A list of puns related to "Hither Hills State Park"
We're doing a group outing in a few weeks and I was wondering if there was anything I need to know or any tips I can pass on to the guys. I'm hoping it'll be slow, as we're going for a bachelor party, and although we're certainly not obnoxious or rude, we'll probably be up late, and don't want to disturb anyone.
EDIT: Thanks for the advice so far, everyone.
EDIT: This post has spawned a full document detailing this idea. Read the document instead. Here is the link
Iβm preparing to run this adventure soon, and I really like it. However, I know that my group and I will enjoy it better if there are more opportunities for combat as they travel through Prismeer. This subreddit has been a very helpful source of ideas and inspiration, so Iβd like to share these ideas I came up with in case they might be similarly helpful to DMs who think like me.
Donβt get me wrong, I like the general tone of the adventure; however, I donβt think Iβll have fun running a straight βalmost never roll initiativeβ campaign, and am trying to lean more toward βavoid putting the players in situations that lead to simple fights to the deathβ. Furthermore, I donβt mind taking longer with the adventure by adding memorable encounters. With that in mind, I looked at the locations in Hither to find if there was anything lacking.
I like the initial encounter with the brigands; whether or not it leads to combat, itβs certainly a great confrontation and introduction to the concept of negotiation in this adventure. Then thereβs the Slanty Tower, which I found a little meh, since the players donβt have to do much to βearnβ Sir Talavar and his expositions. But this post by ZemblanityFalls fixed that for me- now thereβs the snakes and thereβs Sobella protecting the dragon from them but also not wanting to let him go- conflict! Great. Brigandsβ Tollway seems like a very nice tactical encounter. And in Downfall thereβs a lot going on with the others pillars of the game (exploration, social interaction), enough for me to feel comfortable letting combat and conflict take a back seat if the players go that route.
Telemy Hill, thoughβ¦ I donβt like it. The players donβt really have to do anything for Jingle Jangle to help them; even dealing with the bandits is something theyβll do somewhere else. And since I donβt want to breeze through the adventure, not minding a need for more rests, I decided to expand the location by locking the interaction with Jingle Jangle behind a combat encounter and a heroic rescue!

... keep reading on reddit β‘is there multiple parking lots? i recall driving to the MTK lighthouse and i saw hither hills parking lot off the road to the lighthouse. it was like a lot that fit 8 cars and started at a trail head so im assuming theres a more general parking area for the beach cause no way 8 cars could fit enough ppl for a state park lol.
I was given a residency at the State Park last year. I went for a week in autumn, a week in winter, and week in spring. I would walk the park with my field recorder and record sounds, then come back to the cabin and make music with the sounds. The album goes from late autumn to early spring. I made it last year but was shy about posting, I decided I have the courage to post it now.
I have the chance to spend a few hours hiking Cedar Hill State Park this weekend. Anyone have any tips on the park or places I've got to see while I'm there?
