A list of puns related to "Highland Radio"

I swear this show (which is great!) did an episode on some archival recordings of Ozark music from an anthropologist at the University of Arkansas, who caught some gorgeous field recordings of families picking and singing traditional music at home and at local events. I've been trying to look through and search the archives, but no luck so far. If anybody want to peruse the available episodes for their own enjoyment or to find the one about Ozark Folk Song Field recordings, please enjoy.
In further searching the web, I discovered the source of the recordings. Mary Parler who collected this music was married to Vance Randolph. Another poster just shared some of his work in a video post.
Hope some of y'all can enjoy the music and maybe learn something too! If anybody finds the Ozark Highland Radio episode with the field recordings, please let me know, as he gave such good context for the music. It may have been an episode of KUAF's The Pickin' Post, not OHR. If anybody has good music resources or audiobooks/podcasts, I love seeing them here!
FROM THE UofA:
" The primary collector of these works, Professor Mary Celestia Parler, was born in 1904 in Wedgefield, South Carolina. [...] She came to Arkansas in 1948 for research on her dissertation dealing with southern dialects and soon began teaching in the University of Arkansas's English Department. In 1949 she undertook the University of Arkansas Folklore Research Project which continued under her supervision and that of her successors, especially Prof. Robert Cochran, director of the Center for Arkansas and Regional Studies. Mary Parler was a founder of the Arkansas Folklore Society in 1950. In 1962 she married Vance Randolph, generally recognized as the foremost authority on Ozark life. Parler was featured in the 1954 CBS documentary called βThe Search,β which depicted her search for the origins of an Elizabethan ballad, βThe Two Sisters.βΒ After Randolph's death in 1980, Parler returned to South Carolina, where she died in 1981.
As a faculty member in the UA English Department from 1948 to 1975, Parler taught classes in Chaucer and folklore. With her field assistant, Merlin Mitchell, and students, she traveled throughout the Ozarks between 1949 and 1965 to make field recordings of Ozark folksongs on reel-to-reel audio tapes.Β Β "

... keep reading on reddit β‘In her hotel on Orkney while preparing her local campaign, Kate is on call with a local Shetland BBC division having an interview to show locals why they should consider voting Labour
> βHello everyoneβ, says the host, βyouβre listening to BBC Shetland Radio, and today we have a very special guest; the Honourable Captain_Plat_2258 from the Scottish Labour party.β
> βKia ora, glad you could have me on.β
> βOur pleasure. Now, Kate, this broadcast that will mostly be heard in Shetland, what will Scottish Labour do for that area?β
> βWell, Scottish Labour has a very strong set of policies surrounding upholding the Union of Equals and creating a working relationship with the national government. This includes negotiating with the Prime Minister on international matters, ensuring Westminster is fighting for Scotlandβs interests abroad. Shetland is mainly a fishing community that operates in the North Sea. Scottish Labour will negotiate with the national government to ensure they keep our working relationship with EU countries in that area intact now that Brexit has gone ahead.β
> βIt is Labour policy, Miss Kate, to respect the Welfare Plebiscite. What will that mean for Shetland?β
> βWell Shetland has a reasonably high population of people in working class conditions and in their later years. Allowing Scottish Welfare Devolution will give the Scottish government the ability to set welfare rates for people who need it, often more working class people, so that they can be supported. Furthermore, our proposed devolution of taxation would allow us to set fairer tax rates for things like small business fishing.
> βSeems reasonable enough. But this current government is fairly stable, why should voters switch to Labour?β
> βOh now thatβs simple. This government has zero respect for the voting public. Remember the Welfare Referendum? 83% vote in favour of devolution, a turnout of 61% (which is fairly high for such an issue), but theyβre ignoring it because of their own boycott campaign that is literally impossible to measure in effectiveness and likely isnβt very effective unless the actual βturnoutβ was a lot higher than even most elections. More people in the Scottish population voted βyesβ on the Welfare referendum than voted βnoβ on the Independence referendum. If you look at those numbers, and you look at how much the Conservatives prattle on about the Indy Ref - itβs obvious to anybody that they care more about their own ideolo

I am a networking/homelab geek that lives across the valley (on Squawk) and has a partially obstructed view of the highlands from my roof. I'm on the prowl for someone who lives in the highlands, and has a sweet gig symmetrical fiber connection, and thinks it would be a fun project to see if we can setup a private radio link across Issaquah.
I won't lie, increasing my crappy upload (currently 10mbit) is part of the allure for me, and I'm happy to negotiate $$ if you are willing to share your internet long term. But I also think it would be a fun project, and would be an interesting learning experience. Equipment is pretty cheap these days, and I'm happy to pay for it all. I'd keep my Comcast connection, and we could set it up so your internet failed over to my side if yours went out (I have no idea how good the HFN service is). I'm also willing to share some of my homelab services if that is of interest to you (I host game servers and a variety of cloud services locally (plex, traccar, nextcloud, etc.)).
Anyway, if this seems interesting to you, or if you want to chat about homelabs (I just upgraded to a 40gb link between my servers!), or if you have an idea for a different crazy scheme along these lines, please comment or drop me a PM!
(Also, I anticipate I won't find anyone, so if you see this thread in a year or two and are interested, please still PM me!)
I am looking to upgrade the radio to one that has apple CarPlay capabilities.
Does anyone have an recommendations and how hard of a project is it? Is it DIY or should I go to an installer?
Any help on this is appreciated. Thanks
Today the SNP Leader began his day with an interview on BBC Radio Scotland with Gary Robertson. Here is a highlight of the Interview:
Gary Robertson: I am joined now by the Leader of the SNP, MSP and candidate for Highland and Grampian /u/daringphilosopher. Daring, hello!
Daring: Good morning Gary, itβs a pleasure to be speaking with you today.
Gary: It is a pleasure to have you on the program! So letβs get right to it, If the SNP were to win seats in this General Election, will your party take their seats?
Daring: Yes we will, the SNP has never been abstentionist. And we have no intention of starting now. I believe that Scotlandβs voice needs to be heard in Westminster and the best way of doing that is being an active participant in Parliament.
Gary: A minority government seems likely to happen in this election. Will your party be open to coalitioning or providing confidence and supply to help make sure there is a government?
Daring: I am open to all possibilities, but I am more likely will provide confidence and supply to a progressive government. However I would like to wait until the results are revealed before we make any decisions on what we are doing.
Gary: You have been an active Leader and voice in the Celtic Coalition. Will you continue being a part of the Celtic Coalition?
Daring: I definitely hope so, over the past term the Celtic Coalition has been working very hard to make sure our respective regions voices are heard in Westminster. And I definitely hope that we will continue to work together in the coming term hopefully as a parliamentary grouping.
Gary: What issues will you focus on as an MP?
Daring: I will focus on the issues that face my constituents and making sure Scotlandβs voice is heard in Westminster. I will focus on issues such as Brexit, and supporting our local communities who voices feel like they are being left out. And making sure that our economy will not be harmed by Brexit.
Gary: One last question: Is your party committed to supporting agreeable legislation from all sides the next parliament, fostering a bipartisan spirit?
Daring: Yes, absolutely! I am willing to work with other parties if the legislation helps create a better and stronger Scotland.
Gary: Thank you for joining us today! Best of luck!
Daring: Thank you for having me.
Has anyone installed an aftermarket radio in their 2014-2019 Highlander Limited Platinum?
I'm researching what feature tradeoffs will happen if I do. While not totally devastated, but not having Carplay / Android Auto for a 2019 car kinda sucks.
Haven't picked a radio yet but I know I'll need the idatalink Maestro RR2 to retain factory features. I do have some settings customized in the car through the radio. So i'm trying to find out what ,if any, I'm losing in order to gain Carplay/Android Auto.
