A list of puns related to "High Accuracy Radial Velocity Planet Searcher"
Alien megastructures like massive telescopes the size of large planets used to study other civilizations in the galaxy could create transiting light curves that mimic planets.
They could also create light curves that appear to be noise as each orbit could present the megastructure with a different orientation.
These light curves would also likely not correlate with radial velocity indicators because they would be essentially massless compared to a similarly sized planet.
Who wants to search the data for these possibilities? We've all heard about those systems with massive changes in the light curve, put smaller changes should be evaluated. With current physics, the best way to explore the universe is with massive telescopes, and one would expect any advanced civilization to be using them.
Doing a question on radial velocity variation for a planet around a distant star. I've got what I believe is the correct answer, but I'm stuck on the units. I can't seem to find an answer online and doing a dimensional analysis gave me "m^3 kg^-1 s^-3" which... might be right but it's a mouthful and I wouldn't know where to start on simplifying it.
Any help is much appreciated.
So I am reading up on extra solar planet discovery techniques and was just wondering if there where multiple planets orbiting close to a sun would it not mess up the Doppler effect since two or more masses would be pulling on the sun and thus you would not be able to tell its true wobble? Thanks in advance!
In other words, how do scientists rule out the possibility that the wobble is caused by multiple planets at different orbits, or by one planet with a moon, etc. ? It seems like a distant observer using the radial velocity method to detect the Earth would have a difficult time distinguishing the amount of the Sun's wobble caused by the Earth versus that caused by the seven other planets.
My question excludes planetary detections that can be verified using the transit method.
When a cd spins too fast it begins to warp, and eventually shatter/explode... Why? The disk wobbles perpendicular to the direction of the rotation of the disk and the amplitude of the wobble grows with each oscillation... I saw it watching a Slow Mo guys video...

The Blaster
The Darts
Mods
Lastly, are there any other factors and mods to consider? Sorry for the large post, it's just that I've taken a much greater interest into the modding scene and kinda want to jump into making some high performance blasters.
Suppose a satellite body with a fraction of the mass of our moon orbits a planet of considerable mass (giants, brown dwarfs etc.). Hypothetically, could such a satellite orbit so quickly that conditions on the outward-facing surface resemble Earth's surface gravity? I.e., when standing on the outward-face, the inward pull of the planet as well as the centrifugal force of the orbit balance out to resemble gravity on Earth. Would this be physical possible? How high would such a satellite's velocity have to be, and how massive the central body? Would it have to be a star or could it be as small as a planet?
Yes

Did you miss Volume 1: Assault Rifles?
This guide is designed to be one of the most comprehensive, detailed, and helpful resources for you on your Atomic journey. What you will find in this guide:
Here is the complete gallery of every loadout recommendation in this guide!
I personally have achieved Atomic (minus the glitched Panzerfaust). This is the second of nine volumes on the complete Atomic grind, one for each weapon category, all rolling out on this subreddit on the dates listed. If this guide looks helpful to you, you will certainly want to stay tuned for the next volumes. The guide is broken up into the following sections. Letβs begin!
Since Vanguard follows the traditional βGet X gun(s) gold in this weapon classβ, you only need to get any six SMGs Gold in order to achieve Diamond for SMGs β so you donβt need to do all of the base weapons, you can do any combination of base weapons and DLC weapons so long as you hit that required Gold count. Naturally this becomes much more flexible as Vanguard ages and adds more DLC weapons, but there are currently no DLC SMGs in Vanguard. As such, at this time, it is mandatory that

In this post, I want to give new players a hint, how make ridiculous money at the start of your campaign. With ridiculous, I mean having 1 billion worth of ships after about 12hours.
All without any repurcussions reputation-wise! This will be from the perspective of the Terran Cadet start, but it is generally applicable to all starts. This is not my finding, but of many different users on this subreddit. Therefore I want to extend my thanks to all you users out there who showed me the way.
So let's get started:
As you propably already know: Crystal hunting, mining and adv. sattelites trading have all been nerfed into oblivion as of 4.0 and onwards.
The only way to fast money in ealy game now, is piracy. This means making pilots abandon their S- and M-ships or boarding L-ships and above. If you don't want to do criminal things in the game, then this is sadly not for you. And why specifically terran ships?
Answer: Not only the ships, but rather also their space: It seems to be hard-coded, that at all times, there are always a number of XL-ships present. If you don't look, you might think they just spawn in. It's propably thanks to their simplified economy in resource rich and safe sectors. Unlike the Split who are surrounded by Xenon-Strongholds. Also they don't start at war with anyone, but you can change that as player in later missions. In fact, it's the opposite really. They easily and happily destroy the Xenon and when they do go to war with anyone else, they usually steamroll them.
Again, this applies to the Terran Cadet start, but it should be valid for all gamestarts with minor differences.
In the latest Tango's video the AI Holsten mentioned that a 1.21GN force would be required to return the moon to it's previous orbit, which sounds like a lot but i decided to find out how much that really is
One way to apply a next to instantaneous force is pistons, so if we find out how much force can a piston exert we can find out how many pistons would be needed to move the moon
Knowing that pistons can move 12 blocks and that gold blocks are the heaviest blocks at 19,300kg per block (based on this article: https://www.forbes.com/sites/briankoberlein/2018/07/09/what-minecraft-can-teach-you-about-neutron-stars/)Now we only need to find out the gravitational acceleration to find out how many newtons of force would be required to lift 12 blocks of gold
Ok i'm dumb netherite blocks take a lot more gold than gold blocks so i redid the calculation assuming that netherite is lonsdaliate as suggested by game theory and getting the density values from http://webmineral.com/ (because they give no units for density and i can't be bothered to figure it out i just used the gold block weight from the article above in combination with the densities to calculate the netherite weight)
For this step i opted for a simple fall test timing myself falling 197 blocks, and with 2 measurements of 4.35 and 4.55 seconds which resulted in the acceleration being 19.03 and 20.82 i decided to take the average of 20m/s^2 The accuracy of the acceleration measurements could definitely be improved but that doesn't matter for the rough calculations
Now that we have gathered the info to calculate the force each piston can exert we can simply use newtons second law (F=m*a) and we get F = 12 * 19300 * 20 = 4 632 000N
Converting the 1.21 GN to N gives 1 210 000 000 and 1 210 000 000 / 4 632 000 = 261.2 pistons and that is definitely doable
just over a stack of pistons is honestly a laughable amount to move a full moon
But the analysis doesn't end there, i want to fact check the 1.21GN force number too
Here a discrepancy with orbital mechanics and what's in the video can immediately be noticed,
Let's assume that the moon is a rocket with an engine that can apply force

My adventure started last Februaryβwell, I guess you could say it really began 25 years ago when Carla gave birth to our daughter, Beatrice. My wife and I were fairly well-off residents of Uranus's orbital ring, known colloquially as The Wreath. I was ready to spend the rest of my life with her, making my way selling mass privileges and raising our daughter to be an honest Uranian.
Then Carla left me just days after Beatrice's cord was cut. I begged her to stay. She said she had to "chase her dreams" in the Kuiper Belt and walked out of our apartment with bag in tow.
Poor baby Beatrice, poor baby 'Trice, deprived of her birth mother.
And I had been little better, being so angry as to abandon my lucrative position on The Wreath and move us to the Mid-Sky region of Uranus. We settled down on one of the hundreds of Floaters (a giant planet term for a mobile aerostat colony) that mine the planet's atmosphere for rare gasses and hydrocarbons. We've been on our own and financially struggling ever since.
Fast forward to last February. Beatrice was rarely home and overall uncommunicative. She kept busy filling the odd position to earn her keep and staying overnight with various friends. That was fine; at least she stayed aboard the ship.
I woke up on February 5th to a lonely room, slid out of my bunk made of PVC and netting, and hit my head on Beatrice's identical one above. About an earth-normal gee greeted my legs. After stretching I strolled out the door in my pajamas/uniform (the dichotomy of dress and casual doesn't exist when youβre only allowed one kilogram of clothing). The neighborhood I lived in was very close-knit. Everyone knew each other by full name, smell, and, thanks to the centimeter-thick walls, sound.
My neighbor, Quentin, barreled out of his room after me yelling, "Hey Doug, slow down. Doug!" I increased my speed, but that jet of a man was faster. "Why didnβt you ease up?" he said.
"How am I supposed to avert our morning talk otherwise?"
"Har, har. Tissue paper does well to avoid tight asses."
"Tell that to the makers of our uniforms."
Quentin turned the beginning of a laugh into a disgruntled huff (lest he admit my joke was better) and changed the subject. "Intakes are running sub-optimally," he said, "no doubt a consequence of assigning youths to the maintenance crew."
I didn't tell him that Beatrice had been assigned there for a few weeks in December. Why should I? Almost everything was automated down there and what

The "Perfectly Ordinary Magician", Marisa Kirisame is the deuteragonist of the Touhou series, the best friend of Reimu Hakurei, and the (self proclaimed) second strongest human in Gensokyo. Originally just an ordinary girl from the Krisiame household living in the human village, Marisa struck it out on her own in the forest of magic and through lots of hard work and trial and error, has learned enough magic to be able to tangle with some of the strongest residents of Gensokyo. Marisa operates a magic shop out of her house that performs all variety of odd jobs (even if she never gets any customers) and will also pursue after any incident or event she finds interesting. While she can be extremely blunt and selfish, her outgoing, straightforward personality and tendency to treat everyone the same regardless of race or power means she tends to get along with a whole variety of youkai. She also has a habit of trying to steal anything interesting interesting that isn't nailed down, often under the pretense of "I'm just borrowing it until I die of old age"... even though she also has some interest in immortality.

CHAPTER 1: PREEMPTIVE STRIKE
The sound of claws scratching against the metal deck echoed through the cramped corridor as the Crewmaster made his way to the bridge, ducking under exposed pipes and bundles of electrical cables. This warren of winding passages was made for humans, not Borealans, his eight-foot stature requiring him to hunch over to avoid hitting his head. Their smell still permeated the vessel, but it was fading now, overcome by the scents of oil and alien machinery.
His furry ears brushed the doorframe as he emerged into a more open space, finally able to stand upright. Before him was a room occupied by half a dozen console banks, more of his kind hunched over before the glowing, holographic displays. They waved their clawed fingers through the projections, adjusting their course, and tracking radar contacts. The bridge was a little more homely than the rest of the ship. As the command center, the bare hull had been decorated with crimson drapes in the traditional style, the flowing fabric cascading from the ceiling to the carpeted floor. A large window wrapped around the room, occupying his entire field of view. The glass doubled as a monitor, displaying information in small boxes that the crew were moving around with gestures from their furry hands, the angular hull of the frigate visible beyond.
It extended into the distance like an artificial horizon, tapering into a dull point a good two hundred meters in front of them, the subtly raised conning tower giving them a fine view. It was broken up in places by the streamlined blisters that housed the shipβs railgun turrets, and the closed hatches of the torpedo launch tubes. The vessel bristled with weaponry, but it
