβt salvage the relationship (understandably so). Taking anything that alters your hormones will most likely have an unpredictable impact on your dating and sex life, and while this pales in comparison to some of the negative physical health problems birth control can cause, itβs still a risk you should be informed of.

Quick question, for an uhh... friend.
Is it dangerous to forget to get a hormone test before you start HRT as a baseline? Or is it safe enough as long as you get tests to make sure you end up around the normal feminine levels?
Edit: thanks for everyone's responses, I'm going to get my blood tests for liver, hormones, and stuff in a month or so. I got a few people assuming I was doing DIY but I am just using GenderGP and told them my blood was all fine because I wasn't aware of the proper tests that need to be done and imo "full blood count" is a misleading name. And so I wanted to check in with ye here to make sure I didn't mess the whole process up π
First of all let me say I admire your bravery for being so strong. personally my family has seeded doubts in me that hrt can very heavily impact your health in the long term. Is this true?
Iβm wanting to hear what yalls experience was cuz sometime I worry Iβm going too fast lol
Coming from a woman on my period. I keep crying and Iβm not sure how to respond - I recognise how irrational the tears are but is it harmful to dismiss the feeling?
On day 8 feeling good
Idk. I've just seen so many posts here about people being worried they're pregnant because they track their cycles and see that they're in their "fertile period" or are generally afraid they're ovulating....and then follow up with how they're on the combined pill that they take on time, or something.
Like, do pill packets not give a general intro to what exactly the pills are doing anymore?...like...preventing ovulation from even happening...so there's no need to track for fertile days with combined pills? Do people still even read those? Because the pill packets also say what to do when you miss 1, 2 or 3+ doses on different phases, yet there's so many questions about what do to about a missed pill. Do OBGYNs not go over the absolute basics of what they're about to perscribe?
How does one willingly hop on board for getting prescribed a medical commitment like birth control and /not/ research what it even does to your body to prevent pregnancy, beforehand??
I asked a lot of questions in this description and I definitely don't expect them to all be answered lol. Maybe this is something of a rant, idek. I'm just so surprised and want some insight, because perhaps I'm missing something, y'know?
Edit** Seeing a lot of people talking about doctors putting young girls on the pill without fully explaining how it works while the surrounding adults also do not teach them about the pill and their fertility despite signing their kids up for it and I am just mindblown.
I have read so many stories about so many dead bedrooms and men struggling. GET YOUR HORMONES CHECKED GUYS!!
I struggled with hormone issues for more than a decade (history of cancer) before I finally found an endocrinologist that would help me and started testosterone replacement therapy. I had the testosterone of a 90 year old man and I assure you I am NOT 90! LOL My testosterone has gone from below the bottom of the range to high mid-range and I feel incredible! It took several types and approaches to treatment before we finally found one that works for me.
We experienced a period of complete celibacy which lasted over 8 YEARS as a result!!
Ladies, pay attention to additional symptoms in your man. Night sweats, fatigue, lack of libido, loss of muscle mass, weight gain, moodiness, depression, "man boobs"... these all point toward low testosterone and or high estrogen!
Low testosterone should be diagnosed by a combination of blood tests and symptomology! How is he FEELING! The "range" doctors love to quote are for statistical AVERAGES for men from 18 to 90 years old! Everyone is different. It is of course best to have your own baseline established when younger and healthy, but they do not do that these days (and never have).
Be your own best advocate! If you feel like crap speak up until you get someone to listen! As I said, it took me a decade or more to finally get someone to listen but I never gave up! Push until you get results!
It is also important to know your estrogen levels as well. The balance between testosterone and estrogen is the key!! High estrogen can produce the same symptoms.
Reclaim your manhood!!!
I do perfectly fine making it through my fasting period most days, except when Iβm PMSing. I always end up having to push my eating times back further and further because I give in to cravings late in the night. What are some ways to overcome those cravings and maintain a consistent fasting schedule?
Like clockwork, every month before and slightly into my cycle, I basically become completely useless and unable to function beyond a sub normal level.
The brain fog is overwhelming, I canβt speak coherently or linearly (let alone having to often converse in a second language) and my thoughts just turn into incomprehensible rambles like a train is constantly derailing.
I find it super hard to get motivated or interested in anything, or even do things I typically βenjoy.β I take Lexapro to manage the extreme emotional mood swings and pms-induced anxiety and depression.
But right before my cycle and a couple days in, I might as well not even take my Concerta as it has little to no effect. I feel like my experience is getting worse with ageβ¦
Any other fellow sufferers out there? Any golden tips especially for having to keep up appearances and productivity at work and home?
just like the title says. I was called transphobic (to clarify I am ftm) because I said that if you take hormones and you don't need them, you may ruin your body. if that is , I would really like an explanation as to why. also context, this was a convo w a lesbian ab wanting to look more masculine. they clarified they were not ftm or even nonbinary. just a butch lesbian. the way I see it, so many changes on T are permanent and won't go back if you stop. plus the male sex and female sex are different. your secondary sex characteristics change on hormones. this can literally give you body dysphoria. having the wrong sex characteristics than you believe you should, is physical dysphoria. again, if that belief is transphobic then lmk.
Ya, this was probably asked already here, but yea
Hey dudes,
So my gender doctor has never checked my T levels, she told me it was not needed and didnβt provide much info to her. I recently learned from a trans friend that he gets his hormones checked every 3 months??
Does your doctor check your hormone levels? If yes, how often?
Edit: Iβve been on T for 3 years, and sounds like I have a sketch doctor
I know hormones causes your face and body to change but what exactly is it that it's making a change like what action takes place in that
I feel like I need to tread lightly lol. I've been so much more emotional lately. I'm so affected by everything and my emotions are heightened. They also seem to change so much if I can actually get some decent sleep (this has been difficult for a while now) and get through the blur of really intense feelings. Can anyone else relate to this?
This is definitely not a normal advice to give for weight lost but I think itβs really important to talk about especially when looking at weight lost/gain. Often weight gain is associated with laziness or personal bad behavior, so when our own bodies are fighting against us it ruins the whole journey. Personally, I thought there was something wrong with my behavior when my body didnβt cooperate with exercise routines and diets would not work. I assumed the pain I felt from exercising was a reflection of that βlazinessβ instead of a symptom of hormonal imbalance. It didnβt help that, despite a healthy diet and exercise, I still gained weight and felt like shit. Only when my boyfriend was deeply concerned with my extremely poor body heat regulation did i get checked out and discovered I had a thyroid condition.
Now on my medication, I am losing weight about a pound a week. I donβt hurt or feel absolutely miserable when exercising. Iβm sweating and my muscles feel alive. Been on the right medication for about 1 month and Iβve lost 3 solid pounds. 3 pounds is not anything to celebrate over but the point is I feel good for once in my life. I have energy and I can recover. Iβm taking it slow and paying extra attention to my body this time too. Iβm slowly increasing the amount of time I spend exercising, and Iβm aggressively sticking to my Asian diet with no snacks and avoidance to wheat. But the main point is I feel good during and after I exercise. I still feel the pain/burn, but at least my muscles and bones donβt hurt the way it use to. My brain doesnβt get foggy after exercising. I can recover now.
Idk, itβs not a normal advice to give for weight lost but maybe one person needed to hear this.
Edit: forgot to mention. I have Hashimotoβs. Apparently the pain and brain fog I felt was due to using up my T3 hormones.
AND IT HURTS SO MUCH MORE THAN A NORMAL INJECTION πππ
I MEAN IβM REALLY HAPPY BUT AT THE SAME TIME OWWW WTF
I just hit my 6 months of HRT/transition the other day! Yaaaaaaaaay!! At the visit they said my T levels were 62, and E levels were 75 ish I think, don't remember exactly. They want to see my T get below 50, and they said my E levels were low, most likely because I hadn't been on it for very long (only 6 weeks on my current dose of 6mg)... I was hoping you girls could help me with 2 questions...
I'd love any input y'all have. I do understand some changes are less likely to happen after a certain age, but let's leave age out of it. I already beat myself up enough for not having done this 20 years ago!
Dose details if it helps: I started Estradiol sublinguals on august 1st, at 2mg. Then I got put on 100mg spiro two months after. As of late November, I was at 6mg of E. I just got bumped up to 200mg spiro a few days ago.
I've been on 3 years HRT.
I had to swap from pill (which I never forgot) and spray to gel for liver and supply issues.
However, eversince I've been using gel, I often go days and sometimes weeks where I forget to use it simply because I get dirupted during my routine, and once routine is disrupted my ability to function kinda becomes RNG. And like, gel takes 10 minutes of dedication so I end up procrastinating or thinking I already did it.
Then I feel crap due to hormones being out of whack.
Then because I feel crap, I end up unable to will myself to spread gel. Which makes it worse
Cue death spiral.
End up recovering, do it properly for 2 weeks.
Then forget again for a week.
Anyone relate? if yes, how the hell do I avoid my constant dysfunction spirals.
