TIL The title character of Edward Bulwer-Lyttonβ€˜s 1828 novel Pelham, dandy aristocrat Henry Pelham, wore only black evening wear. The novel’s popularity resulted in black becoming the real life standard color for men’s evening formal wear, which it still is nearly 200 years later. io9.gizmodo.com/an-apprec…

British Prime Ministers - Part II: Henry Pelham & the Duke of Newcastle.

So it seems last week's thread resulted in some rather pleasant discussion, so I'll continue this series up until it gains no responses at all or until we reach the end.

Also, I just wondered if people wanted these threads a bit more frequently, I picked Sundays because I figured that's when people have the most free time, but if we want it to be a biweekly feature then I could do a thread on Wednesdays as well.

Was Henry Pelham John Singleton Copley's half-brother or stepbrother?

I've seen sources saying both (the Boston MFA says stepbrother but other sources, including Wikipedia, say half-brother).
