A list of puns related to "Her Majesty's Prison Service"
It's one of more substantive James Bond movies that's about something like love, appreciating the time you spend with people, through meeting Bond Tracy has a new appreciation for life which was a good character arc for her. the relationship functions really well in terms of build up to their relationship they spend time together
Unlike Spectre where Madeline hates Bond and then at a drop of a hat is attracted to him then fucks after a fight just rushed!
On her majesty's secret service isn't that, they use the 2hr and 22 minute runtime to great effect. I love how it introduces things in the first half like draco which later pays off and it's great.
It's beautifully made and well written.
It's like a better No Time To Die.
Anyone else find it very jarring when it cuts to the bond theme at the end of the film?
Overview
After the absurdity and excess of You Only Live Twice, Bond's custodians decided to dial things down a bit for the next installment. (That seems to be a pattern throughout the series, as Moonraker was followed by For Your Eyes Only and Die Another Day was followed by Casino Royale.) The result was On Her Majesty's Secret Service, a more grounded, more spy-centric adventure that adhered closely to the source novel (and, in my opinion, even improved on it). While successful, it didn't come close to the box office heights of its immediate predecessor, however. For many years it was largely written off as a lesser Bond, but posterity has been kind to it, and today it's regarded as one of the finest in the series.

Just finished watching it for the first time. I donβt get all the hate, itβs a very good Bond film, and I think Lazenby did a wonderful job
Which of these movies do you prefer? I have trouble in deciding which one I like more because on one hand Roger Moore clearly does a better performance then George Lazenby but on the other hand LALD is very campy while OHMSS takes itself more serious.
Tell me what you think about this!
Edit: Campy doesn't mean bad.
Personally I liked it, it felt like it had a good mix of action and story, with a sad ending that was honestly quite depressing, and a pretty good Bond. The only party I didn't like about it was that very out of place song segment with Tracy before the Bern scene, it felt weird.
That's my own opinion, what did you all think of it?
Don't mean to ruffle feathers. It's just that it's constantly showing up in people's top five lists and I can for the life of me figure out why.
I'll admit many parts work well and it's hard to argue it's got a great bond girl, an awesome villain lair, a couple of decent action sequences, a killer soundtrack and a brave, gut-punch ending, but other than that there's not much to it.
Another agent? Another 007? Another random heroic guy on a beach??
Posting this in anticipation of the episode.. i hope it's a commentary track!!
Any of the classic 60s or 70s James Bond movies
The hotel manager escorts James to his room where he throws open the doors to the balcony before turning to say, "I'm sure we can look after your special needs."
So... what exactly are James' "special needs"?
Was because of πΈ
It really is an odd duck in that era of James Bond.
I'm wondering if Connery would have had better chemistry with Diana Rigg had he decided to be in OHMSS. I know that Lazenby didn't have good on or off screen chemistry with Rigg. I like Lazenby as Bond but yeah he shot himself in the foot with how he handled his acting career after OHMSS.
