A list of puns related to "Hfs Plus"
I need to get wisdom teeth removed so that's the only major procedure I foresee myself needing. Also, mental health. I haven't been screened for any mental illness but am almost certain I am somewhere on the spectrum. I'm not gonna go into it but I know I have it lol I just need to get diagnosed. So yeah anyways these are my main 2 concerns.
I have a car so I don't mind traveling, I'm in Seward.
Really dumb subjective question here but thought I'd ask π I think I'm just gonna keep Blue Plus but I want some input before I make my final decision. Thanks in advance and sorry for cluttering the sub with a dumb q!
Hi folks,
please don't know why I don't have any signal on VLF and LW bands with upconverter? I have a Ham It Up Plus - HF Upconverter and it should have a frequency range of 300Hz-65MHz, but the VLF and LW bands are quiet.
Do I need a special antenna? Because when receiving VLF via a sound card, a piece of wire or a coil is enough for me.
Thanks a lot!

Looking for some help in Ubuntu with 18.04.1 (fresh install yesterday) and drives that I pulled from my Mac that just died in the past few days. There are four drives and all of them are HFS Plus volumes. My Ubuntu machine sees the drives and I can mount them with no trouble. However I am having the following problems:
$ sudo mount -t hfsplus -o force,rw /dev/sdXY /home/username/foldername
This command completes in the terminal but there were no changes when I re-access the folder. Rebooting does not seem to have any different results as well.
Running the following indicates that everything appear to be ok
$ sudo fsck.hfsplus -f /dev/sdXY
** /dev/sdXY
** Checking HFS Plus volume.
** Checking Extents Overflow file.
** Checking Catalog file.
** Checking multi-linked files.
** Checking Catalog hierarchy.
** Checking Extended Attributes file.
** Checking volume bitmap.
** Checking volume information.
** The volume ### appears to be OK.
Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: Found a fix
I was able to fix both problems.
1st step was that I unmounted all of the Drives. Then I used the following:
sudo mount -t hfsplus -o force, rw /dev/sdXY /media/medianame
Yes I know this is forcing the read and writing but as I indicated this is a temporary solution until I can obtain new drives so that I can transfer the data and then reformat the existing drives.
2nd step I used the following to regain permission:
sudo chown -R username:username location
Thanks for everyone that offered a lending hand in finding a solution.
I have had my Amateur Extra License for a while and believe I am ready to step up for TX on HF. Initially I just wanted to ask about my HF setup but when I did my research (on reddit and other forums), I think there is a need for new HAMs to have roadmap on how to step through with different license class gradually. Hence, I wrote this as my summary, so that when someone new to HAM Radio sees this, they can use this as a reference for their journey from Technician to Extra.
Background:
When I first got into Ham Radio (technician license) I was a college student (studying engineering). I always had a job hence always had little extra cash to spend on this hobby (meaning cheap). I always though listening was as important. Hence before getting my license, I bought a Uniden BC75XLT scanner ($99 at Frys). This was so I could feel comfortable with listening on the bands (additionally this scanner has police/air/weather etc. features as well --- its Analog only). After getting my license, when it came to buy the radio, I went with Baofeng UV5rV2+ for $30 for 2m/70cm (VHF/UHF) -----I might get some hate for this.
Then one night, I had a big break. My first contact as a HAM with my Baofeng. Not going to lie, I still get a smile writing about that moment.
Now there is a lot of people that complain about this transceiver. I live in an Urban Environment; I had no issues making contacts. There is a software called CHIRP, use it to program the radio, it is fairly easy. You will hear some complaints about this radio; but here is my view on it: βBeggars canβt be choosersβ; and it consistently made contacts from my apartment. I was a college student and for $30 it got me on the air and I was having fun. I have spent less than $150 so far. You might think: βHey why did you spend $100 on the scannerβ. Initially I was a noob and didnβt know any better. But looking back now, I think accidentally I made the right decision. You need a scanner, to know which frequency/station/repeater there is active traffic in (you need a dedicated scanner to scan).
I eventually upgraded the antenna. This is something where you have to make your own decision. Its okay if you donβt, however it did make a difference. I personally got the Nagoya 771R (retractable, I wanted retractable for storage); for about $25 on Amazon.
Soon, I graduated got a professional job, got my Extra license, Grad School, got another job. Essentially during this time, I had stepped away from the hobby. One day I
... keep reading on reddit β‘I've recently installed Arch Linux on my raspberry pi and attached some drives to be shared over the network (eventually using AFP provided by Netatalk).
I'm having issues with my TimeMachine drive, I've been able to mount it regularly but I can't get write access.
Any help from some of the linux guru's out there?
This is kind of tricky and I am at the end of my wits. I have an hfs plus formatted external disk and there are(were) two volumes on it. I took a backup of this on another external and removed one of the volumes. Now it seems that the paths were shortened or some funny business like that but I don't see all my data on the new backup. So, Is there any software for windows that can recover this lost volume for me? I really need help on this.
EDIT: Alright. Tried PhotoRec but the command line was just too much for me and I also think that there is not a lot of functionality for HFS drives which actually sucks because I got it to work just find except there was no 'undelete' option for HFS drive. Well, So, I tried R-Studio and it scanned the drive properly and detected all the lost partitions, drives etc. but then my system restarted for some reason when I tried to list the files. So, gonna give it a try tonight again. But I think I can handle it from here on. Thanks!
