A list of puns related to "Home And Colonial Stores"
I think there was a person in the logo, but it may have just had a reference to colonialism. Iβm not from the USA, but I remember it being a relatively well known store (one that I recognised the name of), like Bed, Bath and Beyond or Pottery Barn.
Iβm not sure, maybe Iβm confusing the Australian company Early Settler.
Any ideas??

We live near Cleveland, Ohio and have an old home built around 1903. I like to describe it as a very gothic, victorian-esque dutch colonial. The architect had a unique style for the time so instead of individual rooms, the living room is very large and open to hallway (separated by two pillars) which then opens to the dining room and kitchen. You can see from one side of the house to other.
I'm really struggling with our living room layout. I feel like I've tried every possible furniture arrangement and none of them work well. The problem is, the room is open and there are no walls longer than 5.5 feet that don't have a window, bench or window seat. We have a beautiful stone fireplace that we want to be the focal point, but we're a family of five and use it watch TV and it's where guests come and gather and chat, kids play, etc.
In its current configuration, we have the couch along the front wall of the house that has a large window, facing the fireplace. We have it about 4 feet from that wall, so it's not too far from the TV. But, with the end tables placed on each end, you can't easily get behind the couch. Perhaps we need to push back towards the wall and live with it.
There's not much room next to the loveseat for the end tables and a small side table would be tight.
Goals:
We used to have it setup with the couch blocking one of the arches and facing the window seat, the tv in the corner (to the left of the front window) and the loveseat positioned on the left side of the fireplace, angled towards the TV. This opened the space so the fireplace could be enjoyed, but you were always looking away from it, towards the TV. It also made for a poor conversational arrangement. It had a cozy feel, but it also blocked off the openness of the room somewhat (which is ok), but it also created a jailed in area where the TV was.

... keep reading on reddit β‘I read this story around 2007 maybe? I think it was potentially gold rush related too. If I think of more details Iβll add them.
Edit: okay, post colony! Sorry, more like old west.
