LET'S GO ROCKET! π
Good evening Blues and TBirds Fans. In this post I will be providing updates every intermission and post game on the TBirds and Blues Prospects. If there are any players in particular you want an update on or think I should keep an eye out for let me know. I have done this a few times when Springfield was the farm team for Florida and Columbus and will be happy to restart this thread for the St. Louis Blues throughout the season for all the games I am able to attend. As a disclaimer, I have no direct connection to either franchise, I am a season ticket holder for the Tbirds and all my analysis is from a fan perspective.
End of First: TBirds lead 1-0 goal from Alexandrov. A PPG on the deflection.
This team is fast and not afraid to take chances early on and are unafraid of hitting, as evidenced by Toropchenko's beautiful open ice hit in the offensive zone. I'll try uploading replay of the hit later on. Joel Hofer gets the start in net and though aggressive play is appreciated for skaters, Hofer's play has almost led to risky turnovers. Other than that he has been solid in net stopping 7 in the first. Peca and McGing are do it all at the moment spending time on both PP and PK. Though I have to say Peca has been the most noticeable of the pair, having several takeaways so far. Toropchenko is a rocket on the ice, the team keeps looking to get him on a break, it's only a matter of time before it occurs. Alexandrov has definitely used his size to his advantage, especially in the corners and parking in front of the net, the latter led to his deflection goal to take the lead. Will have more after the 2nd. GO TBIRDS.
End of 2. Game tied 1-1. Tbirds out shooting 22-15.
Maceachern given a 10min misconduct. McGing and Alexandrov showing chemistry together on the same line. The team so far has gone 2 for 3 on the PK. Toropchenko getting some time on what I can gather is the second pk unit. Perunovich is fairing well on the blue line but doesn't quite have full command of it. A few errant passes have not gone his way, though that is very true of the team as a whole thru the second period. The team struggled to connect and unfortunately relied heavily on a dump and chase to get into the offensive zone. A bad line change led to a 2 on 1 breakaway with Hofer standing tall. Hofer has performed well but needs work on his rebound control. Sending pucks into crowded ice and where his lateral response time has been tested more than you would like to see. Luckily Hartford

>The team was established in 1926 as the Providence Reds. After a series of relocations, the team moved to Hartford in 1997 as the Hartford Wolf Pack. It is one of the oldest professional hockey franchises extant, and the oldest continuously operating minor league hockey franchise in North America... > >Although the Wolf Pack does not officially acknowledge its past in Providence and Binghamton (or the Reds' four Calder Cups), it is the only AHL team to have never missed a season since the league's founding in 1936. In one form or another, the franchise has iced a team every year since 1926... > >The only professional hockey franchises older than the Wolf Pack are the NHL's Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins.

Edit: After a little more digging, that last paragraph probably needs to be revised. The Rangers are most likely a few weeks to a few months older.
Hey guys THRILLHOIAF (the1THRILLHOUSE is my more common moniker) here with what I hope to be a fairly frequent series of reviews of the Comets games.
I recently got the AHL team package for the Comets and since i've got tonnes of time on my hands and want to contribute something to the sport I love I thought it'd be great to give our community a little bit of a glimpse at the kids on the farm (outside of twitter clips from the usual suspects) to see how they're doing outside of just getting prospects updated points totals!
Note that I have a fairly positive outlook so some of my clips might be a bit "homerist" in that it may seem like a meaningless play or attribute of a players game, but I'm a fan of effort, skating, edgework passing, so some of my stuff might not be the standard "highlight reel clips" but stuff I think worth noting about a prospects value and style!
Note
>I'm still working on audio balancing and streamable quality as its a new medium for me so the first couple issues of this will be a work in progress so any help/advice would be great!
For this installment I'm going to cover the entirety of the 11/9/18 game and throw in a couple clips from last Wenesdays home game against the Laval Rocket because theres some good stuff there too!
without further adieu...
###THE FARMIES
Utica Comets take on the NY Rangers farm team the Hartford Wolf Pack
Coming into tonight the Comets were on a 5 game losing streak at home and with Richard Bachman still up with the main squad, netminder Ivan Kubalkov was looking at his 4th start in a row. The Wolf Pack were visiting the Comets on their 5th straight road game but were well rested and looking to dominate after having almost 6 days to prepare after their last game, a shootout loss to the Hershey Bears. Lets get into it!
1st period
Tanner MacMaster taking lessons from Elias Petterson and had a great chance alone down the wing, wiring one straight into Marek Mazanecs gloveside.
6th rounder Lukas Jasek had a great end to last season with the Comets, putting up 7 points in just 6 games. Here he is alone on the left circle with a great rinkwide pass from fellow 6th rounder, Petrus Palmu, where he attempts to go top shelf on Mazanec but again finds his glove
Score at end of period: 0-0

###THE FARMIES
A day late but only a couple hundred USD short; Iβm back from America town, a bit more patriotic, a bit angrier, and ready to double-down on my usage of yβall fer this one der buds. To all the guys living in Utica and going to the games, I fucking commend you, Fridays game was βdemand a refundβ level of bad. I actually started wondering if I was doing a bad job at picking out highlights and plays, when I sadly realized there simply WERENβT ANY. It was weird seeing a team collectively phone it in on home ice. The fans deserve better damn it! Maybe yβall will actually show up for Saturdays away game against the Hartford Wolf Pack! The last time the Comets met the Pack, we got a nutty ass game where the team was down 3-1 going into the third, then edged out a gritty shootout victory. Base on THAT meeting with Hartford Iβm hoping for at least something competitiveβ¦.but after Fridays gameβ¦Iβll be happy to get at least 10 streamables per period.
##Starting Lineup##
Holy shit Trent Cull was fucking pissed off at the boys for Fridays game because this lineup is a complete shit show. Heβs dressing Jesse Graham whoβs been a regular scratch for the last several weeks as a FORWARD, and rotating Dylan Blujus in as the seventh defenderβ¦I meanβ¦Gadjovich IMO had a decent enough game Friday, and I dunno I guess he just doesnβt like Palmuβ¦but itβs a roster of AHL lifers featuring Juolevi/Dahlen and Jasekβ¦.with the ECHL PTO as your starting goaltenderβ¦oh boy this will be interesting.

Good afternoon my r/canuck brothers and sistersβ¦your hungover buddy THRILLHOIAF is running it back with a recap of last nightβs game against the Hartford Wolf Pack. Currently the Wolf Pack sit dead last in the AHL's Atlantic Division, despite maintaining 65 points (3 shy of the Comets 68 points). The Comets have been playing lately like a dead last team, although I canβt really fault them too hardβ¦its literally like an ECHL team featuring AHL lifers and rookies with a few standout NHL caliber guys bearing the brunt of the heavy lifting.
Like this lineup shouldnβt technically exist in the AHL but it does due to terrible injury luck on the Canucks and the Comets, as well as pretty laughably bad asset management.
Position | Player | Status |
---|---|---|
#1 goalie | Thatcher Demko | Injured beginning of the season for 18 games, dressed for 19, then NHL for good |
#2 Goalie/defacto number 1 after Demko | Richard Bachman | dressed for 23 games then out for the season with injury |
#2 Center | Adam Gaudette | played 14 games, rest of season with Canucks due to Sutter/Beagle injuries |
1st pairing Dman and powerplay qb | Olli Juolevi | Played 18 games then out for season with knee injury |
Defacto 1st pairing Dman and powerplay QB | Evan McEneny | 58 games played, career best points, out for season with knee injury |
1st pairing Dman | Ashton Sautner | 31 starts then misses 23 games due to injury, then called up to the Canucks |
1st pairing Dman | Luke Schenn | Impact Dman with Sautner for 7 games before being permanently called up to Canucks |
1st/2nd line Left Winger | Jonathan Dahlen | 50 starts then traded for a high potential bust prospect instead of a piece that helps the Comets now |
1st/2nd line winger | Darren Archibald | Comets cornerstone piece traded for Tom Pyatt and a goalie they lost to on waivers to get Demko in the NHL |
1st line Winger | Michael Carcone | 17 pts in 20 games, still top 10 in Utica scoring, traded to division rival for an NHL piece |
Rookie winger | Tanner MacMaster | 11 pts in 29 games, 4th amongst rookie group, traded to division rival again for a Dman due to injuries/callups |
Rookie winger | Petrus Palmu | 12 starts, mostly all on the 4th line with ECHL plugs and 16 healthy scratches; left for Liiga to get more icetime |
2nd pairing Dman | Jalen Chatfield | Missed 31 games due to injury |
3rd/4th line rookie winger | Kole Lind | 44 starts, 15 games lost due to injury; not producing |
4th line rookie winger | Jonah Gadjovich | 37 starts, 20 healthy |

#PBRUINS WIN!
##GWG by Seth Griffith in 3OT!
Apologies for the retrograde nature of this thread, but I'm trying to put it together from my phone for those of us that are either here or otherwise interested in the PBruins' quest to claim the Calder Cup!
http://imgur.com/3PeodjZ
Last night, the PBruins beat the Pack 2-1 in regulation at the XL Center in Hartford. Tonight, we'll cheer them on at home at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence. The first round of the AHL playoffs is best of five, not seven, so these wins are even more important than normal.
Go Bruins!!!

Goddammit Louis I wanted to keep you. :(
Squirtzle: Welcome to the team bud I hope you can do a good job here.
#THE FARMIES
With the Canucks season ending today against the Blues, we turn to the Farm team for something to look forward too! Unfortunately theyβve lost four consecutive games and havenβt won a game in regulation in their last 20! They havenβt won a road game in 8 straight games and have been outscored 34-10 during those 8.
The Major Slumps from guys who had run QUITE hot this season,
Tanner Kero remains on IR due to concussion protocol, Seamus Malone was released from his Amateur Tryout contractβ¦I hope to god thatβs a formality and an AHL deal is being worked onβ¦.if they gave up on him despite his 3 goals in 6 games then I officially give up on Ryan Johnson and Jim Benningβ¦moreso on Jim Benning because according to Sportsnet 650, heβs looking to visit Utica this weekend (for the first time this season) to βfind out from the coaches what exactly happened this seasonβ
Remember when John Tortorella was vilified by the media and market for having not made any effort to talk with the Farm team during his tenure with the Canucks? How is it not a bigger talking point that the βdraft/scouting guruβ Jim Benning has made absolutely no effort to see how his system is doing? Why now?
Does this imply that when Carcone, Archibald, Nilsson and Dahlen were moved, he had absolutely no discussions or idea of what was going on with the farm at that time and just kind of assumed his moves would work out? I cant even put into words how baffled I am that heβs NOW making an effort to find out what the fuck happened to the seasonβ¦as if he needs it spelled out for him in big block letters. You called up the entire teamβ¦your best players got season ending injuriesβ¦.and the lack of prospect depth in the system caused your farm team to rely on ECHL players for the majority of this season due to terrible asset management. How is a top-to-bottom review of the organizations prospect pool and depth charts happening NOW? β¦ I remember getting downvoted to oblivion for suggesting that there was a serious concern to be had about the lack of communication between both the Canucks and the Comets organizations (regarding the Palmu move and Dahlen trade) but this kind of affirms my fear that the Canucks brass has been operating with terrible information about their farm team which is completely unacce
