A list of puns related to "Hiram Bingham Iii"
If you're interested, there's a great book called the Cradle of Gold, by Christopher Heaney, about Hiram Bingham's life and background, the rediscovery and history of Machu Picchu, along with Incan history (including riveting accounts of Incan rebellions, centuries of conquest and insurrection) and shows the links between Hiram Bingham, and the swashbuckling explorer movies his life and achievements were romanticized as. The book also goes into the cultural and political significance of the finds over the years since it's rediscovery.
Bingham's story directly inspired Charlton Heston's character Harry Steele in Secret of the Incas, an unshaven, fedora and leather bomber jacket wearing explorer in search of a 'golden sunburst' artifact that belonged to the emperor Manco Inca. The costume department for Raiders watched Secret of the Incas several times as reference, and drew on the film for things like redirecting light to reveal the location of Manco's treasure. There are other books I've seen about Hiram Bingham, but this is the one I read, and it's a really amazing read.
I've included an Amazon link above, there's a kindle version available, but for those of you who might want to support local bookstores, here are some listed on Abebooks: https://www.abebooks.com/products/isbn/9780230112049/30688719256
And finally, here's a half hour NatGeo presentation made in collaboration with the author, available freely on their official youtube channel, if that's more your speed:
